• This section details E-Series’ many outstanding attributes and new features for 2008

2008 E-Series Vans receive a freshened appearance
with new:
• Upgraded steering system for improved feel
• Grille — painted black
• All-new braking system improves stopping distances
• Front fascia
• Traction Control is optional on gasoline engines

• Maximum front GAWR increased to 5000 lbs. on
Cutaway models with 6.0L and 6.8L engines on 158-inch
and 176-inch wheelbase models
• Tuned shock absorbers help provide an improved ride

Diesel Engine Specifics
The available 6.0L Power Stroke® V-8 turbo diesel engine offers
the following benefits:

ENGINEERING INSIGHT: Turbocharger
Similar to a variable-nozzle turbocharger, the Electronic
Variable Response Turbocharger (EVRT) on the 6.0L Power
Stroke allows the position of the turbine blades to change
based on demand. This helps increase airflow within the
turbocharger. The significantly increased airflow delivers
turbo boost for outstanding performance in many highdemand driving situations:

Lower Diesel Emissions
The 6.0L Power Stroke V-8 turbo diesel engine has a number
of features to help reduce NVH:
• A rigid bedplate on the bottom of the engine stiffens the
engine block to help reduce vibration
• The block ribbing structure is designed to reduce vibration
and powertrain bending
• Damped steel oil pan helps reduce noise transmission
• The rear gear train provides the durability of gear-drive
technology to help reduce NVH
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (Cooled EGR) technology means
that a portion of the exhaust gas is rerouted through a cooler,
and then the cooled exhaust gas is reintroduced into the fresh
air charge. Here are the benefits:
• The system helps reduce the flame temperature during
combustion, thus helping to reduce NOx emissions
• Older methods to control NOx emissions often relied on
delayed injection timing, which sometimes sacrificed fuel
economy. This EGR technology helps optimize emissions
control and fuel economy
Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) Fuel Specifics
• ULSD fuel MUST be used in all 2008 model year
6.0L diesels to allow the emissions control system
to operate properly
Lower 6.0L Power Stroke® NVH
• ULSD fuel may be used in pre-2007 diesel engines
• Sulfur level reduced by 97 percent compared to
