AGA's 2014-2015 National President William D. Miller, CGFM, CPA
—B.S. in Business Administration Southeast Missouri State University;
and M.S. in Government-Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville
Bill established performance audit organizations in 3 levels of government serving as Regional Director Kansas City Office of Veterans Affairs
Inspector General; Performance Audit Director, State of Missouri State
Auditor’s Office, and County Auditor, Johnson County Kansas. Audits resulted in millions of dollars of savings, returns, and crime prevention. Bill
started his career with the U.S. Army Audit Agency, moved to U.S. Department of Energy Office of Enforcement as Regional Director, Kansas City, and finished his
federal career with the Office of Inspector General, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
Bill has received numerous awards for his performance and recognition by AGA through several
of their high level awards.
Bill has uncovered, documented and engineered criminal investigation against perpetrators
against the government. He has served 47 years in the field of auditing as well as AGA.
Bill’s audits have brought better performance by organizations and restitutions when warranted, all in favor of the tax payer.
Bill has a passion for good government and viewed his audits from the eyes of the taxpayer in a
“what would you do if you knew” perspective.
Bill has served in the St. Louis Chapter, Northern Virginia Chapter and Kansas City Chapter. He
held many chapter chairs and presidency. He also, served as Regional Vice-President of the Midwest Region, Senior Vice President Regional Services Section II, and National President-Elect.

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
by Ami Patel
Hello Mid-Missouri Chapter,
Welcome to a new and exciting year, filled with new opportunities and
challenges! I would like to thank our new board for their support, and as
daunting as it may seem, we will all work together to make this a great year
with AGA!
I would like to say a big THANK YOU and congratulations to Robin Burkhart.
As our immediate past Communications Director, she has done a wonderful
job and won the national award for Group B (membership
size) for the chapter newsletter. I am thrilled that she has
been recognized by her peers for her outstanding work. She
has also graciously accepted to continue with the
responsibilities of that position until we find a new
Communications Director.
Robin has also worked hard to get our “new and improved” website up and
running. Please visit the site at http://midmoaga.org and give us your
feedback!
Congratulations to Robin Renfrow for leading our chapter
last year and winning an AGA Platinum Level Chapter
Recognition award.
The registration for the 39Th Annual Midwestern Regional
Professional Development Training (PDT) is open now and
we hope you will be able to attend. This year’s theme is “Lead. Excel. Share.”
The PDT will take place at the Courtyard Marriott in Columbia on August 1819, 2014 with 16 Continuing Professional Education hours being offered.
As always, if you have suggestion on topics or speakers, please submit those
to the Education Chair or myself for consideration.
Let’s have fun out there!!
SAVE THE DATE!

24 CPE Hours Available
Held in July each year, AGA's annual premier education event offers up to 24 CPE hours and brings together
the top officials in federal, state and local government as well as academia and the private sector for three and
a half days of intensive training and networking. AGA's PDT has been the go-to
event for the government accountability community for more than 60 years.
Reasons Why You Should Attend:
Earn up to 24 CPE Hours
Enhance your lifelong learning and gain the knowledge and understanding to better improve your job

challenges. In doing so you can earn up to 24 CPE hours.

you key findings and educational experiences to augment your job knowledge and skills. The exhibit hall
allows you to familiarize yourself with the latest equipments, technologies, products and services in the
profession.
Network and Connect
The most unquantifiable yet beneficial aspect of any training event is networking. AGA’s
PDT is the place to connect with a variety of government financial experts and industry
colleagues from around the nation facing the same or similar issues that you could exchange
and share “Aha!” ideas and moments with to bring back to your organization.
Zoom to www.agacgfm.org/PDT2014/Conference-Home.aspx for more information.
2014 Professional Development Training (PDT) Host Committee

serves as the CGFM's affirmation of his or her compliance with the CPE requirements. CGFMs are required to maintain
supporting documentation on CPE hours earned for a minimum of three years and provide it to AGA upon request. This documentation may be
requested by AGA as part of the annual audit of a random sample of CGFMs.
Waivers or extensions on earning CPE hours are granted on an individual case basis. All requests for waivers must be sent in writing to the
AGA’s Office of Professional Certification no later than April 30 in the year following the end of the two-year CPE cycle.
