Maden Eco were delighted to be asked to install 4kw of domestic solar by Mr &
Mrs Bennett the owners of this impressive conversion with contemporary new
build addition near Coldingham in the Scottish Borders.
The installation comprises of 16 Axitec 250 watt polycrystalline PV panels
secured in the correct manor, this involves removing a small number of slates
and securing the PV brackets to the roof and then slating back in so that there
is the correct cover over the slates. The DC cable is then extended using
armoured DC cable back to the inverter position which in this case was located
neatly under the staircase next to the incoming electric supply.
The inverter chosen was by SMA and was a transformerless model which is
silent and has no running noise.

Maden Eco were invited to survey this cottage near Coldingham in the Scottish
Borders for solar PV. The roof is a very traditional old Scottish slate and our
attention to detail in securing the slate brackets onto the roof structure and
slating the brackets in meant that this install would be watertight for many
years. If you are contemplating solar PV please make sure your installer
removes slates to secure brackets and then slates them back in, drilling
through slates is a cheap way of carrying out an install.
The PV system here was on German rail kit and used a German SMA inverter.
We always fully scaffold our projects to ensure the workforce are protected and
also to allow them to make the best installation on your roof.
We called back to see the customer after the installation and they were pleased
with the work of our team and were happy to recommend us to others.
The installation was completed in August 2011.

Domestic installation of 4kw using 16 Q-Cells Q.Pro-G3 250w panels and an
SMA Sunny Boy Inverter,
The roof is a South facing 25 Degrees pitch roof and is predicted to generate
around 3,300kWh per annum. Although looking at our previous installations
they appear to be generating more than their predicted yield.
The installation took place in June 2014 and was recommended by an install
which took place just a few houses away.
The roof brackets being for concrete tiles are discretely integrated with the roof
and are secured to the roof structure and the original tiles replaced over the
brackets.
The system went very smoothly and Maden Eco are privileged to install
domestic and commercial systems around the local area.

This was the first Domestic PV installation that Maden Eco carried out in
October 2010. We at that time were installing Yingli PV panels (sponsors of the
last world cup) and using clickfit rail kit and SMA inverters.
We visited the system a year later and were pleased to see that we had
generated just under 4000kwh way ahead of the 3400kwh that we reported to
the client.
The installation is at Hume in the Scottish Borders, and it is encouraging that
through good installation including attention to the string arrangements and
cable sizes as well as good quality equipment we have this over productive
system.
This system is again on slate and as such we ensure secure fastening to the
roof structure by removing the slate and attaching onto the trusses through the
sarking. The slates are then reinstated as can be seen in the pictures across.

Domestic installation of 4kw using REC solar high efficiency panel on an
installation in the scottish borders at Reston.
The roof is facing south west.
The client was looking for a true black panel and the REC solar 250 was a good
productive choice for the job.
The installation took place in June 2011 under our PV roofs brand.
The client has been very pleased with the earnings potential of the system.

This pv system installed in the border village of Swinton was part of a
renovation of an annex to the clients main property. The specification was
a high quality SMA 3kw inverter with 12No 250watt German Qcell pro G2
panels. The unique hot spot protection in Qcell panels ensure a very low
instance of cell failure and the guaranteed 5% positive tolerance ensures
a good yield. The rail system was our German K2 rail which comes with
a 15 year manufacturers warranty.
Care was taken at install and the existing slates around each bracket
location were removed and the slate brackets fixed to the roof structure
and then slated back in. If anybody offers you a system on your slate roof
please ensure that they
, we see it a lot where for
speed unscrupulous installers go straight through the roof and parge up
with silicone, this is bad practice.
This system last year produced just under 1000kwh per kw installed.
