STUMBLING INTO THE LIGHT
Ask & Receive came into being because it was needed. It came to Sandi
and myself out of an attempt to heal my terrible allergies and then as a
way to help us both through some serious life stresses. Sandi and I met
about three years ago when she moved into the area. We both like to think
we successfully manifested the other because our unique needs, skills,
and interests so complement each other. At the time we met I was
struggling with severe allergies and had tried everything both medical and
alternative to heal them with minimal effect. Then Sandi sprang into my
life: someone who has dedicated herself to treating allergies, sensitivities,
and focusing on the primary biological origins of most medical and
psychological conditions. My own therapeutic focus had been on treating
trauma and limiting beliefs which I saw at the heart of most psychological
conditions. Without really knowing each other Sandi and I had both been
on a very similar journey as we struggled to learn more to help our clients.
As with most dedicated therapists our focus has always pushed the
envelope of what was considered ―responsible‖. When we began as
therapists (Sandi in the 70‘s and me in the 80‘s) we rejected the popular
focus on psychoanalytic therapies in favor of the objective precision of
Behaviorism. Eventually we began to see behaviorism‘s short comings
especially in terms of handling systems issues and trauma, so our focus
shifted to systems based therapies and we began to learn ever better
ways of treating trauma. In the 90‘s we were both pulled toward the
emerging field of energy medicine and both of us became fascinated with
its power and effectiveness.
When A&R first emerged we were struggling to treat my allergies. We had
already used every possible form of allergy treatment and my nose was
still running. Out of our frustration Sandi decided to ask my body (see
section on muscle testing) if ―there is a part of my being that knows how to
heal my allergies‖. We were both somewhat surprised to get a positive
response, but we excitedly asked those parts to ―please heal them for me
now‖. We were even more surprised when my stubborn sinuses began to
dry up and I was able to start breathing normally.
This led to the exciting period of discovery in which we still find ourselves.
We quickly discovered that this simple Ask and Receive process was
6
extremely flexible. Our existential leap into the Ask & Receive procedure
grew out of a combination of Tom‘s Higher States Therapy along with
Sandi‘s Allergy Antidotes. Higher States helps to shift the client into very
high levels of consciousness from which they have access to information
not available in normal awareness. Allergy Antidotes uses muscle testing
to find and heal the body‘s defensive reaction to the environment at levels
that are typically below the level of conscious awareness. Using both of
these approaches we were able to more fully develop A&R as well as
discover some important guiding principles of consciousness
development.
As we were excitedly showing A&R to our friends and co-workers we were
asked to share it with some families who had kids with autism. It was
pointed out that if it worked, this technique would be perfect for this difficult
population because of its ease of use and minimal dependence on
language. We have been gratified to see so many families embrace the
concept and use it to help their children. In return, we have been
privileged to be shown a window into a profoundly different experience of
reality (which we call autism) that has helped shed light on how all of us
create the worlds in which we live.
We have gone on to use A&R to treat ―physical‖ issues such as allergies,
sensitivities, pain, and arthritis. We have used it to treat ―neurological‖
issues such as sensory perception, autoimmune discrimination, and
perceptions of threat or safety. And we have used it for ―psychological‖
issues such as trauma and limiting beliefs. A&R has taught us that we are
only limited by our own imagination and willingness to surrender our pain
and expectation. We do more harm by not asking for enough than by
asking too much.
Ask & Receive is truly an evolution and combination of various concepts.
It includes Energy Psychology protocols of holding a thought or substance
in our energy field. It incorporates muscle testing as a way to identify
problems & check for clearing. Higher States gives us access to answers
that are otherwise unavailable, and concepts of self development of self
help to utilize these techniques to effect changes in our behaviors. We
can see how early problems in development of self causes more obstacles
later. Getting off track at a very early age causes more disruption from
reality then later trauma.
7
WHAT IS ASK & RECEIVE?
For every part
of self with a
problem – there
is a part of
being with an
answer.
Ask & Receive recognizes that most of the stubborn
problems in our lives are the products of our attachment to
ego. Virtually all other therapeutic techniques work within the
bounds of ego to help us slowly shift our behaviors and our
thinking in more healthful directions. Ask & Receive bypasses
all this by simply finding and accessing higher parts of our
self which are beyond the bounds of ego, and asking for help
and healing. Ask & Receive accesses one‘s Higher being to
get answers to physical or emotional symptoms.
A&R begins with a pretest to determine a person‘s congruence with the
desired goal. This pretest can be done in 3 ways: muscle testing, Felt
Sense, or SUDS level (subjective units of distress).
If it is determined that the person is not fully in congruence with the
desired goal, the practitioner has the person repeat statements that ask
the higher part of their being that knows the solution to give the
information to the person now.
.
After the A & R process, the person again repeats the initial statement in
the post test. If there is any continued non-alignment with the goal, the
obstacles are identified and Ask & Receive is performed for those
obstacles.
For many people it is simplest to think of Ask & Receive as structured
prayer. Virtually all spiritual traditions teach the importance of prayer and
testify to its power and effectiveness. It is rare however for them to teach
the actual process of prayer or to give a dynamic understanding of why
and how it works. This manual will show you how to effectively use Ask &
Receive to transform your life.
Higher States shows that our conscious awareness is only a small
sampling of a huge number of possible awareness. They are all readily
available through muscle testing or other non-conscious mind techniques.
8
Ask & Receive is based on the assumption that for every part of self with a
problem there is a part of being with an answer. Higher States work gave
us the understanding that we always have the answer. We just have to
ask the right part, the right question. Ask & Receive consists of repeating
several statements specifically designed to request information from that
part of your being that has the answer and bring it to our current body and
consciousness.
We currently have three ways to guide what we work on and if we have
had a successful transfer of information.

WHAT ASK & RECIVE IS NOT –
Although we consider Ask & Receive part of Energy Psychology, it is not a
tapping or holding technique. Many people have been frantically reading
this manual in search of the specific tapping points. You will not find them.
As we will discuss later, while Ask & Receive has been successfully used
in conjunction with various Meridian Tapping Techniques, Ask & Receive
is an effective stand alone treatment.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
In Ask & Receive we are directly asking a part of our larger being to do the
healing. Our being refers to that which has a bigger, higher broader
perspective on the issue. It is based on the concept that your being is
vastly greater and more powerful that you are aware. It is based on the
belief that this higher, broader part of yourself always has the answer to
your question. Ask & Receive is looking beyond the ego or personality for
the solution. ―Beyond each man in a fashion continuous with him there
exists a larger power which is friendly to him and to his ideals.‖ (William
James.)
9
Ask & Receive is all about asking for what you want and then receiving it.
In order for A&R to be effective, you need to:
1.
2.
3.
4.
Identify what you want.
Believe it is possible to have what you want.
Realize you deserve to have what you want.
Know that there is a part of your being that knows
how to get it.
It is about having your dreams come true.
Before jumping right into the meat of the A&R process, it is important to
take a moment to acquaint you with some background on how and why
the process works.
For those of you that just can‘t wait, you can go to page ____ to see the
specific Ask & Receive format. Please be aware that to truly become a
master in the art of Ask & Receive, you will benefit from the following
understanding of the conceptual framework.
“Your being is
vastly greater
and more
powerful than
you think.
A&R is based on a fairly complex understanding of the nature
of consciousness. Essentially, we are not singular
personalities. Our apparent ―self‖ identity is based on an
illusion composed of our attention, habit, and the human
tendency to personalize experience.
Instead, we are composed of many fragments, or parts, that exist in
relationship to each other within the Self. These parts exist at varying
levels of complexity. Some of these parts are accessible to consciousness
while others aren‘t. Some of these parts have access to language while
others don‘t. Some of these are focused on physical functioning such as
maintaining heart rate or blood pressure while others are perceptual or
belief sets which structure and filter experience.
These parts exist in relationship to each other as well as in relationship
with the environment. They are often not conscious and largely invisible to
the individual who continues to believe he or she is a singular personality.
10
These parts are often not integrated within the individual and frequently in
conflict, directing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors in opposing ways.
These parts can also be perceived from various perspectives that provide
differing levels of complexity. Changing the perspective changes the
meaning of the perception. All this complexity results in a great deal of
confusion and bad communication within the individual. This leads us to
want one thing and do another, to hurt those we love and to engage in
―out-of-control‖ behavior.
ASK & RECEIVE: THE UNDERLYING PRINCIPLES
The complex part is in understanding how the Self is
composed. People who just jump right into A&R without this
“Personality
understanding are likely to become frustrated and feel
is a
unsuccessful. A&R asserts that personality is a perceptual
perceptual
error. Essentially it does not exist, we only think it does.
error.”
Personality is composed of beliefs we hold about ourselves
that form a filter between us and reality. This filter can be
useful or not depending on how we choose to use it but it is not
in itself real. Changing the beliefs changes the filter which changes the
perception. These beliefs are always limiting because they are filtering out
most information and selectively focusing on perceptions which fit the
filter. Because we tend not to question our filters (because they are largely
invisible to us) we identify with our beliefs and perceptions turning them
into personality.
Everything that happens to us is a function of how our beliefs are filtering
our experience. Our perception is that problems or negative conditions
arise outside of ourselves and then impact us. The result is that we react
in ways that are opposite to what is useful. We defend, contract, fight and
oppose, which produces similar reactions in others around us. Once we
understand that our limited beliefs and perceptions are at fault we can
begin to take effective actions that won‘t produce these negative
reactions. We can release our limiting beliefs and open to experience.
When you watch little children play one might do or say something to
―make‖ another angry. That child will then cry, yell, hit, or run away which
11
will ―make‖ the other child upset. Each child will believe that he is the
victim of the other. Their perceptions are telling them different information
about the same events.
As we mature our ability to adopt broader perspectives, that include others
and systems, can develop but they are still fundamentally limited by our
perceptual apparatus. We are built to look out rather than in.
Once we understand that virtually all experience is the product of our
perceptions, we discover its inherent power. Rather than trying
unsuccessfully to control experience we can turn our attention to our own
perceptions and beliefs. If you aren‘t happy, what beliefs and perceptions
are creating this reality for you?
We become detectives of our own unconscious, always asking ourselves
the question ―Why am I creating this?‖ ―What limiting belief do I have that
would create this problem?‖ ―What must I believe to be true to create and
maintain this issue in my life?‖
Many people don‘t like to think of themselves as being this powerful, but
we all create our own experience. Now at least we have a tool to start
discovering how our own confusion and trauma has splintered our
perception and caused so much of our suffering.
“We are
built to
look out
rather
than in.”
IF YOU AREN’T YOUR PERSONALITY WHO ARE YOU?
We are so much larger than we think we are. Our limited
perceptions have reduced our sense of self to a bunch of limiting
beliefs. In truth all of us are unlimited by anything outside of
ourselves. God (however you define Him) is not separate from us.
We all have power, knowledge and perceptions that are not
limited by our bodies, our senses or our beliefs. All we need to gain
access to these parts of self is openness and a willingness to ask. There
are parts of your being that already know why you are unhappy and they
even know how to fix it. There are parts of your being that know why your
joints hurt or why you can‘t seem to get ahead. These parts are available
12
to you right now all you have to do is ask. They are willing to start healing
you right now all you have to do is be willing to receive.
As an aid in asking and receiving we like to use muscle testing as an
added indication that these parts of our ―out of conscious‖ awareness are
responding to our intention but if you are not yet comfortable with muscle
testing the process can be done with nothing more complicated than a felt
sense.
WHAT IS MUSCLE TESTING
One way to perform Ask & Receive is to use a simple process called
muscle testing to bypass the limitations of our conscious thought and
access more of our parts, where they exist at varying levels of perception.
Not only can we use it to find the parts that are not serving us, but we can
also use it to find those parts of our being that know how to heal them.
With A&R, healing dysfunctional parts becomes a straightforward
business of detection and resolution. Beginning with what we most want,
we start healing while continually looking for feedback and adding to what
we are requesting.
We might start by asking to sleep better and noticing perhaps some
improvement in falling asleep but still waking during the night. So then we
might ask to wake less or fall back to sleep easily. Then we might notice
more improvement but not on nights when we are worried about work, so
we might treat for being able to sleep restfully even when worried about
work. Some issues may change immediately, while others may take many
days or weeks of effort as we learn to specify what we are asking for.
The art of muscle testing was developed by Dr. George Goodheart in the
1960's, and refined by Dr. John Diamond in the 1970's. Their discoveries
are leading to profound changes in the treatment of physical and
emotional disturbance. Among many other things, what they discovered is
that the body reacts physically to states of congruence and incongruence.
This physical reaction takes the form of a weakening of the muscles when
presented with incongruent stimuli and a strengthening of the muscles
when presented with congruent stimuli. While this reaction can be very
subtle in some people, it appears to be a reliable effect (Energy Diagnostic
and Treatment Methods by Dr. Fred Gallo provides an in depth summary
13
of the experimental validation of muscle testing). Not only does this
phenomenon appear to affect everyone, but it affects every muscle of the
body. Therefore, the actual testing can utilize any convenient muscle in
the body.
This weakening of muscles when one is not in alignment with a statement,
substance or other stimuli is truly a physiological phenomenon. It was
used as a way to interrogate spies during the Second World War. They
were unable to have the same amount of muscle strength when telling a
lie.
In muscle testing, we are assessing whether our body is congruent with
the frequency of the substances or in alignment with the truth of the
repeated statements. Muscle testing validity can be verified merely by
noting that you have more difficulty holding a gallon jug of water when you
say untrue statements.
Muscle testing validity has been scientifically studied. Dr. Daniel Monti,
psychiatrist and Chairman of the department of Integrative Medicine at
Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia, PA conducted a research study
reported in Perceptual and Motor Skills that documents the validity of
results obtained through muscle testing.
College students made
statements of their real name or a false name (Ralph if male and Alice if
female.) In addition they stated that they were an American citizen or a
Russian citizen. All of the student subjects were American citizens. Each
subject was muscle tested for each of the statements. It was found that
they were able to withstand 17% more pressure for 57% more time when
repeating true statements. Clearly the muscle testing procedure was able
to distinguish true and false statements. The exciting aspect of this
experiment is that the subjects were being muscle tested with a
computerized dynameter which was clearly objective. The results were
totally independent of a human tester whose pressure might vary while
pressing on the arm of the subject.
TYPES OF MUSCLE TESTING
Muscle testing can be done in many ways. The traditional muscle test
entails the practitioner testing the Deltoid muscle of a client. In doing this
the practitioner is getting information from the person‘s energy system.
14
We can also test a person who is touching someone else (usually a child,
animal or sick person). In this instance the practitioner is gathering
information from the other person. The person being muscle tested is the
surrogate for the child or animal.
We can also muscle test ourselves. We can do this to get information for
ourselves or on behalf of another.
Types of Muscle Testing

