Hello Corvette Enthusiasts, My time as President of AACC has come to an end! During these past 2 years, AACC grew from 179 to 218 members. Our meeting attendance has also grown — average attendance in 2014 was 64 and, so far this year, we are averaging 74. In my opinion, with these growing numbers, AACC is headed in the right direction. Our club grew in more ways than just member numbers — Springfest is a premier regional event. Special thanks to Laura and Marty Hegyi for making Springfest the success it is today. free for a few years now and even opened the show to all things Chevy to build the event. Having success at both of these shows allows AACC to support the charities we do. Over the past two years we have also tackled a number of issues with the first (Continued on page 2)

being the club’s By‐Laws, which were last reviewed and updated in 2008. I felt it was time to review our By‐Laws and bring them up to date. Our sec‐
ond issue was deciding whether insurance through NCCC was right for AACC. After much discussion, countless phone calls to insurance companies, and finally being able to break down NCCC insurance coverage, it became clear Upcoming

that NCCC was not the best solution for our club going forward. I also need to say “Thank you” to our Officers and Board of Directors. AACC truly has a great leadership group who make it happen every week. We have had many meetings and hours of discussions, all to reach decisions to make our club better than it was before. In closing, I believe that AACC has a very bright future and I look forward in becoming Chairman of the Board for the coming years. Be safe & be well, Jeff Mohring

It’s Time to Pass the Gavel
Wed., Aug. 26 | The highlight of our last regular club meeting during August was the “Changing of the Guard.” The election of officers was moreso an appointment as each of the open offices had only a single candidate. There was a bit more contention for the Board of Directors openings — of the seven nominees (Ken Beck, Art Edinger, Jim Fagan, Bill Frank, Scott Marakovits, Jim Peters, and Gary Warmkessel), only two would be elected. Our new club leadership is: Laura Hegyi (President), Mike Cutro (Vice President), Carol Jenkins (Secretary), Janet Mohring (Treasurer), Jeff Mohring (Board Chairman), Marty Hegyi & Rick Serfass (Board members, entering 2nd / final year), Ken Bek & Jim Fagan (Board members newly elected to a 2 year term). Congratulations to Laura, Mike, Jeff, and Ken on your new positions and to Jim for being re‐elected. Thanks to Carol and Janet for accepting another term. Photos of the outgoing and incoming officers and Board members will be taken at the first September meeting at our new location — the Best Western Lehigh Valley Hotel & Conference Center. Page 6

Thinking of You
If any club members know of a member who is in the hospital, has had surgery, or has lost a loved one, please notify VP Mike Cutro ([email protected], 610‐365‐8659) or one of the other Board Members. With Deepest Sympathies
On Tue., Aug. 25, the mother of Lifetime AACC member, Tom Himmelsbach, passed away. Mary Jane (Levenknight) Himmelsbach was 93 years old and lived in Quakertown. Her obituary appearedinTheMorningCallon Aug. 26, 2015.Our deepest sympathies go to Tom, Judy ,and their entire family. At the club meeting on Wed., Aug. 26, we learned that Tom Schneck and Maggie Fritz’s great grandson, Jack Scott Torrens, died due to complications of childbirth. Their granddaughter, Charlotte, is in good health. Jack would have been Tom and Maggie's second great grandchild. Your AACC family is saddened by your unexpected loss. Mecum Harrisburg
Fri.‐Sat., Jul. 31‐Aug. 01 | You probably remember the cars and trucks auctioned during the 2nd Annual Mecum Collector Car Auction in Harrisburg during July, but did you take notice to the hard working people pushing the vehicles across the block? AACC had nearly a dozen folks who brought their own black pants and shoes and were given a Mecum shirt and ballcap for a unified look on television. Just in case you didn’t catch the “real” action, here are a few photos of horsepower being moved by peoplepower.  Some of AACC’s pushers (l‐r): Dennis Kuhns, Joe Serrao, Paul Sluzynski, John Kostick, and Marty Hegyi.

