Debuting at the rodeo will be the award winning Australian-born horseman, Guy McLean. Guy’s talent as an equine performer is an artistic display of horse and trainer. Rodeo fans will be treated to his classic touch and team of horses on October 1922. According to his bio, Guy McLean was born in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, in 1975, the youngest of five strapping boys in an inner city suburb, thousands of miles from where and who he is today. The McLean family moved to Hervey Bay, Queensland, where they purchased a 1,600-acre property and formed “Susan River Homestead” Holiday Ranch resort. His parents wanted a life LIBERTY COUNTY GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY LIBERTY - The Liberty County Genealogical Society will sponsor a program on HeritageQuest Tues., Oct. 18, at 10 a.m. Members of the public are invited to attend. LILY OF THE VALLEY BAPTIST CHURCH FOOD FEST LIBERTY - Lily of the Valley Missionary Baptist Church is celebrating its Annual Food Fest Dinner. The event will be held Sat., Oct. 22, at Valley Community Church, 1507 N. San Jacinto Street in Liberty, from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited to eat on site, pickup or request delivery. FLAG RETIREMENT LIBERTY - The Liberty Boy Scouts and Liberty Venture Crew will be hosting a Flag Retirement on Sun., Oct. 23, at 4:30 p.m. The Flag Retirement will take place at New Work Family Worship Center, 2512 Grand Avenue. The community is invited to come and be part of the ceremony. If you have a flag you would like to properly retire on this evening please drop it off at 2512 Grand Avenue or bring it that evening. He has been riding solo since he was four years old. On October 19, rodeo fans will be treated to a PRCA Xtreme Bull Riding and will see a sneak peak of the Aussie’s talent. McLean and his horses will entertain the PRCA rodeo crowd October 20-22. The carnival, food vendors, and a music headliner will also be part of the fair’s schedule on those evenings. Tickets for the carnival rides are separate and can be purchased on site. The TVE Fair and Rodeo runs through October 22. Rodeo seats are general admission and are first come first served. Tickets can be purchased at the gates or online at tvefair.com. The pumpkins are available for sale at the corner of South Church Street and Hwy. 90 in Dayton. For more information see article on Page A-3. IT’S TIME FOR THE TVE! LIBERTY - The 2016 Trinity Valley Exposition Fair and Rodeo (TVE) is underway at the TVE Fairground located on FM 563, just south of Hwy. 90. The fair and rodeo run through October 22, and offers up some bone jarring rodeo action, carnival rides, and a jam-packed entertainment line up. This year’s TVE has something for all ages, some new acts and some of TVE’s favorites are returning as well. The entertainment lineup is ablaze with great musical acts. On Wed., Oct. 19, Jeff Woolsey will take the stage. Jody Booth is the featured performer Thurs., Oct. 20, and Junior Gordon headlines Fri., Oct. 21. TVE fan favorite The Rocky King Band will once again close out the fair Sat., Oct. 22. The carnival will be open each night. Tickets for the rides are separate and can be purchased on site. On Thurs., October 20, the Trinity Valley Exposition will welcome families and groups out to the TVE Fairgrounds to tour the barns, visit with youth exhibitors, enjoy the petting zoo and stroll through the many Agricultural learning stations that will be available from 9-11 a.m. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has partnered with Texas Parks and Wildlife, Texas Forest Service, Liberty County Beekeepers, Trinity Valley Tractors, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, just to name a few, to bring families and their children a fun agricultural experience. Entry for Family AgVenture activities is free. The first 300 children will receive a goodie bag. Smokey the Bear will be on the grounds to greet everyone. Tickets include access to the rodeo, carnival, and nightly dances. Rodeo seats are general admission and are first come, first served. Tickets are $5 for senior citizens 65 and over and students 4-17 years old each night of the TVE’s run. Adults can purchase tickets Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, Oct. 19, 20, 21, for $10. Tickets on Sat., Oct. 22, will be $15. Parking is $5. Tickets can be purchased at the gates or online at tvefair.com. LIBERTY - Hey, little buckaroos, get ready to ride! The TVE Kiddie Trailride saddles up Wed., Oct. 19, with riders and wagons gathering one block off Hwy. 146 on FM 1011 (Governor’s Road) just north of Liberty at the Pickett Ranch. Watch for the signs that will be posted. A hot breakfast will be served at 8 a.m. The young par- ticipants will enjoy dummy roping, face painting and stick horse riding prior to the trail ride, which gets underway at 9 a.m. Riders will join will join the TVE Opening Day Parade as it travels through downtown Liberty.