Arm – Deltoid

Arm – Deltoid for someone else – Surrogate

Self Test

Self test on behalf of another
Traditional muscle testing requires two people: one subject and one tester.
The subject typically extends an arm out from his side while the tester
presses down "challenging" the muscle. In doing so the tester learns to
feel the difference in muscle tension between congruent and incongruent
states. Most testers describe a congruent state as "strong" or "resilient",
and an incongruent state as testing "weak" or "mushy". Most subjects
describe that it is easy to hold their arms against pressure in the
congruent state but difficult to impossible in the incongruent state.
Dr. Diamond discovered that many things can put someone in an
incongruent state. Exposure to allergens or toxins for example will make
someone test "weak". This can be true even for very subtle toxins which
the person does not consciously notice such as fluorescent lighting or
pesticides on an apple. Other types of congruence vs. incongruence
include telling the truth vs. a lie, or thinking about a negative event or
emotion vs. thinking about a loved one or positive event.
Because of its broad applicability, ease of use, and portability, muscle
testing is fast becoming a preferred "projective measure" for many
15
psychotherapists. Psychotherapy has long sought such tools.
Psychoanalysis traditionally used dream interpretation and word
association. Gestalt therapy used another form of dream interpretation
and dissociative techniques. Hypnosis used ideomotor reflex, and the
field of psychology in general developed a range of "projective" tests such
as the Rorschach and Thematic Aspersion Test. The intention behind all
of these techniques and tests is to tap into information that is generally out
of consciousness.
Useful as all of these techniques can be to the trained practitioner, they
have all been criticized as being unreliable or reflecting the prejudice or
world view of the interpreter. Muscle testing is another projective test, and
like the others, it has also been accused of being unreliable or too easily
influenced by the wishes or expectations of the client or practitioner. In
experienced hands however, it can be a very useful tool, especially when
used in ways that can be independently validated. This tutorial will not only
teach you the mechanics of muscle testing but, how to use A & R to
quickly find and resolve your blocks to reliable testing. While the
mechanics are easy to learn, refining the process and becoming adept will
take time and a willingness to explore your own limiting beliefs.
16
MUSCLE TESTING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Have the person being tested put arm out to side parallel to the
floor with elbow straight.
2. Test on side of person with one hand on wrist and one hand on
shoulder.
3. Test with 2 fingers, 2 pounds of pressure for 2 seconds.
4. Use consistent, steady pressure.
5. Have an objective attitude – keep mind clear of expectations
6. Explain this is not a fighting match – it is a way to get information
that would otherwise be unavailable.
It is helpful to have a consistent method to calibrate your muscle testing.
You can use the set of 4 statements below to begin you sessions. It
allows you a way to identify how the person‘s arm is going to react. Some
people‘s arms drop completely while others barely move. Because we are
actually measuring a response in the person‘s energy system, the arm
response has nothing to do with the size, weight or sex of the person
being tested.
It is also helpful for the person being tested to have a clear idea of what
you are expecting of them. Everyone wants to be a good patient, a good
student. Often people are confused about what they are supposed to do.
These questions have clear, known answers. We can continue to work on
them until you both feel comfortable with the responses.

If you are having difficulty distinguishing between the congruent and
incongruent responses you can utilize the Spindle Cell Technique. It is
another physiological phenomenon that pushing together the fibers of the
belly of a muscle will cause weakness and pulling apart the fibers will
cause strengthening.
Using your thumb and index finger you can either pull apart or push
together the fibers of the anterior deltoid muscle as shown as the
darkened area of the diagram.
18
During the Ask & Receive procedure if you begin to get unusual muscle
testing responses, merely return to the 4 questions to calibrate again.
This is the general approach to muscle testing. This will give you a
positive or negative (yes / no) response for anything you wish to ask the
body. As you are gaining experience with this process it is useful to work
with a subject (or with Self Muscle Testing) and work through the various
calibration exercises listed below.
WORKING WITH ANOTHER PERSON
When testing another person it is best to first check to make sure that this
person tests reliably. It is possible that because of toxins or other
imbalances the person does not test as expected. Test in this order.
1) Challenge the muscle by pushing down on the arm as the person tries
to resist while not focusing his mind on anything. Make sure that the arm
is strong and that you calibrate for yourself what a positive response
feels like. This is called testing in the ―clear‖.
2) Have the person place his other hand (from the arm which is not being
tested) palm down on the top of his head. Test the arm. It should test
strong. Have the person turn his hand over and put the back of his hand
on top of his head. Test the arm. It should test weak.
3) Have the person state: ―I want to be happy‖ and test. It should test
strong. Have the person state ―I want to be miserable‖ and test. It should
test weak.
4) You can now proceed confidently with A & R.
It is important that the novice challenge his or her ability to test in ways
which provide objective feedback. It should be expected that initially your
accuracy will not be very high. If this happens, do not immediately blame
muscle testing, instead practice, learn how to resolve the problems which
come up, and treat yourself for limiting beliefs which you might
subconsciously hold which affect your testing.
19
Now that you have this basic understanding of Muscle Testing you may
choose to continue reading about how to muscle test yourself, or skip
forward to the calibration exercises.
In performing the calibration
exercises it may be necessary to use A & R to resolve limiting beliefs or
conflicts. If this happens, feel free to skip forward to the sections on the A
& R procedure.
20
MECHANICS OF SELF MUSCLE TESTING
As stated above, the phenomenon of muscle testing occurs in every
muscle of the body, so it is only important to find a muscle which is
convenient and to which you can apply a consistent, measured pressure
in order to "challenge" it. For this reason there are many forms of self
muscle testing. One of the easiest to learn and most reliable is called the
O-ring test. Illustrations and instructions for this can be found in the table
below.
O-Ring Test
1. Make a circle with the thumb
and index finger of each
hand in the shape of an O.
2. Interlock these two O's and
hold them firmly closed.
3. Try to pull the two O's apart
and take note of the amount
of force needed to do this.
Do this several times until
you have a good sense of
how much force it takes to
break out. In self testing you
will want to use slightly less
force than it takes to break
out.
21
CALIBRATION EXERCISE 1
Once you have a good sense of how much pressure to apply, begin by
asking yourself (or your subject) simple questions to which you already
know the answer, then testing. For example make the statement "My
name is (correct name)" and test, "My name is (incorrect name)" and test.
You should notice that your fingers remain strong on the correct statement
and break apart on the incorrect statement. Try this a few times and keep
track of your results.
Many people initially experience trouble with
this first stage of calibration. They find that
“There are
they cannot discriminate the difference, or the
results are reversed (holding strong on the
parts of my
false statement and weak on the true one).
being that
Problems in discrimination can generally be
know how to
corrected by resolving limiting beliefs you hold
muscle test
about yourself or the process. Luckily at this
correctly”
stage you do not need to know specifically
what they are, only that you have them. If you
are experiencing problems with discrimination,
focus your attention on the problem and target
it with A & R. You may need to repeat this treatment until discrimination
becomes easier
If your muscle testing appears to be reversed (you consistently test strong
on false statements and weak on true statements) it indicates that your
system is currently under stress from toxins. You can temporarily treat
yourself for this effect by focusing your attention on eliminating this
problem and performing A & R (see the steps for A&R in later sections).
You may need to do this several times until the problem is corrected.
Check regularly to see if this problem returns. If it, does re-treat.
22
As you investigate this process, test yourself in many areas of your life in
which you already know the answer, such as:
Your address. "I live at 322 W. Acorn Dr." test, "I don't live at 322 W. Acorn Dr."
The State in which you live. "I live in New Jersey" test, "I don't live in New
Jersey"
The names of your children.
Anything else about which you already know the answer.
Keep track of your responses. Continue to check and treat as above until your
response rate is at or near 100%.
CALIBRATION EXERCISE 2
Now for the fun stuff. In order to be confident about your testing you now
need to begin testing yourself for things about which you do not know the
answer but which can be verified. This part of muscle testing can be hard
to learn and may require some perseverance. To begin this process take a
coin and toss it. Without looking at the coin, test whether it is heads or
tails. Do this by making statements and testing them: "the coin is a heads"
test, "the coin is a tails" test. Do these 10 times and write the results down
on a piece of paper. If your results were random you would have
approximately 5 correct and 5 incorrect tests. If you have dramatically
more or less correct you can begin to suspect some influence is being
reflected in your testing. Your testing will reflect either random results (4 to
6 correct), poor results (0 to 3 correct) or good results (7 to 10 correct).
This test can be repeated as often as you like in order to ensure the
results are reliable.
If the results you obtained were poor, remember that this is as unlikely as
getting good results. You are getting a reversed test about the results of
the coin flip. The reason for this is likely to be limiting beliefs you hold
about your ability to muscle test or the efficacy of muscle testing. The
same is true if your results appear random. There is a part of yourself
which is blocking a correct reading of the coin flip.
You can treat yourself for this with A & R: Muscle test yourself on the
following statements (and their opposites) in order to discover where the
blocks might lie.
23
Positive Statement
I am competent at self muscle
testing.
I am able to test for coin flips
reliably.
