APC Competition # 2014-12-01 APC Employment Opportunity Mental Health and Addictions Policy Analyst (Full Time Term Position until March 31, 2015) Description: Provide Mental Health and Addictions coordinator duties for APC Health Department. Who Can Apply: Applicants should possess a relevant post-secondary Degree from a recognized post-secondary institution. A combination of comparable, relevant and recent education and experience will also be considered. Experience: Applicants must have at least 3-5 years of experience working with First Nations in the area of Mental Health, Addictions or health related issues. The candidate should also demonstrate experience in developing and implementing work plans. Abilities & Skills: Demonstrated proficiency in computer software such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Email, Outlook, browsers, etc. Knowledge of First Nation communities and organizations in the region. Strong organization, communication, time management and writing skills. Strong office management skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team setting. Ability to speak Mi’kmaq or Maliseet would be an asset Essential Functions and Duties: Oversee and manage all Mental Health and Addictions contracts including: Demonstration Projects, Mental Health and Addictions Strategic Action Plan, Collaborative Approaches to Care projects, strength based training, cultural support person, and other relevant contracts; Develop an advisory group in order to accomplish the following: o To provide recommendation and feedback on development of evidence tools/approaches for screening, assessment and treatment planning that focus on client strengths; o To provide recommendation and feedback on development of evidence tools/approaches for referrals, discharge planning and case management; and, o To begin the process of starting to collect feedback on identifying any potential legal/policy barriers at the community district and/or provincial levels at Advisory Groups meetings Completion and revision of minutes and circulation of approved minutes to committees and communities as required; As necessary, provide policy support for the Resolution Health Support Program; Completion of relevant mental health and addictions research; Dissemination of health material to communities, health directors, nurses, health technicians and Chiefs; As required, complete outreach services in order to promote APC’s Mental Health and Addictions initiatives; Ensure that Sharepoint and webpage are up to date as requested by supervisor; and, Other duties requested by supervisor.
