ROTARACT CLUB
Rotaract Club will meet on the 1st and 3rd
Tuesday of each month on the New
River Campus. The next meeting will be
on November 1st at 12:15pm in Room
125. This club is great for students
looking to network, gain professional
and personal experiences and to give
back to the community.
S.I.S.T.A.
S.I.S.T.A. is meeting on Friday, Oct. 28th
at 11:00am in Building 2, Room. 242
(Beaufort Campus). S.I.S.T.A. (Sisters
Inspired to Stimulate Teamwork & Academic Excellence) is a student organization that promotes sisterhood, well being, and success for women attending
TCL.

Sheree Darien, TCL President Tom Leitzel and Mather School Alumni participated in the Beaufort Tricentennial Parade.
TCL participated in the 300th Anniversary Parade of the City of
Beaufort on Saturday, September 17, 2011. TCL students and staff
enjoyed representing the rich history the Technical College of the
Lowcountry has within the city of Beaufort and greeting the
community members along the parade route. The parade float
showcased the beginning of TCL, when it was known as the Mather
School, with the Mather School logo as well as a portrait of the
founder, Mrs. Mather.

October 26th at 12pm in the Auditorium
of Building 12. Open to faculty, staff
and students who have an interest and
desire to sing gospel music.

Responsibilities: I am responsible for
overseeing several functional units in division of Student Affairs that provide services
and support for TCL students at all campuses. Student Records, Financial
Aid, Student Support Services, Campus Counseling, Retention Services,
Upward Bound, Educational Talent Search, Campus Life, Disability Services
and the Career/Transfer office are all part of the Student Affairs Division. The Office of Student Affairs, located on the second floor of MacLean
Hall on the Beaufort Campus, is responsible for assisting students with general concerns, discipline matters, grievances, health claims, personnel matters, the Perkins grant and many other administrative functions.

oversight of the day-to-day activities in

serves as the primary telephone contact and walk-in support for the Student
Services area and assists prospective and matriculating students in the areas

and it assists with Probation and Suspension and disciplinary cases.

and funding for all TCL students. My job is to ensure that the college provides the appropriate funding to the students at TCL based on their eligibility and within the confines of complex federal, state, and local regulations.
In addition, I monitor updates from federal and state authorities to provide
regulatory updates to the executive committee.

also oversee all student organizations on campus

advise and mentor students on academic probation, and help with registration for these students. I also organize the Work Study Program for students

TCL Foundation Now Accepting Applications for Scholarships!
The TCL Foundation (TCLF) is currently accepting scholarship applications for the Spring 2012 semester.
TCLF scholarships are awarded to cover the costs of tuition and books only. All students who meet the following requirements are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must:
Be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for the semester for which they are applying.
Be registered for Spring 2012 classes by Thursday, January 5, 2012.
Have an official cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher at the time of application.
Have unmet financial need for tuition and/or books.
Complete the TCL Financial Aid Application process, including a FAFSA.
Qualified students should submit a complete scholarship application packet to the TCL Foundation, Building
6, Beaufort Campus by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, 2011. A complete application packet is
required for consideration.
Oysters by the Bay
The TCL Foundation will host “Oysters by the Bay” on
Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 6-10 p.m. in the TCL
Beaufort Campus parking lot overlooking the Beaufort
River. Tickets are on sale now for $25 with all proceeds
going toward creating scholarships for deserving TCL
students. The cost of admission includes all the oysters,
hot dogs and chili you can eat, as well as live music
entertainment by Bluffton’s own Jim Davidson. Beer will
be available for purchase.
The TCL Foundation welcomes student volunteers to assist
the night of the event. We are also looking for students
that would like to represent their TCL organization or
academic program at the event. If you are interested in