It is possible to know information
which is not in my conscious mind.
It is OK to know this information.
I can do this consistently and
reliably.
I will do this consistently and
reliably.
Negative Statement
I am not competent at self muscle
testing
I am not able to test for coin flips
reliably.
It is not possible to know information
which is not in my conscious mind.
It is not OK to know this information.
I cannot do this consistently and
reliably.
I will not do this consistently and
reliably.
Whenever you test weak on the positive statement and/or strong on the
negative treat yourself with A & R until you test strong on the positive
statement and weak on the negative. Do this for the entire list, then do the
coin flipping exercise again and write down your results. Look for change.
Did it get worse, better or remain the same? If your testing is still poor to
average, test the following statements:
Positive Statement
I want to muscle test accurately on
myself every time I test for anything.
I will be able to learn this technique.
I am smart enough to do this.
I deserve such elegant help.
Muscle testing does work.
This is an effective means of testing.
This is not too weird for me
Negative Statement
I do not want to muscle test accurately
on myself every time I test for anything.
I will never be able to learn this
technique.
I am not smart enough to do this.
I don't deserve such elegant help.
Muscle testing does not work.
This is not an effective means of testing.
This is just too weird for me.
Whenever you test weak on the positive statement and strong on the
negative treat yourself with A & R until you test strong on the positive
statement and weak on the negative. Do this for the entire list, then do the
coin flipping exercise again and write down your results. Look for change.
Typically your testing should have improved significantly by this time so
24
that you can reliably achieve 7 to 10 out of 10 correct. If not, there are
likely to be even deeper blocks for which you should enlist the aid of a
person who is trained in the A & R protocol.
If you are achieving 7 to 9 out of 10 correct in your muscle testing you can
continue to work to improve this over time. Do this coin flipping exercise
regularly and when you do not get a correct test treat yourself immediately
with A & R
You now know the accuracy of your testing for coin flips. If you reliably get
7 out of 10 then your reliability is 70%. This is pretty good. There are few
other projective tests which can even begin to approach such a number.
The trouble is that your accuracy in testing for coins may not reflect your
accuracy in testing for other information.
CALIBRATION EXERCISE 3
Muscle testing's greatest utility is in giving us information which is in our
mind but not conscious. The problem is that this information is often not
overtly confirmable. Our ability to derive this information with muscle
testing is generally better than for information which is not in our
awareness at all (such as coin toss results) but should still be calibrated
for. This exercise may take some inventiveness on your part. Let‘s begin
by muscle testing for, and treating, possible obvious blocks.
Positive Statement
I am competent at self muscle testing
for unconscious issues.
I am able to test for unconscious issues
reliably.
It is possible to know information
which is not in my conscious mind.
It is OK for me to know this
information.
I can do this consistently and reliably.
I will do this consistently and reliably.
Treat where necessary with A & R
25
Negative Statement
I am not competent at self muscle testing
for unconscious issues.
I am not able to test for unconscious
issues reliably.
It is not possible to know information
which is not in my conscious mind.
It is not OK for me to know this
information.
I cannot do this consistently and reliably.
I will not do this consistently and reliably.
Now find things which are in your unconscious but not in your conscious
mind and test about them. For example, "I left my keys in the living room",
"I didn't". "I left my keys in the bedroom", "I didn't". Or "I put the cheese on
the second shelf in the refrigerator", "I didn't". "I put the cheese on the
third shelf", "I didn't". You can then go and confirm this information easily.
If you are incorrect then focus on whatever might have caused the
incorrect testing (you do not need to know this consciously) and treat
yourself with A & R You will probably find that your testing is less accurate
for factual information like where you left your keys than for emotional
information like "I will feel happy when my wife comes home", "I will not".
MUSCLE TESTING SUMMARY
Becoming adept at muscle testing is a long term proposition. There will
probably be areas which appear to resist your ability to test. For example,
I reliably get 80 to 90% accuracy in testing for coin flips, close to 100% for
emotional information, but am average in testing for unconscious factual
information such as where my keys are. This is because I do not yet
believe that I can know this information. This is a limiting belief which I
have not yet completely corrected. Remember it is only you who are
limiting yourself; the limitations are not a function of the process.
I have been muscle testing people‘s affirmations which are struggling to
achieve, since 1990. It is almost universally true that when people are
repeating an affirmation for a goal their body tests weak on it. That is
because if they were congruent with the content of the statement, they
would already have it. They would not be asking for it. Therefore just
repeating and repeating their affirmations do nothing more than continually
weaken the arm. No wonder just repeating affirmations does not usually
work.
In Ask & Receive we are specifically contacting that part of our being that
is already in alignment with the affirmation and asking it to let the rest of
us bring that alignment into full awareness.
26
THE A & R PROCESS
Think of something you want: less pain, more money, relief from anxiety,
anger or sadness. Most of us are much more aware of what we don‘t want
than what we do. We don‘t want to be broke, we don‘t want pain, we don‘t
want fear or sadness. While we can ask for freedom from what we don‘t
want, healing is much more effective if we ask for what we do want –
clearly and specifically. In fact, specificity is tremendously important
because of how we have fragmented our ―self‖. The pain in your knee, the
anxiety in your belly, may have many different specific causes and so may
quire several A & R ―treatments‖ before they are fully healed. The good
news is that your conscious mind generally does not need to know what
beliefs or perceptions are causing the problem. Other parts of your being
already know what are causing it. We will discuss this in more detail later
but for now let‘s just try it.
Pre-test: Begin with a negative perception you can measure – a feeling of
anxiousness in your gut or a pain in your knee. Allow your awareness to
tune into it. If you are using muscle testing, test while the attention is on
the limitation. You should get a weak response because the thing you are
focusing on is non-congruent. If the limitation is a belief rather than a
feeling, make the statement: ―My body knows how to ___ with grace and
ease‖. Again, this test should be weak because if it knew how it would
have done so already. If you test strong, consider a different
conceptualization of the presenting problem. If it knows how to heal then
does that part not want to heal? Does it believe you don’t deserve to heal
Consider what could be maintaining the problem and test for it, then treat
those statements which give you a weak test.
You will notice that the pre/post test is very similar to the step one of Ask
& Receive. In the pre/post test we are seeing if the body knows how to
correct something. The body represents the information we currently have
access to. Step one contacts those parts of being that hold this previously
inaccessible information. Our goal is to bring that information from the
unconscious or subconscious into our bodies, into awareness and into
action.
27
Step 1: ―There are parts of my being that already know how to ____ with
grace and ease.‖
We are contacting those parts that already have the answer. It is the
crucial step of ―asking‖.
Step 2: Now make the statement ―Those parts of my being are willing to
inform the rest of me now.‖ Attend to the response. If you are comfortable
with muscle testing, test to see if you get a positive response. Otherwise
simply pay attention to your ―felt sense‖ of whether the statement feels
true or not.
Step 3: Make the statement ―My mind, body and spirit are receiving this
information.‖ And attend to the response. It is not enough just to ask, we
have to be willing to receive. As you gain experience with A&R you will be
surprised at how we limit what we will allow ourselves to receive due to
limiting beliefs about deserving.
If the response is positive, continue, if it is negative (weak) check again for
limiting beliefs as in the least step. Treat any limiting belief fully before
returning and checking again for a positive response.
Step 4: Make the statement ―Information transfer is now complete‖ and
attend to the response. Negative (weak) responses here indicate that the
healing will require more time to complete. It is possible for healing to
require minutes, hours, days or even weeks or months. If you choose you
can test for how long the healing will take to complete using muscle
testing. Simply state ―this healing will take more than 5 minutes to
complete‖, and test. If weak this indicates that the treatment will take less
than 5 minutes. If strong, test for larger amounts of time: 10 minutes, 1
hour, 1 day. You can also ask if there is something you can do to make it
go faster.
Once testing indicates that the healing is complete retest for what you
have requested (e.g. ―the sadness in my heart is healing now‖). You
should receive a positive (strong) response. If the response is negative
(weak) ask if a trauma or limiting belief is blocking this treatment. If there
28
is a trauma or limiting belief blocking this treatment, merely do Ask &
Receive for that trauma or limiting belief. (see page 31).
With practice this treatment gets easier and faster. The more you do this
the fewer limiting beliefs arise which need treatment (because they have
already been treated). Learning self muscle testing speeds this process
up even more and allows you to treat for virtually anything that comes to
mind.
It is a good thing that this process can be so rapid because the more we
do the more we discover needs treatment. Virtually anything is possible
with curiosity, ingenuity and persistence, but certain problems will likely
require considerable time and effort to resolve completely. For example,
this process is being used to help children with Autism with some of their
fundamental biological and neurological problems. Effecting the body at
this level is often complex and can‘t be done by simply asking ―There is
part of my being that know how to heal Autism‖. Instead, it is necessary to
find specific sensitivities, traumas, phobias and limiting beliefs. Once you
feel comfortable with the process of A&R, it is time to consider where to
look for answers to deep problems.
29
Ask & Receive MT Protocol

