TRANSPORT
Iglu Chatswood is a two minute walk to Chatswood Railway
Station where trains run frequently to the city (20 minute trip) and
Macquarie University (10 minute trip). There is also a major bus
interchange providing access to Manly, Mosman, Balmoral Beach
and many other areas of Sydney.
EATING OUT
Chatswood has eating options to suit any student budget. The
District, a world class Asian-inspired dining precinct which boasts
Tim Ho Wan – the world’s cheapest Michelin-starred restaurant.
There is also the Mall Market on Thursday and Friday, great
noodle and dumpling houses and popular Yum Cha eateries. And
at the Chatswood Interchange, just around the corner from Iglu
Chatswood, there are places galore to grab coffee, tea, juices,
smoothies, cakes and other delicious treats.

SHOPPING AND ENTERTAINMENT
As a major retail hub, Chatswood boasts two of Sydney’s largest
shopping malls and lots of entertainment outlets. Westfield
Chatswood (4 minute walk) offers a large array of eateries,
clothing stores and a Hoyts cinema. Chatswood Chase (8 minute
walk) is an upmarket centre with eateries and high end fashion
stores. The Mandarin Centre (2 minute walk) has a ten pin
bowling bar, cinema and a great range of cheap eateries.
SUPERMARKETS AND FRESH FOOD
Three major supermarkets (Woolworths, Coles and Aldi) and a
great Asian supermarket are all within walking distance. They all
stock a wide variety of goods including fruit and vegetables, dairy
products, bread, processed food and cleaning products. Westfield
also has a great fresh food hall with fruit and vegetables, bakery,
seafood, butchery and much more.

LIBRARY FACILITIES
Students need good places to study and Willoughby City Library (5
minute walk) is just that. It has over 5,000 square metres of books,
resources, reference material and a multilingual collection in more
than 10 languages. It is open from 9am-9pm (Monday–Thursday);
9am-6pm (Friday); 9am-5pm (Saturday) and 9am-2pm (Sunday).
CULTURAL EXPERIENCES
Chatswood has a rich cultural element. The Mosaic Multicultural
Centre, Zenith Theatre, and ‘The Concourse’, with a 1,000 seat
Concert Hall and 500 seat theatre, all play host to comedy, music,
dance and theatre events. Plus there is an Outdoor Urban Screen
for an open-air cinema, live sporting events and more.
MEDICAL CENTRES AND HOSPITALS
There are a number of medical centres in Chatswood – the closest
one is at Westfield. One of Sydney’s largest hospitals, Royal North
Shore, is also close by (8 minutes by car or 11 minutes by train).
BANKING
All major banks are represented in Chatswood with full branches
- some which open on Saturday mornings – and multiple ATMs.
GYMS AND FITNESS
It’s easy to stay fit and healthy in Chatswood, with three gyms –
Crunch, Anytime Fitness and Fitness First – and Pilates, yoga and
dance studios within close walking distance of Iglu Chatswood.
