The World's Best Sounding
In-Ear Headphones?
Listeners Decide.
For the Love of Music - The Head Monster
M
onster was founded on the love of music.
Thirty years ago, in a garage in San Francisco,
the original Monster Cable was developed with the
goal of improving music reproduction. It was a passion.
Today, millions of audiophiles, musicians and music lovers
worldwide use Monster Cable with their audio systems,
recording studios and musical instruments.
®
®
Back in the early days of home audio, we would listen to music on huge speakers
that cost thousands of dollars and filled the entire room. Our goal was to hear
exactly what the musicians heard, to feel all the emotion of the music performance
...all for the love of music.
But today it’s a digital audio world with portable players that let us take our music
with us. As good as digital music has become, many feel that we have lost a lot
of the real music experience. While many audio enthusiasts complain that MP3
and other compressed audio formats can’t match the sound of a CD or DVD Audio,
the real loss is in the quality of the speakers. After all, we have AIFF and lossless
audio formats available to us, but you can’t hear the difference through today’s
headphones. Although there are some very good headphones today, they
don’t match the sonic experience we get from a great pair of full size speakers.
Hence, Monster Turbine In-Ear Speakers were born. They are a labor of love,
coming from my own need to have great sound when I’m traveling. Our goal
was to let you experience the sound quality and power of full size speakers
from your portable music player. That’s why we call Turbines “In-Ear Speakers,”
not headphones. The word “headphones” just doesn’t convey the sound you
are about to hear.
™
™
My design goal was to combine the detail and speed of the finest electrostatic
speakers with the deep bass of a good subwoofer into a device small enough that
you can fit in your ear. I believe we were successful. Through the miracle of new
technologies in driver design, acoustic chambers, sound isolation, and of course,
Monster Cable, we were able to achieve what only large speakers could do in the past.
Turbines deliver accuracy and detail so incredible, you’ll hear the musician’s fingers
plucking the strings of their acoustic guitars, feel the bite of a great brass section
and the raw power of electric guitars. Turbines also accurately reproduce the deep
bass of today’s hip hop music as well as the low end of a 32 foot pipe organ.
The complaint that headphones can’t reproduce deep bass just isn’t valid anymore.
The argument that truly great headphones need to be electrostatic, use separate
power supplies and amplifiers, and cost thousands of dollars, is now gone.
Best of all, we bring this experience to you at a price that everyone can afford.
We invited people to listen for themselves and compare Turbine In-Ear Speakers
with other headphones that cost many times more.
A few extras that I demanded when I’m traveling: a great carrying case that looks
and feels great, and cables that don’t tangle. These features alone are worth the price
of Turbines.
I invite you to listen to your favorite music with Turbine In-Ear Speakers, and hear
what you’ve been missing. Monster Turbines will take you to a space where you
can get away from the rat race and challenges of today’s world, to a place where
only the music matters, and its emotion fills your soul.
When that happens, the audio fanatics here at Monster will have fulfilled our design
goals...for the love of music.
Enjoy.
Monsterously,
Noel Lee,

What People Are Saying About Turbines

Famous Monsters Agree, Turbines Rock!