Das Awkscht Fescht
Sun., Aug. 02 | For the final day of the 2015 Das Awkscht Fest, Dave Hornung and Marty Hegyi partnered to lead the parking of Corvettes during Club Day. They estimate that around 40 fine fiber‐
glass examples were on the showfield in Macungie, PA. Thanks to everyone who helped out making the event run as smooth as possible. Chicken Run via AACA Museum
Sat., Aug. 08 | This year’s Chicken Run started earlier than ever because our first stop was the AACA Museum in Hershey, PA. The museum opened shortly before our 19 Corvettes arrived and parked directly in front of the Hershey’s Kiss Mobile. Although we did not have a private tour, there were docents spread throughout the museum to answer any questions from our inquisitive crew. Featured exhibits during our visit were station wagons and Tuckers. It was good that our fleet or ‘Vettes was parked in front of the museum because there weren’t any on display inside. When the stomachs started rumbling we boarded the chariots for an easy ride along PA‐22 to Kauffman’s Bar‐B‐Que Chicken Ranch. Here we were greeted by another five cars who skipped the museum stop. Our group filled the private dining area where most took advantage of the $10 half‐chicken platter. After lunch, the gang split up again, this time to different destinations. Some headed home, others followed I‐78 to Cabela’s in Hamburg, and a large contingent for the final planned stop — the Shoppes at Premise Maid (Breinigsville) for some ice cream. At the club meeting on Aug. 12th, Bobby Riehl gave a heart‐felt thanks the folks who came to his assistance during the run saying, “It’s not about the club, it’s about the people!” (Bobby, we’re glad that you feel at home with us!)  Scott Marakovits & Bonnie Serfass came prepared

Vettes for Pets 18
Len Feinberg (‘15 Z06)
Sun., Aug. 09 | EACC hosted Vettes for Pets 18 in the relaxing fields at Meuser Park. There were quite a few vendors, DJ Brian Keith, three different food stands, a 50/50, a large Tricky Tray auction, Don Barnes the photographer, door prizes, plenty of shade, and even a few dogs to adopt. About 225 cars and trucks attended the event contending for the 25 trophies awarded by people’s choice. A good time was had by all and monies were raised to benefit the Center for Animal Health & Welfare. Trophy winners included: Marty Hegyi (C3), Rick Serfass (C6), and Joe Iervolino(C5). 436 Photos by

AACC Family Picnic
Len Feinberg (‘15 Z06)
Sun., Aug. 16 | Nearly 90 club members converged on Bicentennial Park for fun, camaraderie, and food for the AACC Family Picnic. There was plenty to do and simply too much food. A surprise afternoon shower sent some of us to our cars to put the tops up or roof panels in. If you did not get wet in the rain, Jeannette Marakovits brought water bal‐
loons to cool off some people. (Actually, it seemed to get them heated up!) A good time was had by all. Thanks to the group that do all the set‐up and take down of the picnic so everyone can have a great day.  The ammo... the result.

Is Carlisle Your Favorite Place on Earth, Too?
Fri.‐Sun., Aug. 28‐30 | Corvettes at Carlisle took place during the same weekend this newsletter went to print. Those who attend our meetings or read this newsletter will recall that Marty Hegyi proclaims Corvettes at Carlisle to be his “Favorite Place on Earth!” We know that many club members make the two hour drive to the Carlisle Fairgrounds for the largest Corvette event on the East Coast. PLEASE send the Newsletter Editors your thoughts and photos from this year’s event to include in our October 2015 edition...and tell us if you agree with Marty! Fiberglass & Steel All-Chevy Show
Chair: Kevin Minnich (‘00)
Sun., Sep. 13 | Our Fall show is later this month and it will be the second time our Fiberglass & Steel show is open to all things Chevy. To repeat the success of last year’s show, David Hornung again coordinated our trophy sponsors. Thanks to everyone who stepped forward and hosted a class of trophies just to have your car entered for free. Gary George is helping out by coordinating the Generations Display which features a club car from each of Corvette’s seven generations. (Maybe next year we can feature project cars — either works in progress or modifieds? Just an idea, Gary, don’t panic!) Michelle Minnich continues receiving registration forms from flyers distributed at shows. At the publica‐
tion date of this newsletter, we have about forty pre‐registered vehicles (mainly Corvettes with a sprinkling of Chevys). Most importantly, our volunteer sign‐up sheets are still filling up — your help will truly make this event a success! The event flyer appears on pages 11‐12 of this newsletter. Cars & Coffee @ Bear Creek
Chair: Michelle Steiner (‘98)
Thu., Sep. 17 | New AACC member, Michelle Steiner, is coordinating a Cars & Coffee at Bear Creek Mountain Resort (Macungie, PA). This event is held as a kick‐off fund raiser in conjunction with her payroll conference to benefit Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors. The event runs from 6 to 9 pm. Michelle has plenty of fun activities planned so be sure to come out and sup‐
port this new event. Jamison Publick House Luncheon
Chair: Linda Roberts (‘85)
Sat., Sep. 19 | A return luncheon is planned for the Jamison Publick House (1860 Geryville Pike, Pennsburg, PA 18073). Seating is limited to 38 participants for the $20 all‐inclusive meal. The res‐
taurant is owned by the family of club members Woody and Linda Roberts. Feel free to stretch your baby’s legs along the backroads of Bucks county en route to ample parking at the Jamison. Page 10