ASK & RECEIVE STATEMENT
PURPOSE OF STATEMENT
1. There are parts of my being
that already know how to
_____________________.
Contacting parts of my being that
knows the answer
2. Those parts of my being are
willing to inform the rest
of me now.
Ask the parts of being to help
3. My body, mind & spirit are
receiving this information.
Confirm willingness to receive
answer
4. Information transfer is
complete.
Confirm receiving information
BLOCKING TRAUMAS OR BELIEFS
If any of the 4 A&R statements result is a weak muscle test, state:
A. There is a Trauma blocking this treatment.
If strong, muscle test for age of trauma and treat using A&R
for no longer needing to be traumatized for this event.
B. There is a Limiting Belief blocking this treatment.
If strong, muscle test for
1. It is SAFE for me to ______________.
2. It is POSSIBLE for me to __________.
3. I DESERVE to __________________.
31
If any limiting belief is weak, treat using A&R. For example,
if the person is not congruent with ―it is safe for me to earn
more money‖ we need to Ask & Receive for ―There are parts
of my being that already know it is safe for me to earn more
money.‖ Continue through the rest of the statements and
then retest for safety.
WHEN A BELIEF IS BLOCKING TREATMENT
It is rare to get a negative response to the initial statement that a Part of
my being knows how to ______. There are always parts of
your being that know how to heal your relationship with what
Check
is. However it is possible to believe that your being doesn‘t
know, can‘t know, or doesn‘t deserve to know that simply
for what
asking is even possible. Because our beliefs determine our
belief is
perceptions, if we do get a negative response we need to
interfering.
check for what belief might be interfering. We check for the
truth of the beliefs in the same way we do the original
statements either with muscle testing or using felt sense.
State:
1.
2.
3.
―It is safe for me to heal ___.‖
―I deserve to heal ____.‖
―It is possible for my being to know ____.‖
If you discover that you have a limiting belief either about this technique or
about yourself in relation to healing, complete treatment on that belief first
before treating the original problem.
For example, if you were originally attempting to treat yourself for sadness
in your heart and you test weak to the statement ―there are parts of my
being that know how to release the sadness in my heart‖, test for limiting
beliefs. If you test weak when you make the statement ―I deserve to heal
the sadness in my heart‖, treat for that first. Treat for ―there are parts of my
being that know I deserve to heal the sadness in my heart‖. Continue
through the steps treating for deserving or safety first then go back and
treat for the sadness directly.
32
LIMITING BELIEF BLOCKING TREATMENT
If any of the Ask & Receive statements get a weak muscle test check
whether a limiting belief is blocking the treatment. The most common
limiting beliefs are; safety, deserving, possibility.
Muscle test for:
It is safe to be vibrantly healthy.
I deserve to be vibrantly healthy.
It is possible for me to be vibrantly healthy.
In this process, deeper unconscious themes are discovered and healed
easily & gently.
The Ask & Receive can continue throughout affirmations for all areas of
one‘s life. External, material or physical results occur as well as basic
attitudinal and unconscious changes. We hypothesize that repeated Ask
& Receive treatment results in one‘s ―perceptual‖ filters become more
allowing of new information. We can ―see‖ more of true reality. We can
grasp more complexity.
33
A & R Using Felt Sense
Do We Need Muscle Testing to do A&R? No we don’t.
Sandi and I like to make things easy. The problem is that everyone has a
different definition of what easy means to them. For Sandi and me it is
easy to use simple muscle testing techniques to act as a communication
vehicle between different parts of self. Since we see most problems
existing as a function of the fractured nature of the constructed self (parts
that we create through trauma or repeated learning), we use muscle
testing to find the part holding the limitation and connect it with the part of
being that is not fragmented and contains the solution. To us it seems
reasonable to simply ask the body through muscle testing ―My body knows
how to ___‖, and then ask ―There are parts of my being that know how to
___.‖ Doing this through muscle testing simplifies the communication but it
can also make it more complex.
Since muscle testing gives us a digital ―yes‖, ―no‖ response, it does force
the tester to become a bit of a detective. If we ask ―These parts of my
being are willing to inform the rest of me now‖ and get a ―no‖ response, we
have to investigate to find which traumas or beliefs are standing in the way
of completion. This investigatory process constitutes the art of A&R as we
learn to become ever better detectives of the unconscious. It is the use of
muscle testing itself which creates the need for this detective work.
Because we are limited to a digital response we are often forced to ask
more questions in order to fully unearth all of the elements affecting a
symptom.
For people who are uncomfortable with muscle testing, this process can
be frustrating. For them there are at least two other ways of effectively
doing A&R. These are Felt Sense or SUDS Level. Both of these other
approaches differ only in how information is gleaned from the Self. All
other elements of A&R remain unchanged.
Felt Sense
Over 30 years ago, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) discovered that
split off parts of self are really not unconscious in any absolute way, we
have just lost the means for communicating with them. Parts of self
communicate with us constantly; we just don‘t pay useful attention. Our
pain or negative symptoms are actually our self‘s way of attempting to
34
communicate with us. We just have to learn to listen in a different way, or
to ask the parts to communicate in a different way. For example, muscle
testing asks our self parts to communicate through weak or strong
responses. It is also possible to ask the body to communicate through
sensations to determine whether they are in alignment or non-alignment.
When using Felt Sense we ask the person to be aware of the sensations
in their body when they repeat their desired affirmations. Lets use Joe for
an example: Joe feels unappreciated by his wife and as though he doesn‘t
matter to her any more. While discussing this with Joe he relates that he
feels angry when she treats him in a certain way and that he would like to
get rid of the anger. Joe is asked to make the statement ―My body knows
how to feel at peace with my wife,‖ and then attend to whatever
sensations he may be aware of in his body. On reflection he says ―I hear a
voice in my head telling me that if I am no longer angry, then she will really
boss me around‖. The therapist hears this as a limiting belief so he shifts
to this issue and has Joe make the statement ―My body knows how to
stand up to my wife without anger,‖ and then attend to his inner reaction.
―I get a strong response of ‗no‘. When I try to stand up for myself without
anger she just ignores me.‖ If it is determined that Joe wants to be able to
stand up to his wife without anger, we can begin Ask & Receive. We
know he is in non-alignment with the statement since he gets a ―no‖
feeling. He might also have had a tightness in his stomach or chest or a
feeling of heat or cold or any number of reactions of constriction. We will
now do Ask & Receive and recheck his reaction to the statement after the
process.
―Good‖ says the therapist. Now say
―There are parts of my being that know how to stand up to my wife
without anger.‖
―Those parts of my being are willing to inform the rest of me now.‖
―My mind, body and spirit are receiving this information‖
―Information transfer is complete‖
35
Once Joe is ready for the post test: ―My body knows how to stand up to
my wife without anger,‖ he notices a big difference in his inner experience.
He reports feeling more confident and feeling excited.
Having completed this sequence, the therapist goes back to the original
statement: ―My body knows how to feel at peace with my wife.‖ This time
he replies ―It still feels like it doesn‘t know how, but I feel more like it would
be a good thing‖. On hearing this, the therapist then asks him to state:
―There are parts of my being that know how to release my anger at my
wife.‖ Focusing on his inner reaction to this Joe notices ―I feel a lump in
my throat.‖
Hearing this as another block, the therapist again shifts focus to the lump
in the throat. He has Joe say: ―my body knows how to heal this lump in my
throat and the issue it represents.‖ He then moves on to: ―There are
parts of my being that know how to heal this lump in my throat and the
issue it represents.‖
On completing the entire protocol for this issue Joe notices that the
feelings in his throat have vanished so the therapist returns to: ―My body
knows how to feel at peace with my wife.‖ This time he is able to complete
the protocol on this issue without anything else arising, and feels much
more optimism and confidence when thinking about his wife.
This is a simple example of using Felt Sense as a means of
communicating with self parts. Sometimes these parts communicate with
language, sometimes with images and sometimes with feelings. Because
of how we are put together, virtually any bodily sensation can be used as
part of the communication process.
For many of us this approach is more complicated than muscle testing but
it does have the advantage of offering more complex communication.
When they communicate with us directly, our self parts often ―tell‖ us what
the limitation is so that less detective work is needed. When approached
this way, the art of A&R is in helping the client to attend to his or her inner
process and then roll the sensation or awareness into the A&R process.
Because information is stored in our consciousness metaphorically
(pictures, sounds, feelings all have meanings assigned to them) we might
not know the meaning of the lump in Joe‘s throat, but we don‘t really need
36
to know. Instead we simply fold it into the process of A&R using the
person‘s Felt Sense as our barometer of change.
When addressing symptoms such as pain in the throat, anxiousness in the
stomach, dizziness, an unusual odor or visual experience, we assume that
it represents a communication. If it arises in the course of checking with
Felt Sense for objections to a statement of desired outcome, we ask ―there
is a part of my being that knows how to ___ and the issue it represents.‖
This added statement: ―and the issue it represents‖ is the only change in
wording of the A&R steps, and is required because of the greater
complexity of communication available when Felt Sense is employed.
It allows us to ask for and receive healing for issues we are not even
aware of. The person may become aware of a variety of sensations
during the Ask & Receive protocol. We assume these sensations
represent the changes being made. The sensations are again evaluated
at the Post test to determine what other areas need to be treated.
37
Ask & Receive Felt Sense Protocol
PRE TEST
a. “My body knows how to ___ (state what you want)” or
b. Notice a physical symptom or sensation.
Felt Sense: If positive or neutral, you are in congruence.
If you become aware of a feeling that the statement is untrue
or a novel sensation, do A&R Step 1 with this as the issue.
1. “There are parts of my being that already know how to ______
(and what it represents) with grace and ease.”
2. “Those parts of my being are willing to inform the rest of me
now.”
3.
“My mind, body and spirit are receiving this information.”
4.
“Information transfer is now complete.”
POST TEST
a. “My body knows how to ___ (state what you want)” or
b. Notice a physical symptom or sensation.
Felt Sense: If positive or neutral, treatment is complete.
If you become aware of a feeling that the statement is untrue
or a novel sensation, do A&R with this as the issue.
(Always include “and what it represents” when treating for a
body sensation.)
38
A & R Using Subjective Units of Distress Level (SUDS)
Just as Emotional Freedom Technique‘s (EFT) use of SUDS Level arose
out of Thought Field Therapy‘s (TFT) use of muscle testing as a diagnostic
procedure, the same can be done with A&R. We have the person rate
their congruence with a statement on a scale from 0 to 10 with 10 being
the most true. Using SUDS level is a way to identify the sensations similar
to using Felt Sense
Let‘s use Sue for an example:
Sue defined herself as depressed, which to her meant she had chronic
low level anxiety and worry. She wanted to be happy again as she had
been a year or so ago.
Asking for the big thing first, as we often do, Sue was asked to make the
statement ―My body knows how to be happy‖ and to rate her response on
a 10 point scale with 10 being it is absolutely true and 1 being it is utterly
untrue. On reflection Sue replied ―It really doesn‘t feel true, about a 2.‖
With this indication of incongruence with the desired goal, she was asked
to do Ask & Receive: ―There are parts of my being that know how to be
happy‖. This time she reports feeling better but still not optimistic, ―that‘s
about a 6, I don‘t think it is really possible for me to be happy‖.
Shifting to this issue she is asked to make the statement ―There are parts
of my being that know it is possible for me to be happy.‖ Here she replied,
―that feels good like an 8 or 9‖. The rest of the A&R sequence was then
successfully performed for that issue.
Sue was then asked to make the original statement again: ―There are
parts of my being that know how to be happy‖, and to rate the statement
again. This time she reports feeling much more positive, with a SUDS of 8
or 9. The therapist could have continued to work on this issue until Sue
experienced a 10 response but generally a response of 8 or better is
sufficient to continue, so she was assisted in completing the A&R protocol
for this issue. On post test when she was asked to repeat the statement
and rate how true it felt, she reported that it felt ―much better, maybe a 7 or
8.‖
39
Not being satisfied with this however, she was asked to make the
statement: ―There is a part of my being that knows how to be completely
happy‖. Now Sue noticed a feeling of warmth and optimism and
responded that this felt like a 10. After completion of the A&R protocol Sue
was again asked to perform the post test: My body knows how to be
happy‖. This time she reported feeling very positive and feeling like it was
a 9 or a 10.
SUDS and Felt Sense are both similar approaches to A&R because they
rely on the client‘s intuitive sense of personal congruity or alignment. Just
as there are therapists and clients who are uncomfortable with muscle
testing, there are clients and therapists who are uncomfortable with SUDS
and Felt Sense. Many of us are not aware of our inner experience.
Negative life events and social training have left many of us with little
ability to notice subtle bodily experience and we have learned to
misperceive what experience we are aware of.
If we insist on seeing pain or sensation as something to be medicated we
block our body‘s attempt to communicate. As with negative emotions and
limiting beliefs, we see our bodies attempt to communicate as symptoms
to be managed. This management is another form of intentional
dissociation, walling off discomfort in a way which forces us to carry the
discomfort forward into our future.
As we work with A&R, we receive the benefits of the treatments but we
also begin to see our bodies and the constructed self in a way that puts
our Selves on the same side rather than as parts working against other
parts to repress or distract.
Whether to begin using A&R with muscle testing, Felt Sense or SUDS is
up to you and what you feel most comfortable with. We hope that as you
use it though you will become confident with all three modes. Mixing and
matching your testing mode brings the greatest freedom to find and relieve
problems and invite your heart‘s desire.
40
Ask & Receive SUDS Protocol
PRE TEST
a. “My body knows how to ___ (state what you want)” or
b. Notice a physical symptom or sensation.
SUDS: a. Ask the subject to rate how true the statement seems on a
10 point scale. b. Ask the subject to rate the symptom severity on a
10 point scale. 10 represents the worst the symptom has ever been
and 1 represents that it is not noticeable.
SUDS: a: if the SUDS value is 8 to 10 the treatment is complete. If
it is still less than an 8, repeat.
b. If the SUDS for the physical symptom has dropped to a 1 or
2 the treatment is complete. If it is still greater than a 2, repeat.
If you become aware of a novel sensation, rate it with SUDS
and do A&R with this as the issue.
(Always include “and what it represents” when treating for a
body sensation.)
41
CLINICAL USES OF ASK & RECEIVE
While merely repeating the statements in the Ask & Receive process can
be effective, the true art and elegance of Ask & Receive is evidenced
through the use of muscle testing, Felt Sense and SUDS. These three
modes of testing allow for rapid, gentle unfolding of deeper and deeper
levels of limiting beliefs and traumas that are blocking development.
Muscle testing allows one to quickly flow through numerous statements
quickly checking alignment. Felt Sense and SUDS allow us to access our
body‘s inner wisdom about that alignment. If we are not in resonance with
a desired goal, we are much less likely to be able to achieve it. Once
resonant with a goal or wanted belief (strong muscle test), we are more
likely to gravitate to behaviors that support that goal.
COMMON BELIEFS TO CHECK
The following are common belief statements that need to be congruent for
the treatment to be successful. It is useful to check our treatments using
each of the beliefs to be sure that the person is congruent to all possible
aspects of the problem. In this way we ―Surround the Dragon.‖ This is
less necessary when using Felt Sense, but can still be useful especially
when symptoms don‘t seem to be shifting.
It is safe for me to ________.
I deserve to _________.
It is possible for me to ____________.
It is safe for others for me to ________.
I am a good person if I _____________.
It is a benefit to myself ____________.
42
It is a benefit to others ____________.
I give myself permission to _________.
I keep my identify ________________.
Others support me _______________.
WHEN A TRAUMA IS BLOCKING TREATMENT
It is also possible that a trauma is blocking the treatment. To assess this,
merely state ―there is a trauma blocking this treatment‖. If strong, muscle
test to discover the age at the time of the trauma. Following a discussion,
the person can usually identify a situation that may be sabotaging them.
Now do Ask & Receive to heal that trauma.
TRAUMA BLOCKING TREATMENT
If a trauma is blocking the treatment, it needs to be cleared prior to
working on the original statement. This procedure is used when any of the
Ask & Receive statements have a weak muscle test. You simply have the
person say:
― A trauma is blocking this treatment.‖ If muscle test gives a yes response
you will then muscle test to identify the age of the trauma. You can then
ask for specific time periods such as:
Conception

