Message From the Board-
Message from the General Manager
Ron Botello, Board Chairman
Bryant Early
Although living in San Antonio means we
can usually play golf the year round, April
marks the beginning of Spring and the
official golf season. With our courses
coming out of their transition period and
our fairways getting fuller and returning to the green color we all
want to see. In March we had a very successful Easter weekend for
kids and their families which included breakfast with the Easter
Bunny and an Easter egg hunt held on the Saturday before Easter.
In addition to multiple member activities available, April also
brings us one of our major events open to members and the general
public. The Taste of the Northside will occur on April 20 th with
approximately 8,000 in attendance. This is held during Fiesta and
provides an opportunity to showcase our club. CBIGG, the owners,
have dedicated funds to be spent in 2016 for improvements to our
club. The Board of Governors is working with them in providing
where those funds should be utilized to improve multiple areas of
the club. These areas will include the main clubhouse, tennis, the
golf courses, and the swimming pool. Some of those projects have
already begun and will continue throughout the year as we strive to
make our club even better. Come out and enjoy the various activities that are available, there is something for everyone. I look
forward to seeing you at the Club.
Ron Botello, Board Chairman
Club Hours of Operation for Taste of Northside
-Wednesday, April 20th
March although tough in some regard, I’m glad
to see that we are moving forward as a
club. The selection committee, headed by
Board Chairman Ron Botello, has started the
process of interviewing viable candidates for
our new Director of Golf. As mentioned in a
prior communication, this process will take
time and so it should as we want to make sure we find the best qualified individual to meet our needs here at Sonterra. In the meantime,
Heather Levow has done a great job stepping in to keep the pro shop
running, thank you Heather!
As we officially transition into spring, Membership enrollment is on
the rise once again and despite our normal attrition, new additions to
the club are apparent. A big thank you to those of you that have
invited your family, friends and colleagues to join the club during the
first 3 months of the year. Please don’t forget about our company
sponsored trip to Las Vegas for the top 8 individuals that refer the most
new Members to the Club through October of this year.
Before you know it summer will be here!! Just a reminder that our
Sonterra Stingray swim team registration will be in the Ivy room on
Sunday, April 10th from 3pm-5pm. To learn more about our great
team please visit our new website. Along those lines, our Sonterra
summer camp will be back bigger and more exciting than ever. You
can also visit our website for each week’s theme. Be sure to register
early as these camps fill up pretty fast.
Finally, I want to say thank you all for your support during my first six
months. Although we have had our challenges, we will continue pressing forward as we strive to exceed your expectations.
Until next time,
Bryant Early, General Manager
Any Cars left on the property after 3pm without a parking
pass will be towed at the owners expense.

**Sonterra Cup**
MGA Tournament Handicapping
Just a reminder – The MGA has adopted a new tournament
handicapping system for 2016. For events where individual
scores are posted (there are 5 such events in 2016), a
player’s handicap will be based on his MGA tournament
performance. Only events where an individual score can be
posted will count toward a player’s MGA handicap – thus,
no shamble, scramble or other event based on team
performance will be used.
To ensure accuracy and the maximum possible fairness to
all, a score must be posted for each hole in a tournament
counting toward an individual’s handicap. Failure to post will
result in a score of “par” for the hole involved.
The Sonterra Cup is a yearlong event. The top 40 on the MGA Money
List, with money earned for participation and performance, automatically
qualify for the Sonterra Cup tournament. An additional four spots will be
earned in the last three MGA tournaments, keeping the excitement going
to the end. The Sonterra cup is contested in a Ryder Cup format and will
be held this year on November 14th and 15th. Each MGA member is
automatically entered into the Sonterra Cup by signing up for any MGA
tournament. The Sonterra Cup top ten standings to date are:
1. Jay Beyler
6.
RichardFlournoy
2. Dennis Cloud
7.
Stephen Geri
3. Brian Coulter
8. John DeLoach
4. Paul Larson
9.Dan Wadsworth
5. Todd Fields
10. Scott Barton
Detailed standings are updated each month and posted in the Men’s Card
Room.

Tennis News- Michelle Dodier, Director of Tennis
What a ‘fun”tastic first three months of the year
we’ve had. All the leagues are going strong and
many of our USTA teams from Sonterra are
heading towards playoffs and sectional
tournaments. Hopefully we will be adding a few
more signs to our collection. April is a very
busy month for us for many reasons. We are in
our final stages of preparation for our premier
event of the year—The Grand Slam Member
Guest Tournament. It is going to be
FANTASTIC! The menu looks divine, the wine,
the casino night, the Rebecca Creek Tasting, the
silent auction and raffle items all are smashing.
Oh and the tennis –well you won’t find
competition from a member guest tournament like you will find here.
Make sure you mark your calendar to come out and watch your
buddies play and enjoy the beautiful decorations the committee has
designed this year.
April also brings summer junior program brochures, Lone Star Levels
Tournament, Taste of the Northside, Fiesta, registration for the Club
Doubles Championship and an inter club with River Place and
Dominion. For more details on all these events please contact the pro
shop. We will be emailing everyone with our reminders so you don’t
miss an event.
There are so many events coming up and we will keep hitting you with
alerts as we get them.
Happy Fiesta!

tennis player- it also gives back to our community by
donating $10,000.00 to Any Baby Can. To date we have
donated $100,000.00 to our local charities. Many thanks
go our tournament committee (past and present) for the
many hours of work they dedicated to reaching our goal
each and every year. They never settled for anything but
the best—the WOW effect is at the top of our list. So if
you are playing in the tournament prepare yourself for a
lot of fun. If you aren’t playing please come out and watch
your friends, view the beautiful decorations and partake of
all the silent auction and raffle items we are featuring. We
will be forwarding more information throughout the
month.
Club Doubles Championship begins May 9th
This is the first of our trifecta of club championships
events. It is a week-long tournament (unless it rains) and
you must be available to play all week and in the evening.
