In the Florida Keys, there are a lot of 6-toed cats, because of
Ernest Hemingway’s cat.
Hemingway was first given a six-toed cat by a ship’s captain
and became one of the more famous lovers of polydactyl cats.
Upon his death in 1961, his former home in Key West, Florida,
became a museum and a home for his cats, and it currently
houses approximately fifty descendants of his cats (about half
of which are polydactyl). The ―Hemingway Kitty Cat‖, or simply ―Hemingway Cat‖, is a term which has come to describe
polydactyls.

February is going to be a BUSY
month for the Saints and Sinners of
the Kingdom!
Join us on Sunday, February 8th, from 4- 6PM, for an "All You Can Eat Spaghetti and Meatball Dinner"! This year's dinner will be at the Pilgrim
Church Hall on Rampart Blvd. It includes: all you can eat spaghetti, meatballs, salad, garlic bread, beverage and home made desserts for $7.50! All
proceeds will go to Relay for Life. Contact Jan Walters at 941-661-5677 or
[email protected] for advance tickets.
On February 21st we will once again be hosting our HUGE Yard Sale at Wilson Realty on 41, just north of Harbourview Rd. Last year we had over 21
tables of gently used treasures for sale! Once again all proceeds go to Relay for Life!
Did you know proceeds raised through our Relay for Life fund raisers stay
right here in Charlotte County and benefit those in need through the
American Cancer Society? Monies are used to transport patients to and
from treatment, to house families and patients at Hope House while at
Tampa's Moffitt Center for treatment, to purchase wigs for Chemo patients, to help post-mastectomy patients feel and look beautiful again thru
various classes, and much, much more on an individual basis. Recently
we learned of a local young woman battling a life threatening rare cancer
and her only hope of treatment was at Houston's MD Anderson Center;
monies from Relay paid for her plane tickets to fly back and forth! So
your generous help and donations directly affect your neighbors and
friends right here at home!
Relay for Life is a wonderful opportunity to come together in support of
those battling cancer, those who are survivors, those who are caregivers,
and in memory of those who have lost the battle. Join our team, support
our fund raisers, give an hour, give a dollar....Together We Can Make A Difference! And.....if you are cleaning out that liquor cabinet and have any
post-holiday unopened bottles you would like to donate we are presently
"stuffing" our basket for the March Booze 4 Youze Raffle!
For more information please contact Jan Walters at the above number/
email or Dawn Amidon at [email protected]