Birth to 10

20 - 30, etc.
When a time period is identified, muscle test for the specific year. Then
discuss what was going on during that time period. It is usually easy to
identify a specific trauma that corresponded with that time period. I am
constantly amazed with how relevant these traumas are to the issue being
treated. My hypothesis is that this trauma sets up a specific pattern of
43
responding to the future situations in one‘s life. For example, a trauma
might have provoked fear that later inhibits a person‘s willingness to take
risks. That trauma needs to be defused in order to allow the person to
move forward in her life.
Perhaps the person had the cord around her neck or was stuck in the birth
canal. If so, aliveness might be associated with trauma & could be
frightening to the person.
Once the trauma is identified, then discover the resulting emotion from
that trauma. We then do Ask & Receive to release the person from the
stuck emotions of that time period.
ASK & RECEIVE TREATMENT FOR TRAUMA
For example, you might use one of the following for the pre-test
affirmation.
Pre-test Examples:
I no longer need to be traumatized as I was when __________.
I am OK with ___________. I no longer need to be terrorized as I was
when ___________.
If these statements are weak, do Ask & Receive.
Step 1: There are parts of my being that know how to no longer be
traumatized (sad, angry, afraid) like I was when _________________.
Step 2: Make the statement ―Those parts of my being are willing to do so
now.‖ And attend to the response. If it is positive, continue, if it is negative
(weak) check again for limiting beliefs as in the last step. Treat any limiting
belief fully before returning and checking again for a positive response.
44
Step 3: Make the statement ―My mind, body and spirit are receiving this
information.‖ And attend to the response. It is not enough just to ask, we
have to be willing to receive. As you gain experience with A&R you will be
surprised at how we limit what we will allow ourselves to receive due to
limiting beliefs about deserving.
If the response is positive, continue, if it is negative (weak) check again for
limiting beliefs as in the last step. Treat any limiting belief fully before
returning and checking again for a positive response.
Step 4: Make the statement ―Information transfer is now complete.‖ And
attend to the response. Negative (weak) responses here indicate that the
healing will require more time to complete. It is possible for healing to
require minutes, hours, days or even weeks or months. If you choose you
can test for how long the healing will take to complete using muscle
testing. Simply state ―this healing will take more than 5 minutes to
complete‖, and test. If weak this indicates that the treatment will take less
than 5 minutes. If strong, test for larger amounts of time: 10 minutes, 1
hour, 1 day.
Post-test: Repeat initial statement
The primary post-test is to repeat the initial pre-test affirmation.
You can then Surround the Dragon by adding belief statements to be sure
the problem is fully treated. Again, if any of the statements are weak, treat
with A&R.
We have
to be
willing
to
receive
.
Example of Surround the Dragon – muscle test the following
statements:
It is safe for me to no longer be traumatized.
It is possible for me to no longer be traumatized.
I deserve to no longer be traumatized.
45
I keep my identity even if I am no longer traumatized.
It is safe for others for me to no longer be traumatized.
It is a benefit to me to no longer be traumatized. Etc.
The more
we do the
more we
discover
needs
treatment.
Once testing indicates that the healing is complete retest for
what you have requested (e.g. ―the sadness in my heart is
healing now‖).
You should receive a positive (strong)
response. If the response is negative (weak) re-treat until you
receive a strong (positive) response.
With practice this treatment gets easier and faster. The more
you do this the fewer limiting beliefs arise which need
treatment (because they have already been treated). Learning
self muscle testing speeds this process up even more and
allows you to treat for virtually anything that comes to mind.
Effecting the body at
this level is often complex and can‘t be done by simply asking ―There is
part of my being that knows how to heal autism‖. Instead, it is necessary
to find specific sensitivities, traumas, phobias and limiting beliefs. Once
you feel comfortable with the process of A&R, it is time to consider where
to look for answers to deep problems.
46
USING A&R TO TREAT PHYSICAL ISSUES
Physical issues are always primary when addressing any condition, even
those which appear psychological. Our bodies are the primary filter
between us and our environment. For example autoimmune problems are
always an expression of a misperception by the body. The body perceives
a threat where one shouldn‘t exist and either overreacts, attacking itself, or
under reacts and fails to protect the body‘s health. The body can perceive
anything as a threat, even water or the body itself. The result is a battle
between different parts of the body which can become disease. We think
of this battle as existing between ourselves and the environment. I used to
feel attacked every spring when the pollen count was high and my
allergies flared. The environment though is relatively neutral; it is our
body‘s response to it that causes the greatest trouble.
Just as psychological problems typically have biological bases, the
reverse is also true. The dysfunction which causes conflict at the physical
level within the body has its mirror on the neurological and psychological
levels. In essence our entire system responds at every level to a
dysfunctional relationship to our environment. This is good news because
there is so much evidence of our fundamental dysfunction. We can find it
by checking for allergies or sensitivities on the part of the body. We can
find it by noticing what environmental or psychological triggers seem to
disrupt our sense of happiness or focus. We just have to know how to start
asking.
Allergies are all about fear. The immune system is trying to protect you
but it becomes overzealous in its reaction. An allergy is a mistake of the
immune system caused by trauma.
In the same way, we act on limiting beliefs that are caused by these
traumas. Trauma creates filters that affect our view of the world. All new
sensory input comes through these filters, and these sensory filters distort
our perception.
Allergies are produced by trauma even if genetics set the stage. Dr.
Francis S. Collins, Director, National Institute of Health states that ―All
47
illnesses have some hereditary contribution. Genetics loads the gun and
the environment pulls the trigger.‖
Trauma causes the immune system to create smaller holes in the filters in
order to reject more and more substances out of a fear reaction. Trauma
triggers the body to react defensively to substances that had been
previously associated with danger, upset, fear or other crisis. However,
those substances were only suffering ―guilt by association‖ while there is
nothing inherently dangerous about them.
There are many effective allergy/sensitivity treatments that have already
been developed. Sandi Radomski is an expert in using these techniques,
and offers treatment and training as well as instruction manuals for those
who wish a more complete understanding than is possible here.
Most allergy treatment is based on muscle testing as a means of finding
substances that are congruent or incongruent with the body‘s energy
system. Typically this is done while the patient is holding a piece of the
substance, vial of the substance or at least thinking about the substance
to be treated. Where these therapies differ is in the technique of treatment
in which the limitation is resolved. Most of these techniques involve
clearing disruptions on the body‘s energy meridians in a variety of ways.
A&R simplifies this process by isolating the offending substance in ways
similar to older techniques, but then simply asking ―there are parts of my
being that know how to heal my allergy to ___ with grace and ease (step
1).‖ In our experience it is rare to get a negative response to this
statement. Then simply completing the A&R process can have the effect
of resolving that specific sensitivity. Of course there can be many different
sensitivities and it is often useful to move through a whole protocol to find
and heal as many as possible. Again if occasionally the A&R statement
remains weak, check for traumas or limiting beliefs.

Manual, 2004 by Sandi Radomski. ( http://www.allergyantidotes.com)
48
Another way to find and treat allergies is by what they are communicating.
Any imbalance that we hold communicates itself through us. This is a
more systemic way of thinking about health in general in which we ask
ourselves the question ―what must I believe for this to be true of me. ―
Everything in your life, either good or bad is largely a product of your
perceptual filters. We don‘t see this in ourselves but we often see it in
others, because our own filters are largely invisible to us.
The form that follows is designed to help isolate the feelings and beliefs
which may be driving your symptoms. It helps to focus your attention
away from the symptom as something discreet and external, and toward
what it might be expressing about your beliefs about yourself and the
world around you. It is often these beliefs that need to be healed before a
full resolution of symptoms can occur.
49
LEARNING THE LESSON OF YOUR SYMPTOMS
Identify what beliefs you must have in order to have your symptoms or
problems.
1)
Problem: Thing you want/don‘t want in your life:
I don‘t want my Asthma
______________________________________.
2)
List consequences of having/not having thing in your life. Make
sure to list both feelings and beliefs.
Hard to breathe in.
Fear and anxiety about the future.
3)
For each feeling/belief in step 2, make a global statement
(identity/spiritual) that makes sense of and contains this
feeling/belief.
I have trouble receiving.
I am limited.
I am afraid of the future.
50
WHAT TO ASK FOR
This preceding system for learning the lesson of your symptoms also
gives us a clue for what to treat for emotional issues also.
You are looking at your life and asking ―what must I believe to have
created this?‖ For example, if you are having financial difficulties, we look
at what beliefs would support that situation. Perhaps, you don‘t believe
you deserve money, it is not safe to have money, you will be unloved or
not spiritual if you have money or you will not have any time for fun if you
have money. The list is endless and specific to each individual.
As you complete the worksheet you will discover that you must have all
sorts of conflicting and even crazy beliefs such as ―I need to sacrifice for
others to be ok‖. If this happens to you don‘t criticize yourself. We each
have many different parts of self which often hold strange and conflicting
beliefs. If you find one you might be curious to think what in my life led me
to hold this belief? Consider if it is even your belief or if you ―inherited‖ it
from family members. Once you have considered all
this let it go with A&R. ―There are parts of my being that
know how to release my belief that___ with grace and
What must
ease…‖
I believe
for this to
be true of
me?
If you have a physical problem or a life event as a focus
you will have feedback about your success in healing
as the issue resolves itself. This can be almost
instantaneous or can happen slowly as you resolve its
components piece by piece.
OUR LIMITING BELIEFS RUN OUR LIVES
Our early biological insults cause us to develop filters that affect our
sensory perception.
51
The damage done from trauma influences our self concept and sense of
self. The limiting beliefs hidden behind this objectification become
embedded within our sense of self, influencing our developing neurology
and resulting in selective perception. This selective perception results in
our perceiving confirming responses and ignoring conflicting responses,
which serves to further reinforce the limiting beliefs. For example, if I think
I am unattractive I am likely to pay more attention to
people who comment negatively on my dress or my looks,
while I discount or simply don‘t hear people who comment
Our
positively.
Limiting
Beliefs
All of us hold hosts of these limiting beliefs. With our focus

invisible to us. We no longer even recognize these beliefs
as our own, but instead we act in ways to either fight
against the belief or confirm it. The problem is that neither
fighting nor confirming does
anything toward eliminating the belief. This is
an area where A&R can be very useful.

have created these outcomes.‖ ― What are
you resonating with that have attracted you to
these life circumstances?‖
If you become aware of a limiting belief that you hold, A&R can be used to
treat it quickly and easily. If you find yourself occasionally saying ―I am
such an idiot‖ or ―I look hideous‖ then consider that you have at least a
part of yourself that holds the belief. Don‘t argue with it, treat it. Check:
―there are parts of my being that know how to heal my belief that I am an
idiot‖. Or, ―there are parts of my being that know that I am attractive to
others‖.
52
We hold many limiting beliefs, even contradictory ones like ―I am helpless‖
and ―I am responsible for what other people do.‖ As we begin to use A&R
to treat these beliefs our perspectives begin to change and we begin to
notice that our environment no longer confirms our limiting beliefs in the
way it once did. Our energy begins to rise and we notice ourselves being
different. This rising awareness is another function of A&R, allowing us to
achieve larger, more complex perspectives on ourselves and the world
around us. As we let go of our limiting beliefs and the fears associated
with them we are free to evolve.
53
USING A&R TO TREAT NEUROLOGICAL ISSUES
Our neurology is invisible to us as well as to everyone else. When I see
blue am I seeing the same thing you are? Because our neurology is
invisible we naturally assume that ours is the same as everyone else‘s.
This leads to no end of trouble and miscommunication. Our neurology is
our window on the world and as our neurology changes our world appears
to change. As we discussed in the earlier section, what we experience is
perhaps the best indicator of what filters we are using to view the world.
These filters typically take the form of limiting beliefs about ourselves
and/or the universe in general.
Another more fundamental aspect of our neurology affects even our
perception. For example people who recover from depression often find
that the world becomes brighter and their bodies lighter. People with
autism often experience certain sounds, textures or sights to be greatly
amplified or dimmed when compared to non-autistic people. People with
trauma often experience a heightened alertness to threat or an inability to
calm down. Anxiety, depression, rage and other emotional disorders can
usefully be seen as neurological/perceptual ―settings‖ problems.
As we discussed in the previous section on physical issues, trauma
causes a change in the filtering of sensory input. This change in filtering
of data input then creates a more rigid perceptual system Author of The
Female Brain, Luann Bizendive, MD neuropsychiatrist at the University of
California, San Francisco, states that ―at least half of your personality
comes from your gene pool. Life experiences shape the other half. If you
acquire some idea about yourself – that idea will have impact on your
brain circuitry and get built into how you think about yourself. Our human
brains love to categorize and label – the pretty one, the smart one, the
problem child. Then you grow accustomed to the label and often re-create
that identity because it feels familiar.‖ In this way, we begin to rigidly see
the world in relation to our limiting beliefs. We only ―see‖ things that
confirm our beliefs.
Someone who has been bitten by a dog may perceive all dogs as having
bigger teeth, a more ferocious bark and appear closer and larger. Trauma
54
has molded our perceptions of the world. What we are looking for is a way
to reset the perceptual filters to a more appropriate level.
When deciding to treat for these ―settings‖ issues it is important to keep in
mind that they exist at a middle level of generality in the self system. They
are more complex than allergies or sensitivities but generally less complex
than (though they may reflect) limiting beliefs. Therefore it is often
necessary to treat these issues with some persistence. For example if
after some treatment the world seems brighter, or you feel calmer, notice
how long this change lasts then ask yourself the question ―Have things
shifted back or have I gotten used to the new level of experiencing?‖ If it
feels as though your perception has shifted back and you know the trigger,
treat yourself for that. If you can‘t find a trigger which causes you to
relapse just treat for the original issue until you notice a positive shift
again.
55
USING A&R TO TREAT PSYCHOLOGICAL ISSUES.
As you read this manual you may notice that when you are treating
allergies or pain you might be treating neurological settings or
psychological beliefs. When you are treating neurological settings you
may be treating either allergies or psychological beliefs. The same is true
when treating psychological issues—you may also be treating biological
effects or neurological settings. Problems are held holographically within
the body. Non-congruity is held at all levels of our being but expressed
metaphorically through specific symptoms at the different levels.
By psychological issues, we don‘t mean treating personality. Personality
doesn‘t exist. But what does exist are limiting beliefs, dissociation and
trauma. In fact, these three terms all apply to the same phenomenon. We
splinter our self in order to make sense of our world and block out fear and
negative thoughts and emotions. By the time we are adults we have
created a cosmos of parts which we have stored carefully so that we are
not constantly troubled by our ideas of limitation. This process which is
called dissociation is constantly breaking down triggering negative
thoughts and feelings, but we continue to try. This activity takes enormous
amounts of time and energy but most of us don‘t know what else to do.
Trauma and dissociation are treatable once we understand what to do:
We need to bring healing to limiting belief/negative feeling which is being
dissociated. You know what I am talking about. Think about loosing your
money and feel the pang in your gut. That is where you store your fear of
loss of money or power. Think about the last time you fought with a loved
one and feel the heaviness in your heart. That is where you store
whatever limiting belief and negative feeling you have about your loved
one. We are all full of them and they live in our bodies and minds. We
spend our lives trying to avoid triggering them and we constantly fail.
When we fail we blame ourselves, the other person or the situation for our
reaction, blaming externals only makes us helpless to truly heal ourselves
since the limitation lives within us.
―There are parts of my being that know how to heal the sadness in my
heart‖, ―There are parts of my being that know how to heal the fear I feel in
my stomach when I drive over a bridge.‖ Find the limitation and ask for
healing. Then notice if it all goes away or if there is some left. If you find
more ask for that to be healed. Ask, ask, ask and receive.
56
Ask, ask,
ask and
receive.
As you free yourself from the fragmentation of self you
will experience a return of your vital energy and a natural
expansion of your perception and understanding. People
will think that your personality is changing. Since we now
know that personality does not exist, what is happening?
As you resolve dissociation and trauma your ego begins expanding,
developing an ever increasing ability to comprehend complexity and
making the hero‘s journey from duality to unity. As discussed below, the
ego is not a personality. It is a window on experience which involves all of
your biology, neurology and psychology.
57
POSTITIVE BELIEFS THAT ENCOURAGE FREEDOM
The following Positive Beliefs are Basic concepts that could be guiding our lives.
If we are not in congruence, alignment with these statements, a limiting belief is
restricting your life and your development.
I AM SAFE.
I AM PROTECTED.
THE WORLD IS SAFE.
MY TRUE BEING IS INDESTRUCTIBLE AND CANNOT BE HARMED.
IT IS SAFE TO FEEL MY FEELINGS.
I AM LOVEABLE.
I AM WANTED.
I AM ENOUGH.
IT IS SAFE FOR ME TO FEEL JOY.
IT IS SAFE FOR ME TO FORGIVE.
I DESERVE TO LIVE.
I DESERVE TO PROSPER.
I DESERVE TO SHINE.