Chair: Laura Hegyi (‘07)
Sat., Sep. 26 | Show your support for the Eastern PA Down Syndrome Society by attending their 2015 Buddy Walk at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center. Whether you take part in the actual Buddy Walk in adjacent Rodale Park, try your luck at the super‐sized tricky tray auction, or simply display your Corvette in the parking lot, your involvement will make a difference. The $15 per person registration fee includes a pizza lunch and event T‐shirt. Display cars shall arrive between 1:00‐1:15pm to park before the event begins. Don’t forget your chairs, snacks, and walking shoes! This event was brought to the club’s attention by Bruce and Sharon Carney, whose granddaughter, Olivia, has Down Syndrome. Their son, Michael, is the current President of EPDSC. Visit the event website (www.lehighvalleybuddywalk.org) to make a donation. Sun., Sep. 27 | Join your fellow clubbers for lunch at Quaker Steak & Lube (1304 US Route 22, Phillipsburg, NJ 08864). Anyone hungry shall meet at the Park & Ride at Rte. 33 & William Penn Hwy. A departure of 12:30pm is planned with an estimated arrive in Phillipsburg by 1:00pm. Be sure to sign the interest sheet at a club meeting so Mike knows who to expect at the departure point. “The Lube®” serves over 80 million wings annually, has bottled sauces for retail sale, has won the title of “Best Wings USA,” and has hundreds of local, national, and international awards for their sauce recipes. 2016 Corvette Review Notes
Jake Lingeman, Editor (AutoWeek.com)
Fri., Aug. 21 | I said this on my last Corvette drive, but damn, this car is good. This one is $70K, but you could easily knock it down to $65,000 or so. For that you get 455 hp, 460 lb‐ft and a power‐to‐weight ratio that rivals many super‐
cars. And it’s just a blast to drive. The suede‐covered, seven‐speed manual is easy and smooth to row. The throws aren’t super short, but I had no trou‐
ble banging through them quickly. Clutch weight is a little light, and takes some getting used to, but the catch point is nice and small. The stock brakes are great, and pedal travel is short ‐‐ by the time I was an inch in, I had already scrubbed a good amount of speed. The pedals are close enough for good heel‐toe action. The rest of the cabin is fine. I had a tough time finding a good seating position for some reason. I didn’t get enough lower back support. Everything is adjustable, including the bolsters, so I don’t understand why. Side‐to‐side motion was kept in check, though. I think the upgraded competition seats might be better. The armrests are in a comfortable spot, the radio is reachable and the top is easy to pop. Three levers unlock the targa, and then it’s just a matter of picking it up and getting it into the trunk. It was a little unwieldy, and I’d be concerned if an elderly person was handling my painted roof, but I was able to slip it into the trunk without too much pain. Love a targa, don’t like a convertible. Power is monstrous from the LT1. It just builds and builds and builds until it's time to shift. It’s fast without even getting near the redline. I think I only maxed out the revs once during my night in the car, and that was enough to remind me what this car is capable of in competition. But it’s nearly as good on the street. It’s somehow stiff without beating up the driver at all. I was avoiding potholes, as I always do, but you probably wouldn’t even need to. That magnetic ride control is must, must have. Steering is a little light, even though it makes things easier at slow speeds, but still direct. It does tighten and quicken up once you start moving. I’ve never track‐tested one of these, but I’d love to. Z06 Owners: Change Your Oil, Now!
Chris Demorro (CorvetteOnline.com)
When you go and drop nearly $79,000 on a car like the 2015 Corvette Z06, you’re bound to have certain expectations. Certainly you want your Z06 to live up to the lofty expectations set by General Motors, with its 650 hp supercharged LT4 motor, train‐stopping brake package, and ultra‐sleep aerodynamics. But what you might not expect is to have to change the oil after just 500 miles of thrill‐seeking driving. Yet that’s exactly what GM is recommending to owners of the 2015 Corvette Z06. The Truth About Cars reached out to GM to ask about low‐mileage engine failures on the LT4 for some early‐build Z06s, and GM responded with a state‐
ment highly suggesting owners to schedule their first oil change around 500 miles. This whole SNAFU began when a Corvette Z06 owner lamented that after just 891 miles of driving, his brand new su‐
percar engine literally went “boom,” resulting in a loud knocking and grinding from the supercharger and cylinder num‐
ber 6. GM offered to repair or replace the engine at no cost, but GM’s reaction suggests this may be a production‐level error, rather than just a random fluke. (Continued on page 15)

