2016 International Convention First-Timer Tips
2016 International Convention First-Timer Tips Indianapolis, Indiana, July 19–24 Will this year’s International Convention be your first? If so, here are some tips to help you prepare for and get the most from your trip to Indianapolis: • Upon arrival, check in at the registration area in the JW Marriott to pick up your name badge and firsttimer ribbon. The JW Marriott is located at 10 S. West Street. • The 2016 Indianapolis Convention App is a great tool to help you navigate the Convention. The App provides agendas, speaker information, maps, restaurants, and more. It will be available closer to the event. Watch for notices on theConnection regarding when the app is available to download. • Plan to attend a special reception for First-Timers to get oriented to the Convention and to make connections with other members. The day and time are to be announced closer to the event. • Attend a Zone Breakfast with other members from your state on Thursday morning. See the program or the Convention mobile app for more information. • Consider bringing Gideon business cards to exchange contact information with fellow members. Cards can be ordered online through theConnection Store. • Wear comfortable shoes. • Wear layers. It may be hot outside, but it can be very cool in the Convention rooms. Also keep in mind that attire throughout the Convention should be traditional business dress (see the Guide Book). • Wear clothes with pockets for carrying Personal Workers Testaments. Remember to have some handy as you travel to and from Convention. You will also be able to purchase additional New Testaments during the Convention. • Plan to host an international outreach delegate for a meal. Some of these members may need help paying for meals while at Convention, and you can help by taking a member (and sometimes his wife and family) to a meal. Learning about the overseas ministry from members who live there is one of the great experiences of the Convention! You can sign up and choose your delegate(s) during registration. • Plan to stop by the supply table and check out the materials available for sale. • Convention DVDs will be available for purchase and are a great way to share Convention sessions with your camp. Contact the Conferences and Conventions Department at 615-564-5270 if you need more information.
