Anthropology + 3D Design! Have you heard the term maker or been
Anthropology + 3D Design!
Have you heard the term maker or been to a makerspace or attended a MakerCon?
Often times you may think “drone” or “CNC Router” or something high end in a space for
making, but making is really simply the concept of creating!
In anthropology creating includes the process of making replicas of artifacts from
scanning to 3D printing, increasing access and sharing of artifacts with colleagues, 3D mapping
of archaeological sites, and more.
The UNCG libraries has a grant this year that includes our purchase of a 3D printer and
Arduino (electronic/circuit) kits to launch a mini mobile makerspace - we bring the making to
you! This Anthropology session will give you an overview of the concept of making, show you
some software and examples of making, and ask you to share ideas on how you are or can be a
anthro-maker. (And yes we will have our 3D printer there too!)
presenters:
beth filar williams, librarian + brown biggers, server administrator, Jackson Library ERIT
department
