LOUVERED SHUTTERS
This specification describes the physical and functional properties of Permex Exterior Louver
Shutters manufactured by Great Northern Building Products (GN) of Louisville, KY. GN reserves
the right to alter any of the company’s products or published technical data relating thereto at
any time without notice.
Product Description
Permex louvered shutters are constructed using pre-molded cellular PVC material. The
louvered product consists of the following components:
Louvers
Styles
CPVC Rails
Tilt Rods
Hole Strip
¾” aluminum square tubing
Louver Pins
Stainless Steel staples
Oatey PVC Adhesive
3” Galvanized screws
Product Assembly
Permex louvered exterior shutters are fabricated to be fully functional and operable. All panels
are cut to pre-determined widths and lengths to be cosmetically and historically appealing and
offer functional flexibility.
Step 1
Louvers are affixed to a tilt rod using stainless steel staples. Rotating louver pins are embedded
into the louver ends that fit into specified hole strips.
Step 2
Stiles are pre-cut and the square tubing is glued into pre-extruded slots. Hole strips are then
glued and snapped into a channel profile on the stiles. The square aluminum offers structural
stability and rigidity.
Step 3
Horizontal rails are cut to measure and are processed to allow louvers to be operable. Rails are
glued to the existing stiles and reinforced with 3” Galvanized screws. A minimum of two
horizontal rails are required for the process. Additional rails may be added to be either
supportive or decorative.
