Bill Volkert
Bill Volkert worked as the naturalist and wildlife
educator for Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources at Horicon Marsh for 27 years, where
he conducted more than 3,600 education
programs for over 220,000 people.
In his personal time he has traveled widely in
search of the world's birds and the wild places
they inhabit. His travels have taken him
throughout Central and South America, across
the Canadian Arctic, to Africa, Australia, New
Zealand, Russia and Mongolia.
Bill has been watching and studying birds for
nearly 40 years and in his travels has sighted
more than 2,500 species (1/4 of the world's
birds).

Bill Germer is a life long resident of
Lake Sinissippi. Bill and his father
have collected may local artifacts. Bill
even has his own museum.
Bill served the LSA for over 25 years
and has supported carp removal along
with the yearly game fish stocking
Bill is an advocate for Lake Sinissippi
improvements, fishing, hunting, and
Lake Sinissippi being recognized for
its beauty.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Initiative is to establish and interpret a
Rock River Water Trail along the 300-mile river course from
the headwaters in Fond du Lac and Dodge Counties,
Wisconsin, to the Mississippi River at Rock Island, Illinois,
and
a separate Rock River Route on roads within the river
corridor to provide access for all to the natural resources,
recreational opportunities, scenic beauty and historic and
cultural assets of the Rock River Valley.

discover the unique landscapes and history of the Rock River
Launch sites, safe portages, camping, signed highway route and
connections to hiking and biking trails and other water trails
