FALL RETROSPECTIVE
theREP’s fall On-The-Go! tour, Sleepy Hollow, was
a huge success, receiving glowing reviews from
students and teachers across the region. Letters
poured into theREP throughout the duration of the
tour, and were full of pictures, praise and questions
about the production. Many of the questions
related to the shows podcast concept, while others
addressed slight differences between theREP’s
adaptation and Washington Irving’s original story.
We were thrilled to receive each letter and happily
responded to every student. It’s always a thrill to
know that, not only are students being exposed to
professional theatre at a young age, but they are
thinking—and writing—about it afterwards.

TEACHER TIME at theREP
Using theatre in everyday classroom learning
can help teachers successfully prepare students
for college, teaching them to feel confident in
themselves and able to speak in front of a classroom
full of peers. theREP’s Teacher Time events are all
about providing educators with theatre games and
exercises that will engage students with the subject
matter being studied, and have a creatively good
time while doing so. This past October twenty
teachers came to the theatre where they learned
and played a variety of improv games, all of which
were geared towards collaborative learning. The
exercises called into play one of the most basic rules
of improv—the “yes, and…”; the idea and ability to
accept what a partner offers and build on to it. A
rollicking good time was had by all! Keep checking

wunderlust in your heart, Trip to
Bountiful is the show for you and
your students. Though it’s a straight
play, a non-musical, director Maggie
Mancinelli-Cahill will be featuring
soul-stirring music to help tell the
story of Carrie Watts, a woman who
wants to see her childhood home
one last time. A beautiful story to
round out our season, I can’t wait to
share it with your students.

I’m thrilled to be directing the
Bard’s enchanting tale for theREP’s
spring On-The-Go! in-school tour
—my 8th OTG with the company.
This story is full of mischief, magic,
quirky characters, and love gone
array, and will be told with a
company of five actors. Each actor
will take on multiple roles in this
retelling, equipped with unique and
transformative costumes, puppetry
and some other fun surprises.
It’s going to be a great rehearsal
process and an exciting tour! A

begin touring into schools on March