USES OF ASK & RECEIVE
We have used Ask & Receive for a variety of physical and emotional
issues.
Physical

Emotional
Neck Pain
Sensitivity to sound
Fears
Knee Pain
Sensitivity to tactile sensation
Fear of bugs
Headaches
Emotional Regulation
Anxiety
Sinus Infections
Visual Perception Regulation

Allergies to Foods
Anger
Allergies to Animals
Grief
Ask & Receive can be used to attain goals in many areas of our life. One
way to proceed is to identify what we want in each of the following
categories:
59
POSITIVE DESIRES
1. Health
_____________________________________________________
2. Relationships
_____________________________________________________
3. Family
_____________________________________________________
4. Finances
_____________________________________________________
5. Work/ Career
_____________________________________________________
6. Recreation /
Relaxation____________________________________________
7. Spiritual
_____________________________________________________
Once a person identifies his or her desires in each of these areas, Ask &
Receive can be used to create resonance with it. Muscle testing will give
us access to any traumas or limiting beliefs that are blocking alignment.
These traumas or limiting beliefs should be treated with Ask & Receive
before attempting to treat the original affirmation.
60
ASK & RECEIVE FOR VIBRANT HEALTH
For example, a person’s goal may be to have vibrant health.
Muscle test – I have vibrant health
If weak, you will continue with Ask & Receive treatment.
If strong, person is already congruent. You may then be more
specific
1. There are parts of my being that know how to have
vibrant health.
2. Those parts of my being are willing to inform the rest
of me now.
3. My body, mind & spirit are receiving this information.
4. Information transfer is now complete.
Re-test – I have vibrant health
It should now be strong
If any of the Ask & Receive statements are weak, check for a trauma
or limiting belief that is blocking treatment.
61
Finding a Resourse
What do you want? The more comfortable you become with A&R, the
more you will begin to appreciate the importance of choosing what you
want, and that the possible choices you can make are rich and endless.
When we begin using the process we are generally asking to release
trauma or resolve limiting beliefs. In this case we are really asking for a
negative. We don‘t want the trauma or the belief. We assume that we will
have what we want when that limitation is removed.
It doesn‘t take long before we realize that the more we ask for the more
we get, so we begin to ask for desired outcomes, e.g. ―My boy knows how
to sleep through the night‖. As we begin to do this we find that the more
specific we are, the better the outcome. Statements like ―My body knows
how to sleep through the night‖ has to be tweaked to ―My body knows how
to regularly sleep through the night‖, or ―My body knows how to sleep
through the night even when I have to work in the morning.” The
clearer we are the more successful we become. Eventually we start to
discover that when we are not finding success with A& R it is almost
always because we are not specific enough with our requests, or because
there are other things we want which we believe to be in opposition to the
request. For example, for some people sleeping through the night may be
in opposition to wanting to feel safe. In that case, the need for safety will
typically trump sleeping.
As a result of the complexity of our fractured self, it is easy to despair of
ever transforming some of our more indelible qualities. When this
happens to you (as it does with all of us) it means that we have to get
even better at asking for what we want. We need to tell the body ―Instead
of reacting this way, react that way‖.
John spent months recovering from the discovery of an affair his wife had
almost a year previously. Using A&R, he would work on the traumas and
the beliefs but it seemed that he kept finding more and more triggers
connected to the affair. Finally in session he said he wished that he could
just feel differently about the affair. He was aware that when he thought
about his wife going out with her girl friends it didn‘t bother him but when
he though about her out with the other man he would become physically
sick. He know that the affair had ended but he would still be brought low
62
several times a day with just a passing thought. We decided to ask for
what he wanted and did an Ask & Receive for ―My body knows how to
respond to my wife‘s affair in the same way as it does when I think of her
going out with her girl friends.‖ For John it was that easy. As soon as he
completed the A&R process the sick feeling vanished. Simply asking for
his system to react to another way (one the body already knew) allowed it
to shift. Previously his system simply could not imagine another way to
respond to thoughts of his wife‘s infidelity, but when given another way it
was easy.
Readers who are trained in Neuro-Linguistic Programming might
recognize this as a Swish Pattern. In NLP, the body is trained to shift it‘s
response from a less resourceful one to a more resourceful one by
changing how it is presented in the mind, someone grieving the loss of a
loved one is trained to represent thoughts of the loved one in the same
way as thoughts of someone who is no longer around but for whom his is
not grieving. This powerful but complex process can be greatly simplified
with A& R. With A&R we simply ask.
If you crave chocolate but don‘t crave broccoli, ask the body to have the
same relationship to chocolate as it does with broccoli. You are asking for
something the body already knows how to do and feels safe doing in
certain contexts. You are only asking it to add a context. If you can‘t sleep
in hotels, ask the body to sleep in hotels the same way it does when at
home in its own bed. If you get anxious speaking in front of people, then
ask the body to feel the same way it does when speaking with your good
friends.
This might seem far too simple for many people because we all believe
that we respond the way we do for good reasons. We explain our
reactions to ourselves and to each other so they seem natural but they
aren‘t. Everyone responds differently to every situation, sometimes a little
differently, sometimes a lot. Because our experiences are based on our
belief systems, they are all essentially illusion. Rather than defending our
reactions, we can now choose reactions that are more adaptive. We can
choose love over fear or calm over anger. If our bodies already know how
to respond adaptively in one context it can do so in another. This doesn‘t
mean that the old way of responding or the new way of responding is true
63
or more correct, only that it feels better. Since all of this is based in
illusion, why not swap illusion.
Steps for Response Exchange
1) Identify a context in which a negative feeling, thought, or behavior
occurs.
2) Identify the context in which a more adaptive response already
occurs.
3) Do the A&R process directing that the body respond in the original
context with the alternate response.
After you do this, imagine a future time in which you are engaging in the
original context. Have the feelings shifted? Imagine several future
experiences. Are there any where you feel less resourceful? If so, do this
process for that specific context and then check for other contexts.
What we are doing with this process is exchanging whole patterns of
responses so that we can choose those that serve us and unload those
that don‘t. Try not to get too caught up in defending or protecting your
limiting responses. Yes they might be normal, but unless they are adaptive
and pleasurable why hold on to them? The old adage is do you want to be
right or do you want to be happy Of course you want to make sure that a
response is not adaptive before you let it go. You don‘t want to be calm or
trusting around a rapist or murderer, but at the same time you don‘t want
to be quaking in fear when you are safe at home.
To get you started here are some ways to use this process:
1) Ask the body to respond to an allergic substance in the same way
as a non-allergic one.
2) Ask the body to respond to the thought of a certain negative person
or situation in the same way as a neutral one.
3) Ask the body to respond to certain addictive foods or substances in
the same way as non-addictive ones.
64
GOD IS ALL THERE IS. EVERYTHING ELSE IS PERCEPTUAL ERROR.
So if we are not our personalities who are we?
In fact, we are both more and less than most
of us know. When we think of ourselves at all
we think in terms of our psychology or our
beliefs about ourselves. When we look in the
mirror we notice if we look good or bad, we
worry about what others think of us or how we
are compared to our peers. This takes most of
our attention. After psychology, we attend to
our neurology, whether we are smart, or
happy or anxious. Often this blends closely
with psychology but it feels more objective,
less something that we can choose. Most
people‘s understanding of depression is at this
level: a physical basis but also shaped
through life experience and perception. After
neurology, we consider our biology. Most of us
really don‘t think much about our biology
unless we are sick or disabled. For most of us
our biological nature is invisible behind our
psychology and neurology. Most of us accept
that we are biological organisms but really
don‘t consider what this means unless we
experience some loss of physical function.
If our biology is hard to see, our spirit is
invisible. Some people ―believe‖ that they
have a Spirit but virtually none of us consider
themselves as spirit. As such spirit is
completely hidden behind the other three
layers, leaving most rational, scientific people
to reject the concept entirely.

Perception is dependent on the filtering out of 90% of
stimuli.
Filtering and organizing stimuli allows us to attach
meaning to it.
No two people have the same perceptions but
because we don’t know another’s perspective we assume
it to be the same as ours.
Most problems exist either as a problem of filtering,
organizing, or associating meaning.
Spirit is what we are but it takes physical form through the body‘s
biological mechanisms. More than just our cells, nerves, bones and
organs, our biological nature is who we are. Our biology largely
determines our perceptual and motor mechanisms, our level of energy,
our basic emotional states and our basic relationship to the environment.
These biological components are then assembled and integrated through
66
our neurology in order to derive meaning and function within our perceived
environment. Our neurology is responsible for refining the functions of our
biology and more fully defining the boundaries between ourselves and our
environment. It is in our neurology that we also begin to make further
subdivisions between parts of self. This process of subdivision is often
related to physical and emotional trauma, social learning and perceptual
distortion. The parts of self which are thus constructed become the
building blocks of our psychology.
Psychology is the least reliable of the
building blocks of self. It is composed of
the filtering of spirit through our biology
and neurology. What is left is prone to
error and filters out at least 90 percent of
all perceptual information. What gives
psychology form is our awareness or
attention which allows us to selectively
attend to aspects within our environment
as well as in our larger self. The fact that
much of our daily experience is triggered
by our environment or the result of habit is
lost on our attention which builds an idea
of a singular self despite all the evidence
to the contrary.
Self as Psychology