These Headphones are %&@# amazing! You guys did a great job on these.
– Joe Perry, Aerosmith
I can’t believe such a big sound comes from these tiny little ear buds! I’ve heard
bass this rich and deep, but only in the studio or with a very expensive pair of home
stereo speakers. This is the way music should be enjoyed...Turbines are amazing.
– George Benson
That’s what’s wrong with buds in general, no bass! The bass on these is crazy!
At last, killer ear buds!
– Tommy Shaw, Styx
I bragged to my wife about how great my Monster Headphones felt, fit,
and sounded, so she borrowed them. Now she won’t give ‘em back.
Divorce? Nah...Where’s the nearest Monster Store?!
– Rick Nielsen, Cheap Trick
I never thought that I would ever choose to listen to earphones, but with...
these phones I can go take a walk and really enjoy music. I think I listen
to them more than my Quads.
– David Chesky, pianist, composer and co-founder of Chesky records
Amazing...This is crazy...I mean, I’ve never heard music sound this good
out of something this little. Wow!
– Ryan Freidlinghaus, CEO, West Coast Customs
Monster’s made a great product with these Turbines. They are the equivalent
of a far, far far more expensive headpiece. They work really, really well,
and carry every range from low to high. They are a great Monster product.
– Brad Arnold, 3 Doors Down
AWESOME is a word that’s not over-used in this case!
– Kimo Cornwell, Hiroshima
The Monster Turbines stand up to…$1100 monitors...
– Taku, Hirano, Fleetwood Mac
They sound awesome, man! Everything is really clear.
– Kerry King, Slayer
These things are true Monsters. They kick ass even at low volume.
In the studio or on the run, these get the job done.
– Robin Zander, Cheap Trick
The low end on the Turbines was amazing. Not what I expected
from something that size. Great value! Awesome.
– Eric Bass, Shinedown
“
The Turbines capture the finest sub frequency for a huge low-end fanatic’s
and has awesome clarity on the high-end frequency which makes a great
listening experience. We are not fans of in-ears but fell in love with the optional
in-ear tips which allowed us to finally find comfort in using in-ears with the Turbines!
– Bobby and Izzy Avila, Grammy Winning Production Team
I’m a musician songwriter and producer. I work with artist like Usher, Janet Jackson
and Gwen Stefani. For me, I’m such a tech audio head, great sound is mandatory.
I gotta have great sound. The crazy thing about these turbines is I’m totally not
an in-ear guy, I hate in-ears. I always love sound cancellation and headphones
that go over my ear. The clarity you can get out of the Turbines is insane. Its like
I get bass, I get mids, I get clean highs, and its comfortable. Music is my life.
Music is everything.
– Bobby Avila, Producer
You get the boom in your skull. They sound great. For something this small
to get that wide of a sound is crazy. I usually don’t listen to in-ears because
in ears are really fatigued, it feels like a job half done. But these sound full.
You can feel the bottom in your head, and the highs are not piercing.
– IZ Avila, Producer
I carry my Turbines everywhere. They are so comfortable.
The isolation is incredible. They are so wonderful,
I love listening to them.
– June Kuramoto, Hiroshima
Amazing, like standing in front of the stage. They are super, super clear. I play hard
rock so the problem is obviously you have a lot of base, but then you have a lot going
on like the drums with bass kicks, with the guitars you usually have a couple tracks.
You have the rhythm tracks so it’s hard when your recording to listen to everything
clearly and hear each different thing, but with these things [Turbines] you hear
everything clearly. You rock!
– Vanessa, Deconstruct
The Turbine in-ears became my favorite headphones the first time I used them.
I was amazed that there was so much richness and bottom end. I didn’t believe that
was possible for in-ear style headphones. The comfort is amazing, I prefer having
them in my ears than not. The only problem I found is that I have to fight with my
son over who gets to use them first! When I go back to other in-ears now, it’s like
listening to AM radio. No comparison, the Monster Turbine In-Ears are the best!

As the leader and producer of the contemporary jazz band, Hiroshima (we our
celebrating our 30th year in the recording industry this year!) I have mixed 17
recordings of our group. I have had the opportunity to work with the very best
engineers-mix, recording and mastering. Noting the change in our industry
to earphones, I can honestly say that I now use Monster Turbines as a reference
for EVERY mix. The added perspective of ear phones is a must because so many
people listen to music through them. The Monster Turbines provide both accuracy
and real comfort. I can go the long mix hours with them on and not fatigue.
In addition, as a touring musician, they are my personal favorite for listening
to music, either from my iPod or computer on the many long flights we take
all year long. In my personal opinion, they are the best overall in-ear phones
available, and truly enhance the listener experience.
– Dan Kuramoto, Hiroshima
Yeah, they sound Great, man This is exactly what I was looking for when
I’m thinking about a perfect sound machine. In my ear, bass pumping,
you can hear the highs, everything man, This is an outstanding product.
– Osi Umenyiora, New York Giants
I love these in-ears, there amazing.
– Javier, singer Capitol Records
They’re really comfortable...they feel really nice, I don’t have to squeeze them
in, they stay in....and the sound is really good.
– Tony Maserrati, , Grammy winning Producer, Mixing Engineer,
Jay Z, R. Kelly and Beyonce
The fidelity is great...nice full bottom and the highs are crisp...pretty cool!
– Dio Saucedo, Former George Benson Band Member
These are unbelievable, they sound just like headphones!
– Jack Blades, Night Ranger
I am very impressed with the range and quality coming from these tiny earbuds.
– David Witham, George Benson Musical Director
I have never heard high definition sound in an earphone
before until I put these babies on.
– ProHoeZak, Artist/Producer/Entertainer
I used my Turbines on planes and tour buses, in recording studios and they really
deliver. The in ear seal is unreal..super snug and comfortable. This helps you focus
more on the music because outside noises just disappear. Traffic, plane engine
noises, all that annoying stuff..Gone. All you’ll hear is punchy, killer low end bass
and incredible amounts of full range, articulate stereo detail and depth...and that’s
how it should be.

