A Note from the President…

Welcome to the very first issue of our WE-CI Newsletter!

We are proud of our members’ accomplishments and this is a great way to
share them with our members. If you have an award that you have received or
your business has reached a milestone, etc., we would love to hear about it.
You can give the information to Sara Lieber at one of our meetings or you can
email it directly to Sara at [email protected]. Many thanks to
Stephanie McDannald and Sara Lieber for their help with this newsletter.
We are looking for members who may want to place a business card ad in
our newsletter, possibly 4 each month at a cost of $5/month. If we have more
than 4 requesting ad placement, we will rotate them among our members.
The ads should be business card size (3.5” x 2”) and be in pdf or jpg format.
Send your ad to Stephanie McDannald at [email protected]. Please
call Stephanie for details and space availability. Payments should be sent to

MEMBER NEWS….

Deb Marsaglia, president of Haenig Electric Company, and Rachel
Broughton, president of Perry Broughton Trucking and Excavating,
Inc., were highlighted in the February issue of The Springfield Business
Journal in an article on women in the construction industry.

Emerson Press, of Divernon was highlighted in March in the State Journal Register. Stephanie Emerson McDannald is in charge of marketing
for Emerson Press.

Evelyn Brandt Thomas was honored in the May, June, July issue of Senior News & Times for the many ways she has given back to our community.

Deb Marsaglia received one of the Women of Influence awards sponsored by Security Bank and the Springfield Business Journal. Other
WE-CI members who have received the Women of Influence award are:
Rachel Broughton and Evelyn Brandt Thomas.
Monthly Meeting Highlights
The June meeting was a very informative and festive meeting. President
Sheila Mack welcomed the members of WE-CI to the Clayville Historic Site on
June 12, 2012. Members were invited to share in tours of the site and also
enjoyed a “high tea” prepared by WE-CI member Susan Shaw of Sweet Betty
Jane’s Catering.

A special thanks to our speaker Susan Day for an informative presentation on
her quest to provide the Broadville Inn with window treatments and floor coverings. The slide presentation explained her long journey to find the proper
materials and styles. Thanks also to Evelyn-Brand Thomas for her time and
donations to the site.