This is where problems
appear to exist because of
problems of perception.
The “Self” is a perceptual
mistake arising from an
over identification with
attention and the body.
“Personality” can’t be
changed at this level
because the most problems
exist at lower levels.
Most of what we perceive
as personality is only a
function of attention and
habit.
Because we are built to look outside of ourselves rather than within, and to
prioritize psychology over the other building blocks of self, we perceive
personality everywhere. From other people, to animals to cars and
computers, we perceive personality as the driving force behind behavior. If
my car breaks down I believe it did so on purpose. If your child
misbehaves I believe it is because he is rude or bad. If you do poorly on a
test I think you must be stupid. Psychology and personality become ways
of objectifying both ourselves and others.
67
EGO DEVELOPMENT
The Ego as it is understood in A&R is a spiritual / biological / neurological /
psychological construct. It represents the perspective of consciousness
assumed by an individual. There are many different theories of ego
development, often reducing it to stages of gradually increasing
complexity. As such, Ego is not synonymous with personality and is not a
direct reflection of intelligence, experience or spirituality. We like to think of
ego in functional terms. It is our window on experience and as such it
affects all of who we are. As people develop typically they become more
effective, less controlled by external forces and happier. Much of what
psychologists define as psychological disorders actually have to do with
problems in ego development in which a person (usually as a result of
trauma) becomes fixated at one of the earlier stages. This fixation can
cause devastating problems for the individual as well as for those who
care for them.
In A&R we consider shifts in ego development as the result of treating
traumas and limiting beliefs to be an important intended side effect. It is
only through developing the ego into the higher stages that A&R becomes
fully comprehensible.
We won‘t spend a great deal of time discussing ego development here,
but a cursory understanding can be very helpful to understanding how and
why we perceive the worlds we do. If you wish more information on ego
development, please consult the references at the end of this book.
68
SOME FACTS ABOUT EGO DEVELOPMENT
Everyone needs to find some way to understand the world around them.
In general this understanding begins simply and then gradually becomes
more and more complex. These different egoic perspectives are not real
in an ultimate sense but each has a functional reality because they define
our perception.
We say they are not real because they each offer only a small window on
reality. They are also not real because each of us have the capacity of
perceiving from lower or higher perspectives at any time through a change
in perception. The fact that most of us maintain a relatively fixed egoic
perspective is not due to ability but to attention, habit and limiting beliefs.
We will now discuss in general terms how arising ego development effects
our perceptions and experience of reality.
69
STAGES OF EGO DEVELOPMENT
STAGE ONE
The first stage of ego is ―No Self‖. Think of a new born infant who is still
unaware of figure and ground. It has no attention because it is in
experience. There is yet no perceiver. It is engaged in relationship with its
environment. It has sense perceptions but is unable to intend action or
thought. It has no attention but a rudimentary awareness and sensing.
While most of us move quickly through this stage and retain little memory
of it, many people with autism become fixated here and some have later
gone on to describe this experience. They describe it as a wonderful free
experience of interconnection and boundarylessness.
70
STAGE 2
Most infants quickly shift from here to the 2nd stage, that of All Self. All Self
begins with the emergence of the perceiver. Instead of being in
experience with no separation between self and other, perception begins
with this separation. Figure and ground, in and out come into being.
Attention begins with the abilty to selectively focus awareness.
Identification with the body begins.
The All Self stage is marked with recognition of duality. Good/bad,
hot/cold, etc. In this stage there are no shades of gray, no continuums. A
child in this stage either loves something or hates it. It is called All Self
because the child is not able to perceive anything other than self.
Thoughts, objects, and people are all self referential. In other words a
person is good if he does something the child likes and bad if he does
something the child dislikes. People, chairs and toys are owned and
valued depending on their perceived function or utility not because they
exist apriori.
Early in this stage language is unnecessary because the child can‘t grasp
the purpose of communicating since no one else exists. The children don‘t
feel responsible for their negative reactions because they don‘t
understand that others can have feelings. Because they are at such a
simplistic perspective, they are forced to try to understand all social
behavior as a complex of rules that seem to exist for no greater purpose.
The beginning of this stage is marked by people with autism and those
nearing the end of it by people with personality disorders. Normal children
typically move through this stage between 6 mos. to 3 years.
STAGE 3
The 3rd stage is marked by the gradual development of a concept of other
and the eventual ability to maintain a simultaneous sense of self and other
(often called 1st and 2nd person awareness). This ability to hold a sense of
self and other in awareness simultaneously allows for the arising of
compassion, and relationship which is not available in the lower stages.
No longer needing lists of rules to understand social convention, these
children can intuit correct social behavior in a dynamic fashion. Most
children have attained this stage by the time they start school, however
many on the autism spectrum (including ADHD and ADD) remain in stage
2 well into school.
71
STAGE 4
The discovery of other allows for the arising of relationship. Stage 4 is
marked by the ability to observe one‘s own behavior and make changes.
This awareness is also called ―Witness position‖ or 3 rd person awareness.
This ability to observe self is critical to emerging rational thought and
planning.
STAGE 5
Stage 5 is reached once the person is able to apply this 3 rd person
awareness across time into the past and future. This allows for functional
learning and planning. It is the highest conventional stage and the goal of
most contemporary societies.
STAGE 6
Stage 6 begins when the person starts to see the limitations of the stage 5
logic. In stage 5 the world is still extremely mechanistic with firm assumed
boundaries between the observer and the observed. Stage 6 is marked by
more relativistic understandings, that the observer has an influence on the
observed. This is a dynamic stage with a shift from a completely external
focus to a more internal one. It is in this stage and beyond that A&R
begins to make sense as the person learns to shift from external control to
internal understanding.
STAGE 7
Stage 7 is marked by the emergence of the Nth perspective. This is a nonego based perspective or understanding. The person becomes capable of
observing his or her own construct and discriminating his or her own ego.
At this stage boundaries between all things begin to break down as the
person understands that the sense of self is essentially arbitrary. The
dualistic nature which is so obvious in the earlier stages slide into
continuums and even continuums of continuums as all things become
relative. People at this stage are very free from the struggles of the earlier
stages, focusing largely on helping the planet and healing themselves of
left over trauma and limitations from their transition through the earlier
stages.
72
STAGE 8
Stage 8 is the Unitive stage in which the person is able to return to the
experience of being in reality without ego. This stage is also called
enlightenment in some traditions. The person is ego informed but no
longer controlled by egoic perceptions. In many ways it is a return to the
expression of being encountered in stage 1 but now it is informed by the
other perspectives, becoming a means to great personal freedom.
The importance of these stages to A&R is two fold. First, the stages allow
us to see how the level of a person‘s ego development informs their
biology, neurology and psychology to produce the life experience they
receive. Second it allows us to better understand where A&R fits in the
general evolution of self. The purpose of A&R is to help with both of these
areas. The action of using A&R has the effect of improving communication
between different parts, forcing us to realize that our being is much larger
and more powerful than we ever thought, that our ego is illusory and pain
producing, and that by treating traumas and limiting beliefs, our ties to
earlier stages is loosened. We are freed to move forward in our
development.

USING ASK & RECEIVE WITH OTHER ENERGY PSYCHOLOGY
TECHNIQUES
Ask & Receive grew out of Tom and Sandi‘s many years of experience
with various Energy Psychology techniques. We use Ask & Receive
primarily as a stand alone technique. However, the steps of Ask &
Receive can also be combined with other Energy Psychology protocols.
For those of you unfamiliar with Energy Psychology, you can go to the
web site for the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology
www.energypsych.org/ for more information.
ASK & RECEIVE WITH EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE (EFT)
The following protocol was developed by Ellen Fisher, C.Ht, CMT. It uses
the steps and statements of Ask & Receive along with tapping on the
acupuncture points used in EFT. Many people enjoy the additional
physical input into the process.
If you are unfamiliar with EFT, go to Gary Craig‘s website
www.emofree.com for more information
74
ASK
& RECEIVE WITH EFT
1. (Tap side of hand, karate chop point, and say phrase 3 times)
There is a part of my being that knows how to ________.
2. (Tap inside of eyebrow points, 2 hands)
That part knows how to do this with ease & grace.
3. (Tap side of eyes points, 2 hands)
That part is willing to communicate this to the rest of me
right now, in the most gentle and loving way.
4. (Tap under eyes point, 2 hands)
My body, mind and spirit are receiving this information
now.
5. (Tap under nose point)
Visualize affirmation.
6. (Tap under chin point)
Visualize affirmation.
7. (Tap collarbone point, 2 hands)
Transfer of information is now complete, or soon will be.
8. (Tap thymus point, one or two hands)
And so I offer heartfelt thanks.
9. Continue tapping thymus point and say initial affirmation, 3 times.

ASK & RECEIVE WITH LASER EAR SPRAY
Laser treatment can support the Ask and Receive treatment.
Sandi Radomski uses Laser Ear Spray as a major treatment protocol in
her Allergy Antidotes system. The cold laser used is at the frequency of
635 NM and less than 5 milliwatts. It is a cold laser and is considered
LLLT (Low Level Laser Therapy). The laser is at the frequency of a
healthy living cell. It makes the cells on the surface of the skin vibrate as
a healthy living cell. By resonance, the next cell and the next cell begin to
vibrate like a healthy cell. The laser is used primarily on the ear reflex
points which refer all of the other points in the body.
When we first test the person for their desired goal they usually have a
weak muscle test. In other words they are not in congruence with the
statement.
Have person repeat the Ask & Receive steps when lasering all points front
and back on both ears. All the acupuncture points in the body will now be
in resonance with the desired goal.
For more information on Allergy Antidotes and Laser Ear Spray go to
www.allergyantidotes.com.
ASK & RECEIVE WITH TAPAS ACUPUNCTURE TECHNIQUE (TAT)
Tapas Acupuncture Technique is an amazing technique developed by
Tapas Fleming. A person holds several points on their face and back of
their head while they repeat specific phrases. If you are not familiar with
TAT, go to www.TATlife.com for more information
It is simple to use the TAT hand positions while repeating the Ask &
Receive statements. It is another way to balance the body in relation to
the desired goal.
76
ASK & RECEIVE AND ENERGY CHORDS
Energy Chords was developed by Pat Carrington, PhD and Sandi
Radomski, ND, LCSW. It evolved from working with EFT. In classic EFT,
a person taps on various acupuncture points in sequence. John Diepold,
PhD, created Touch and Breathe which includes merely touching and
breathing at each EFT acupuncture point. Carrington and I then realized
that we could then touch and breathe at 2 or more points at one time. We
experimented with using different acupuncture end points of Meridians.
We determined that holding the 3rd eye point and center of chin points are
the most effective. These two points can be held while focusing on the
problem issue. We are balancing the body in relation to the statements
being focused on. Hold these points while repeating the Ask & Receive
statements.
ASK & RECEIVE AND SPINAL RELEASE
Spinal Release is another technique developed by Sandi Radomski in her
Allergy Antidotes system. In Spinal Release the practitioner taps gently
with the client‘s spine from C7 – bump at bottom of neck to just below the
shoulder blades. You are tapping on the bladder meridian. Each point on
the bladder meridian is associated with the other meridians of the body.
Therefore, again we are balancing the body in relation to the statement
being repeated.
Tap on either side of spine for each of the Ask & Receive statements.
77
ASK & RECEIVE IN GROUPS
Ask & Receive has generally been used in individual treatment. We have
also found it to be tremendously useful in groups. The power of everyone
in a group doing the process together seems to enhance its effectiveness.
Each person can work on their individual goal while a person is being
treated as a demonstrator. Also the entire group may focus on the same
issue and do Ask & Receive in unison. Also a surrogate for someone
either within or outside the group.
Group Treatment:
a. Work on individual issues while A&R being done with demonstrator
patient (borrowing benefits)
b. Group all together with same issue
c. Group all together as surrogate for another or out of group
ASK AND RECEIVE ON BEHALF OF OTHERS
We have found that Ask & Receive is very effective when done on behalf
of others be they children, adults or animals. Parents of the Autistic
children are using the Ask and Receive process for their children who are
clearly not aware what is happening. One of my colleagues has been
using Ask & Receive extensively for couples work where one partner
treats on behalf of the other for everyone‘s highest good. She has also
used Ask & Receive to surrogately treat for a friends‘ sister with ulcerative
colitis. After this long distance treatment, the person no longer had any
colitis symptoms even though she never knew what was being done on
her behalf.
Animals have also been treated with Ask & Receive successfully. A cat
had a tumor develop on its neck. Following Ask & Receive for the bump,
the cat went for a nap. After the nap, all signs of the bump were gone.
78
SUPPORTING RESEARCH
The following are various studies that support our Ask & Receive
techniques. Since Ask & Receive uses muscle testing extensively, it is
important to see it as a valid tool to gather information. Secondly we have
documentation of the effectiveness of prayer since Ask & Receive can be
considered structural prayer. Thirdly brain research documents our
contention that early trauma changes the development of the brain which
in turn changes perception.
MUSCLE TEST RESEARCH
Dr. Daniel Monti, M.D. conducted a study to show the validity of muscle
testing. As reported in Perceptual and Motor Skills Monti muscle tested
college students on true and false statements. He found that the people
tested could withstand 17% more force for 58% longer period of time with
true statements. The significance of the research is that the students
were not tested by a practitioner. The strength of their anterior dynometer.
Therefore there was no way that the tester could press with inconsistent
strength. Clearly this machine evaluated muscle testing was consistently
able to distinguish true from false statements
RESEARCH ON EFFECTIVENESS OF PRAYER
There have been numerous studies on the effectiveness of prayer. Since
Ask & Receive can be conceived of as structured prayer, this accumulated
research is highly relevant. One of the most quoted scientific studies of
prayer was done between August 1982 and May of 1983. 393 patients at
the San Francisco General Hospital Coronary Care Unit were randomly
selected to receive or not receive intercessory prayer. The patients who
received prayer as a part of the study were healthier than those who had
not. The prayed for group had less need of having cardiopulmonary
resuscitation and less need for mechanical ventilators. They had
diminished need for diurectics, and antibodies and fewer deaths.
79
These types of positive results from prayer can even be seen in
experiments with bacteria and other microorganisms. Prayers to inhibit
growth of yeast, molds, and bacteria are highly effective.
These studies also show that prayer is non-local and that it functions at a
distance. These research findings document our findings that Ask &
Receive is effective for both face to face interaction and also on behalf of
another even at a distance.
RESEARCH ON TRAUMA CHANGING ONE’S BRAIN
Research on brain development has shown that trauma changes the
brain. These changes are consistent with our hypothesis presented in this
manual. Bruce D. Perry, MD, PhD, states that ―the brain is designed to
change in response to patterned, repetitive stimulation and the stimulation
associated with fear and trauma changes the brain…‖ The early trauma
causes an increase in white matter in the brain. This abnormal increase in
white matter then effects the processing of new sensory input. The
trauma experiences ―in childhood has relatively more impact on the
developing child‘s life seem to cause more of a deviation from normal than
if the trauma occurred later.
The majority of brain organization takes place during early childhood. In
fact by 3 years of age the brain has reached 90% of adult size while the
body is still only 18% of adult size.
The experiences of the child shape the development, personality and
behavior of the adult. Perry concludes that ―children reflect the world in
which they are raised. If that world is characterized by threat, chaos,
unpredictability, fear & trauma, the brain will reflect that by altering the
development of the neural system involved in the stress and fear
response.‖
These traumatized children will also reflect limiting beliefs about
themselves and the world which are consistent with their experiences.
Those parts of the brain that have been affected by trauma, need to be
treated for the return to normal development.