Monster’s Turbine in-ear headphone delivers excellent sound quality,
with strong bass; robust, all metal construction; handsome carry case.
Turbines quality of construction feels way more impressive than most in-ear
models we’ve tested.
Descending from the ear pieces is a 45-inch-long cable that terminates
in a gold-plated straight 3.5mm plug; the wire seems less tangle prone than
most headphone cable…
All this designy goodness is all well and good, but you can just throw it by the
wayside if the headphones don’t sound good. Luckily, the Turbines don’t suffer
from this problem. “Paper Moon” from Whiskeytown’s Pneumonia album had
a rich tonal balance that’s rare on in-ear headphones. The song’s orchestration
was gorgeously portrayed so the basses and cellos had a weighty presence.
The high strings were clear, the drums’ detailing was exceptional, and Ryan Adams’
vocals had just the right balance of articulation and warmth.
Impact and pedal-to-the-metal dynamic oomph were superb. In fact, the Turbine’s
bass, midrange, and treble tonal balance were remarkably consistent.
Park them in your ears and let the good times roll.

Consider these headphones if: you know and love genuinely accurate sound,
or if you are the sort of person who enjoys “going deep” to savor the rich inner
details and textures that can spell the difference between good recordings
and great ones.
As is often the case with accomplished full-range loudspeakers, the sonic goodness
of the Turbine headphones starts right in the heart of the midrange (where most
of the music really happens), and then spreads outwards from there to encompass
high and low frequency extremes. When you first put the Turbines on, you’re likely
to notice how smooth and evenly balanced their midrange frequencies are, or note
their easygoing, unforced clarity (sonic details unfold naturally without histrionics
or artificial highlighting). Next you’ll notice how the Turbine’s bass provides rich
yet taut and powerful foundational support for the music, while steering clear
of pockets of boominess or bloated excess. Finally, you’ll find the Turbine’s highs
are clear, extended, and reasonably detailed, yet without applying false layers
treble “sheen” on top of high-frequency harmonics. In short, the Turbine’s core
sound is accurate, well balanced, and fundamentally “honest.”
But lovely though the Turbines can be on delicate material, they also have
sufficient grunt and moxie to hold their own on more full-bodied fare.
The point I’m hoping to get across is that the Turbines are versatile performers
that can capture both the sound and “feel” of quite diverse types of music—
perhaps their greatest strength.
The Turbines are very light and their soft silicone eartips feel great and seal well.
The Turbines are a just-right size: big enough to grasp easily, yet small enough
to adjust easily for an optimal fit.
– Chris Martens, Playback, 3/09

How do they sound? In a word, fantastic. Being Monster Cable’s first in-ears,
I was expecting a decent-sounding but ultimately uninspiring first attempt, but the
Turbines produce a clean, warm sound with strong imaging for an in-ear headphone
and the kind of low end that companies like Ultimate Ears usually have to put a
second driver in for. Bass is full and punchy without muddying, enough to satisfy
a bass enthusiast without pandering with an artificially inflated, sloppy lower register.
The vocal midrange is distinct and not under served like it usually is when
a headphone advertises how great its bass is. It’s tough to spend time with the
Turbines and not think that Monster’s first in-ear may already be the best headphone
at this price point.

Turbine, is Monster’s first so-to-speak ear-speaker. It is a fabulous entry into the
crowded sub-genre of headphones called inner ear monitors, inner ear phones
or canal phones.
.. get them, they sound great, look great and I think are a new benchmark for quality...
Since the Turbine sits inside your ear canal, it blocks out a certain amount of noise,
allowing you to lower your music volume, save your ears and listen
to your music, not your neighbor’s essay on the state of the automotive industry.
Monster include five sets of silicon flanges, some triple and some single. With a good
fit, the Turbines provide quality bass in benchmark-like proportions.
In purely aesthetic terms, the Turbine is a beautiful design. Lovely! Since there
is no flex in the housing and due to their slightly-large design, the Turbine
earphones are easy to insert into the ear.
The Turbine inner-earphones are fun, detailed, well constructed and do my favorite
music very well. They are veritable jack-of-all trades but do not suffer when compared
on sonic virtuousness with more expensive earphones. They are a joy to listen to.

They sound just as dynamic on jazz tracks as they do with my alt- and classic rock
tracks. Remarkable bass response for an earbud headphone. And classical, the
ultimate test for any headphone, affords them passing marks as well. These black
chrome, all-metal beauties come with multiple eartip sizes to afford any user a perfect
fit to seal out noise. And as you would expect from Monster, the cable is a Duraflex®
protective jacket for maximum tangle resistance and durability with a 24-karat gold
connector tip. Plus they have black satin carrying case. As the packaging so aptly
boasts: “Life is too short to listen to bad headphones.” Amen to that.

