Learn how to write and submit a simple grant with minimal assistance. NOTE: Please bring the following: Mission Statement, Board Members’ Names, 501(c)(3) document, etc. Collaborating with Community Partners- A diverse panel of Community Partners will discuss the services they provide and how you can collaborate with them to help your clients. Food Sourcing- Gain insight into the basics and requirements of the Retail Donation program and other food sourcing avenues. Learn how to foster your own retail relationships in your local community. SNAP Outreach- Adrian Kirkland, our SNAP Outreach Coordinator, will explain the benefits of SNAP and demonstrate how to enroll more clients in the program. Child Hunger Needs Assessment- Aoife Dowd, our Child Hunger Corps Member, will present the results of our service area’s needs assessment, including information on methodology, data accumulation, and tips for conducting similar research. The assessment’s outcomes are particularly relevant to members of Blount, St. Clair, and Cherokee counties. Fresh Produce Distribution- Our Produce Procurement team will lead a discussion about our new fresh produce program and the resources needed for your agency to get involved in future distributions. SESSION II Working with Your Local Foundation- There is a wealth of information and services available to your agency through local foundations. A panel of foundation leaders will share the ways in which you can collaborate with their organization. Mothers Milk Bank of Alabama- The MMBAL is a human breast milk bank that provides critically ill infants in NICUs with life-saving breast milk donated by local mothers. Starting out as a CFBCA program, the MMBAL has grown rapidly into its own operation, with its headquarters remaining at the CFBCA. Find out how your agency can be a part of this mission through community outreach or as a collection site for local mothers. Nutrition Education- Learn how to successfully encourage your clients to adopt healthy eating habits and cook their own nutritious meals. Growing Agency Capacity- Capacity building is the process of developing and strengthening an organization to survive, adapt, and thrive amidst changing circumstances. Learn how to build your agency’s capacity and leverage the Agency Network in response to growing community needs. Improving Your Programs- Jon Barnacastle, our Programs Coordinator, discusses the CFBCA’s recent work with local partners to identify and address unmet community needs.