CONCLUDING THOUGHTS
Sandi and I feel excited, grateful and inspired by your interest in Ask and
Receive. There will always be people who will look at this process and
decide that it is not rational, overly simplistic and mumbo jumbo. In fact,
not so many years ago Sandi and I would have been among them. No one
sets out to be thought ―alternative‖ but if like us you care about your
clients, about yourself and about change you won‘t let a little thing like that
stop you. This doesn‘t mean that we want you to let go of rationality, we
just want you to decide for yourself. These techniques and concepts are
easily testable in yourself and those around you. Try it on something, but
try it with respect for the latent power within you. Don‘t start by treating
your sexual abuse or your auto accident or war trauma. Start small until
you develop comfort and confidence in the process and your body
acclimatizes to the process. We have not seen any negative
consequences from using A&R but that doesn‘t mean there aren‘t any yet
to be discovered. We have tried to design in a safeguard by asking that
each healing be done with ―grace and ease‖, but be respectful and careful.
We only wish good things for you!
Please feel free to contact us with thoughts, suggestions or testimonials at
our website at: http://www.allergyantidotes.com.
The name Ask & Receive grew out of our realization that this process
resembled the biblical quote ‖Whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing,
ye shall receive‖. Matthew 21:22. Many other quotes from the bible
instruct us to merely ask for what we want. In the Sermon on the Mount,
Jesus says ―Ask and it will be given you, seek and you will find and knock
and it will be opened to you. ― ―If you do not have, you do not ask‖ James
4:2.
Ask & Receive offers you an easy, concise, structured way to ask for what
you want clearly and directly. We have found that the main problem with
Ask & Receive is that we do not ask for enough. For Example, one
person who was tortured with insomnia, asked for being able to sleep 5
hours a night. Once achieved, he wondered why he had not asked for 7
hours of sleep a night. Another person asked to reduce pain in her
shoulder when in fact she really wanted to eliminate the pain entirely,
again, Ask & Receive is a simple, yet profound process. It is a simple,
81
easy fast way to reset the perceptual filters or our limiting beliefs that keep
us stuck in lower developmental levels.
Limiting beliefs are created from trauma in a similar way that allergies are
created. The body is protecting us but is using misguided information.
The truth of our wholeness, oneness and love is pushed away in the face
of trauma, fear and perceived danger to the organism. The body then
lives in alert mode, ever cognizant of the negative substance or statement,
criticism, or feared danger lurking. People with allergies can smell odors
that no one else can because of their over-vigilance. In turn, people with
limiting beliefs hear criticism, danger, harassment, rejection more than
others. In both instances, the body is finely tuned to guard for the invasion
of substances or insult. The reactions are fear based and keep people
stuck emotionally, physically and developmentally.
Ask & Receive is so simple and easy often people are not aware that it
rapidly removes limiting beliefs that have cut off your full perception of the
world. As the limiting beliefs melt away, we are free to move forward
developmentally to higher states of more joy, contentment and grace.

APPENDIX A
PRE TEST
a. “My body knows how to ___ (state what you want)” or
b. Touch place of problem
Test :
1.
If strong, you are in congruence with statement.
If weak, do A&R Step 1.
“There are parts of my being that already know how to ____ with
grace and ease.”
Test: If strong, go to 2.
If weak, investigate blocking trauma or beliefs.
2.
“Those parts of my being are willing to inform the rest of me now.”
Test: If strong, go to 3.
If weak, investigate blocking trauma or beliefs.
3.
“My mind, body and spirit are receiving this information.”
Test: If strong, go to 4.
If weak, investigate blocking trauma or beliefs.
4.
“Information transfer is now complete.”
Test:
If strong, go to Post-Test.
If weak, investigate time to completion.
If weak, check for traumas or limiting beliefs.
POST TEST
a. “My body knows how to (state what you want).”
or
b. Touch the place of the problem.
Test: If strong, you are complete.
If weak, investigate blocking trauma or beliefs.
83
HOW TO IDENTIFY WHAT YOU NEED TO ASK FOR:
State affirmation and muscle test.
If Strong, you are already in congruence with statement.
If weak, you are not in resonance with your desire and can proceed
to do A&R.
Muscle test each A&R statement (#1-4).
They should be strong.
If weak, check for blocking traumas or beliefs.
Muscle test:
a. There is a trauma blocking this treatment
b. There is a limiting belief blocking this treatment.
TRAUMA BLOCKING TREATMENT
If there is a trauma blocking the treatment:
Use Muscle testing to identify the trauma
Use Ask & Receive for trauma
ie.
“ I no longer need to be traumatized (sad, angry,
grieved, guilty etc.) like I was when ______ happened.”
LIMITING BELIEF BLOCKING TREATMENT
If there is a limiting belief blocking treatment use muscle test to
identify the limiting belief. We have found that the most common
limiting beliefs are:
Safety
Possibility
Deserving
Muscle test:
It is safe for me to (heal this problem).
It is possible for me to (heal this problem).
I deserve to (heal this problem).
Use Ask & Receive to treat the above weak statements.
Once strong, return to finish the original Ask & Receive.
84
APPENDIX B
ALTERNATIVE SCRIPT FOR ASK & RECEIVE
As we have been working with Ask & Receive we have used several different
versions of the script. As each of you practice with the technique you may find
that certain wording hums more for you or for your clients. Here are a few of the
versions we have used for your experimentation.
Original protocol- Parts of my being:
“There are parts of my being that know how to _____ with grace and ease.”
― Those parts of my being are willing to inform the rest of me now.‖
― My mind, body and spirit are receiving this information.‖
― Information transfer is complete.‖
A part of my being:
We often interchange parts of my being with ―there is a part of my being‖. Some
people respond better to one or the other.
“There is a part of my being that know how to ______ with grace and ease.”
― That part of my being is will to inform the rest of me now.‖
― My mind, body and spirit are receiving this information.‖
― Information transfer is complete.‖
A part of being:
We have also conceptualized that there is a part of the larger being that we are
all a part of that has the answers for us.
“There is a part of being that knows how to _______ with grace and ease.”
― That part of being is willing to inform the rest of me now.‖
― My mind, body and spirit are receiving this information.‖
― Information transfer is complete.‖
85
cont…..
It (they) are doing so now:
Pat Carrington added this step to ensure that the action step of sending the
information is actually taking place.
― There are (is) parts (part) of our being that know how to ____ with grace and
ease.‖
― Those (that) parts (part) or my being is willing to inform the rest of me now.‖
“They (it) are (is) doing so now.”
― My mind, body and spirit are receiving this information.‖
― Information transfer is complete.‖
Thank you for this healing:
We sometimes add this at the end of the script. Many people love this statement
and always want to include it.
― There are (is a) parts (part) of my being that knows how to ______ with grace
and ease.‖
― Those (that) parts (part) are (is) willing to inform the rest of me now.‖
― My mind, body and spirit are receiving this information.‖
― Information transfer is complete.‖
“Thank you for this healing.”

APPENDIX C
TESTIMONIALS
SURPRISING TESTIMONIAL FROM AUTISTIC TEEN
We received a fascinating testimonial of the power of Ask and Receive
from a very unlikely source. We have been using this treatment for Autism
often teaching the parents to treat on behalf of the child. One of our
patients 12 years old was very verbal and able to be muscle tested.
However, be was complaining and wanting to leave the session. As soon
as we did on Ask and Receive his entire demeanor changed. He
suddenly became highly interested and attentive. He started asking his
own question to be answered with the muscle test. I had no idea why he
responded the way he did. We were working on ―My body knows how to
not snack at night.‖ He continued to ask questions for the next two hours.
He explained this change by saying that the Ask & Receive process had
allowed ideas to go from the back of his brain to the forefront. He said
that before the puzzle had too big of a hole in it. He did not know where to
put his thoughts.
This patient described being able to contact the part of his being that was able to
comprehend, remember & make sense of his world. His mother was astonished
hearing him speak about old hurts, trauma and current concerns. She had never
heard him be this insightful, focused and intelligible. He continued to have this
reaction after Ask & Receive in other sessions.
87
THROAT CANCER SURVIVOR
Dear Sandi,
I’ve never written a testimonial before not even sure of the spelling.
Four months ago I was diagnosed with stage three neck cancer which
started on my tonsils. I prepared for the worst. I wasn’t afraid but
wasn’t optimistic.
The first doctor I saw said I would need seven weeks of radiation
concurrent with three heavy doses of chemo. The second doctor at
closer inspection said it was more advanced and I would need an
additional three heavy doses of chemo at 21 day intervals before
starting the normal protocol and that I had only a 50% cure rate as
things stood and a lot of nasty side affects some permanent if I
survived.
I left the office like a dead man walking. A lot of friends and family
members began coming around with all sorts of advice. Herb
remedies wheatgrass emanas, volcanic water, baking soda and maple
syrup. I tried a bunch. One friend from Philly said “I have a friend
who knows this woman that can cure you through EFT and magnetic
responses or something. I was not convinced but this friend said he
believed if his wife, who died of cancer recently had seen this woman
she would still be alive. They were talking about the strong emotional
component in cancer course and cure.
I totally got that because in examining my situation I realized that
something inside me had developed a pretty negative outlook over the
last few years and I also had some other issues over twenty years ago
that I still couldn’t find a way to let go of. I made an appointment to
see this woman but she was way down in South Jersey and the whole
trip with the session would have taken something like seven hours
there and back and I didn’t feel I had the energy.
We got in touch to talk with her about it and she said she could do the
whole thing over the phone. “Really”! I found it surprising. We kept
the same appointment time but now everything was going to be over
88
the phone. Some of her technique I understood requires physical
evaluation as well as actual body work but she said she could
somehow do this from her office. This would be interesting. I called
and the session began. From the beginning I was in tears in fact I just
tear up remembering that feeling. The details are a bit murky now but
it had to do with me making statements and her somehow measuring
inner alignment of belief in what I was saying. Something like “I
don’t feel guilty about surviving the death of my dearest friend.” She
would say that is weak try it again. At this point I would burst into
tears and when I could control my sobbing I would try again repeating
the statement. She would say it was still weak and I would cry some
more with her encouragement to forgive myself or something and at
some point she would say now it’s strong. I don’t know what she was
doing at her end but she always seemed to know and my crying would
come down and subside.
This process went on right through the hour appointment into a
second hour. It got very intimate in the sense that I began to strip bare
emotionally and Sandi was right there comforting and encouraging as
more and more stuff poured out. We had to stop several times when I
couldn’t speak through the tears. Then she would say “now you’re
strong on that and we’d move on.
Toward the end of the second hour things started coming down. She
said “you have been choked up about these things for years and you
can release and let them go” and I noticed that all the discomfort and
stiffness in my neck was gone. The emotional component of my
illness was being healed. It felt very fresh and newborn, a cliché but
true. I felt we both felt we’d really been through something it was
deep & intimate I really opened myself and she opened no barriers on
either side.
I called Sandi a couple of days ago to say that after five weeks of what
was supposed to be a preliminary treatment of chemo and some on
drugs I was cancer free. Everybody was very surprised. The doctors
are looking at my throat saying things like “amazing” with big smiles
on their faces.

When I was told my P.T. scan showed no cancer anywhere in the
body I began calling people and right after immediate friends and
family I thought of Sandi and when I had contacted for two and a half
months ago.
After our session Sandi said “This is interesting” What I said, “I don’t
know if I should say this “ I said “go ahead” “well I am getting some
indicators that your cancer will be gone in two weeks”, I took a little
longer than two weeks but even so!
I spoke with my cancer guide, the one who does research and protocol
with treatment and doctors, after we got the results of my cancer
negative P.T. scan and I talked about Sandi and the emotional side of
cancer treatment. My doctors have been great such caring and
supportive people.
But I want to acknowledge the importance of emotional therapy in the
treatment of cancer, it’s the other side of the equation.
It’s so important also in why people’s cancer sometimes comes back
and kills them. That may have a lot to do with underlying unresolved
emotional issue.
In closing I just want to thank Sandi, again and again for her
compassion and insight in working with me.
I can’t recommend her enough to anyone facing cancer or illness
because there truly is a mind body connection to these things.
Thank you again Sandi,
With much love and gratitude
Danny

Hi Maggie, Rehana and Sandi,
Here‘s a follow-up on my session with Sandi right at the last minute on
Tuesday afternoon. We worked on the pain in my stomach that has been
pretty constant for a long time, a burning sensation, and it changed and
moved about but didn‘t go away. I realized the next day would you believe
that it had gone and when I thought back I realized it had been gone from
about an hour after we left the Conference Centre. It reappeared once or
twice during the next day in a very modified way but other than that it has
gone. I am THRILLED as you can imagine! Thank you very, very much
Sandi!! Hope you can send this out so that that very warm and caring
group can see that it did work – it just needed a bit of time to filter through.

Dear Sandi,
I‘m the one you treated for allergy to water at Geelong Conference
Centre. Even though I was feeling good about being at the conference, I
was obviously pretty tired as within 10 minutes of you treating me I had
the most amazing surge of energy like a gerbra (a bright coloured proud
daisy-like flower - which I love) transforming from a weak soggystemmed, sad, faded & wilting lonely flower in a vase of stale water to a
strong-stemmed proud, happy & colourful specimen in bright light. I felt so
strong in myself, I did not have need for my walking stick for the rest of the
day.
I resorted to my walking stick the next day, but the free strong feeling
lasted for a week. Commitments & the pain of arthritis has depleted my
energy a bit, but I must admit, my deep joy has remained & will continue.
I am amazed at the number of people who have told me I look so well &
fresh - no matter how tired I might be. I can only put it down to your
complete healing of that water allergy & the resultant freedom of
spirit. Thanks again so much Sandi.