When paired with any of my portable devices (or non-portable ones for that matter)
the Turbines sounded great. As promised, they deliver better bass than almost any
other product at the price level, balanced out by solid mids and pretty clear highs.
If volume is an issue for you, don’t worry, the Turbines can get quite loud without
distortion, a feat that many in-ear headphones cannot accomplish. That noted, you
won’t have to pump up the volume too much because the Turbines include five sets
of eartips to ensure a proper fit.
Overall the Turbines are a very solid package. They are nicely built, comfortable,
and their sound surpassed my expectations.
Monster hit their mark with the Turbines and listeners, both casual and discerning,
will be satisfied with both their quality and value.

The new Turbine In-Ear Speakers have been engineered to satisfy true audiophiles.
That is why they are calling them In-Ear Speakers because these headphones
are able to create an experience that is rich and powerful enough to feel like actual
speakers, despite its small size. Monster Turbine In-Ear Speakers are powered
by 8mm drivers “precision-engineered for superb sonic detail that delivers
the big sound, deep bass, and clarity”. We got a chance to try them out
for ourselves and they are indeed very powerful and with an amazing
amount of clarity for in-ear headphones.

My opinion about this headphone is “Oh my god”. This is an amazing product
you have in here. Amazing product.
– Ed Brandt, West Covina, CA
…the balance of the Turbines just blows me away. …wonderful noise isolation
(I may have a good ear shape for these), superb sound.
– Rob Falkner, Overland Park, KS
These headphones are tremendous in their ability to replicate a recording
environment and all the subtle nuances that come with each. These headphones
are too good to call “headphones”, they really are in-ear speakers.
– Seth Jacobs, Sherman Oaks, CA
…the bass beats the pants off of even the best over ear headphones,
the experience is hearing your music collection truly for the first time.
– Steve Sargent, Brooklyn, NY
The bass “punch” is very well pronounced. It was like having a mini subwoofer
in my ear.
– John Mendoza, San Fernando, CA
…the Monster Turbines really showed me how much I was missing in regards
to the music quality.
– Kenneth Bode, Philadelphia, PA
The turbines have bass that had me dancing around the house before work!
It’s like I installed two 15” subwoofers in my home theater!
– Paul Kennar, Los Angeles, CA
You can feel the bass though your body . At low volumes you can still hear the music
clearly because of the clarity in the in ear speakers. At high volumes it doesn’t sound
chaotic like other headphones at high volumes.
– Damion Jadusinh, Brooklyn, NY
I’ve used headphones costing twice this that don’t blend the mids and highs this well.
– Justin K. Reed, Reynoldsburg, OH
… the in-ear sound is fantastic, it sounds like it is in the middle of my head not in my
ears. They sound better and clearer/cleaner and more balanced than any speaker
I have heard. Fantastic product!!

Love how well they fit in my ears.
– Norman Guadagno, Redmond, WA
The vocal sound was very rich and real. I could hear the breath of the artist
in between words. The was no fatigue or discomfort, they have a very natural
and ear pleasing sound. As if the artist was in the room with me.
The sound is AMAZING. Period.
– Matt Poeppel, Milwaukee, WI
I travel with my job so I watch movies on my laptop and the Turbine headphones make
it sound like you are in a I-max theater with 50,000 watts of power surrounding you.
– Troy Eckmann, Collinsville, IL
Here’s what I love about the bass. Whether I am listening to the music loud or soft,
I can still hear the bass crystal clear. In my other headphones, the bass gets lost
when I turn the volume down, but in the turbines, you can still hear it clearly It’s like
being at a live concert. I can hear every instrument with precise clarity. It is really
a joy to rediscover my collection.
– Shaquenia Nelson, Madison, WI
My other high end set can become painful and push out of my ears. The Turbines
stay put! I feel like I am in a studio. With the Turbines, I can be listening to a song
that I have heard for a really long time, and I hear a sound that I have never heard
before. I stop to listen and I realize that it is an instrument that I never noticed before.
I can hear individual sounds from different instruments.
– Terry Hassell, Tucson, AZ
The punch was there in some ways that I didn’t think would be possible in a speaker
so small. To call them impressive is like saying the Taj Mahal is a nice looking building.
They sound better than a number of full-size speakers I’ve heard. To get the quality
and clarity of the Turbines, you’d have to spend a healthy chunk of change
on speakers. Like the old saying, the devil is in the details and these headphones
are devilishly good.
Watching certain scenes in the Matrix and in Independence Day were especially
entertaining because I could still experience the explosions late at night
and not risk eviction.
– Wilton Adams, Evanston, IL
So I give your product a Five star rating, the best I can give you.
– Donald Glasser, Glendive, MT
The Turbine gave me speakers like sound in a very small portable package.
My search is finally over, these are definitely the best in-ear headphones
I have ever used. I would recommend the Turbine to anyone who desires
the best musical experience from an in-ear headphone.
