We wish to thank the Father McGrath Hall
CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION 98 RIVERSIDE AVENUE WESTPORT, CT 06880-4284 28 October 2001 The 125th Anniversary Mass & Dedication of McGrath Hall Dear Parish Family of Assumption, It is my pleasure to express to you, my deep joy and sincerest gratitude as we celebrate our 125th Anniversary as a parish family within the Diocese of Bridgeport, and as we gather as well, to bless and dedicate Father Frank C. McGrath Hall. First, I extend to our beloved Bishop, the Most Reverend William E. Lori, STD, a warm welcome and thanks for his being with us last evening at the Continental Manor and now at the celebration of the Eucharist, to lead us in prayer, preach to us, and to both bless and dedicated our parish hall. I likewise offer the same sentiments of welcome and thanks to two of our former Pastors: the Reverend Philip T. Morrissey who provided outstanding pastoral leadership and service to Assumption from 1974 thru 1993. It is my hope to invite Father Morrissey back again in the future for the restoration and dedication of the Father Philip T. Morrissey Gymnasium. Also, I thank and welcome back the Reverend Frank C. McGrath who from 1993-1999 provided outstanding pastoral service and leadership to Assumption. Both Father Morrissey and Father McGrath deserve our praise in the presence of our Bishop for their hard work and priestly service, as we joyfully gather this day for our 125th. From Father Patrick Keating in 1876 thru Father Frank C. McGrath in 1999, the parish has been truly blessed with faithful and dedicated leadership and no less blessed with religious sisters, deacons as well as thousands of lay women and men, thousands of families, who have been extraordinarily generous with their gifts, service and charity. The faith has been passed on generation to generation with grace and precision, on account of our families, religious and priests. I close asking our beloved Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ and our Lady of the Assumption, to watch over you, keep you safe, and one day reward you for your magnificent and unique good works which have kept our parish alive and well these past 125 years. May God, who has begun this good work in you, one day bring it to completion. Congratulations, warm good wishes and may I remain Sincerely yours in Christ Rev. Thomas P.