Z06 Oil Change
Continued...
(Continued from page 14)
In response to TTAC’s inquiry, GM’s Monte Doran sent out this statement, “We now encourage all owners to change their oil at 500 miles to remove possible contaminants created during the engine break‐in process. And, as always, we encourage the use of Mobil 1 synthetic oil — which is a factory fill for all Z06 models, and Stingray Z51 models — and encourage owners to follow the engine break‐in process detailed in the owner’s manual.” GM offers one of the best drivetrain warranties in the industry, and so far there haven’t been widespread reports of engine failure, and rather just a handful of isolated incidents. But it’s a reminder that even an engine built to withstand the rigors of 650 hp and 650 lb‐ft of torque can still succumb to something as simple as contaminated oil. Page 16

22 Corvette Hall Of Famers to Speak at Event
Aug. 13 | New for 2015 we have added a fun seminar featuring past and present Corvette Hall of Fame inductees, and 22 of them have accepted our invitation to participate! This seminar will give you the chance to ask questions, hear stories and more. Participants include: Jim Perkins, Jerry Palmer, Gib Hufstader, Joe Spielman, John Cafaro, Ray Battaglini, Randy Wittine, Gary Mortimer, David Hill, Gordon Killebrew, Allan Barker, Don Barker, Gerald Thompson, Fred Gallasch, Ron Fellows, Gary Claudio, Andy Pilgrim, Wil Cooksey, John Heinricy, Russ McLean, Rick Hendrick and Herb Fishel. Check out the complete agenda at http://www.corvettemuseum.org/registration/celebration/info.shtml. What’s In Your Museum?
Aug. 13 | New to the floor this week is a 1955 Corvette Roadster, on loan from Gary and Sharon Mortimer of Cincinnati, OH. Nicknamed the "mustard and relish" car by their grand‐
daughter, it is Harvest Gold with a Dark Green Top, one of only 120 made in 1955. Interesting fact... this was the first year for the V8. Corvettes with V8s in 1955 were identified by an enlarged gold "V" attached over the small "v" in the Chevrolet script on both front fenders. This car has undergone a frame‐off restoration and judged Top Flight at the NCRS Charlotte Regional, received a Bloomington Gold Award, and the GM Styling Excellence Award at the Concours of America at St. John's. Check out the car in our Nostalgia area on your next visit! New 2016 Corvette Colors Start Rolling Off Line
Aug. 20 | Chevrolet added two new colors to their lineup of choices for 2016, and those shades started officially making their way down the GM Assembly line on Thursday, August 13. The Corvette Racing Yellow Tintcoat and Long Beach Red Metallic Tintcoat join the carryover colors from 2015 including Shark Gray Metallic, Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic, Arctic White, Blade Silver Metallic, Black, Torch Red and Night Race Blue Metallic. This week the Museum welcomed a number of R8C Delivery customers whose cars sported Corvette Racing Yellow, and next Thursday we will welcome our first Long Beach Red Metallic Corvette. Check out all the specs and options for 2016 Corvettes on our website at http://corvettemuseum.org/specs/2016/index.shtml. Page 18

Macy’s Awards Museum Education Program
Aug. 20 | The Museum has received a $1,000 grant from Macy's to support our youth Engineering with Minecraft Camps. Across the country, support from Macy's and Bloomingdale's giving programs helped sponsor free admission to museums and exhibits, special musical performances, art exhibits, and art and theatre workshops for children. "In the past year we have hosted five Engineering with Minecraft Camps, and all five of them have sold out with long wait lists," said Museum Education Coordinator Kellie Steen. "Through this support from Macy's we have already scheduled three more camps for September 21, 2015, January 18, 2016 and February 15, 2016 when many of the area school children are out for holidays. We are thrilled with this new partnership to bring more kids out to the Museum for educational opportunities." Bowling Green's Macy's has continued to partner with the Museum by offering a Corvette Store presence within their Greenwood Mall location. Additionally, the Museum loans Corvettes to the store for display as a way to cross promote the brands. First Long Beach Red Vette Delivered
Aug. 27 | Thursday, August 27 we hosted our first R8C Museum Delivery of a Long Beach Red Corvette. In the shade and on Corvette Boulevard the car appears to be a deep, almost maroon red. But in the sunlight it sparkles much like Crystal Red, but a deeper shade. Proud new owner Bill Tichy and wife Nadine were excited to take the car back home to Irving, Texas. "This is my seventh Vette," Bill said. "I've owned everything except a C2 but not simultaneously." Bill said that while this was his first R8C Delivery, it was the third time they had visited the Museum, the first being during the grand opening in 1994.
