Welcome
B
y the close of business on Friday 18th July 2014, the total number of orders and
commitments recorded at the Farnborough International Airshow reached US$204bn –
a record for the show. These numbers not only reflect the general buoyancy of the global
aviation market, but also reflect that exhibitors still choose FIA to announce their orders.
For decades, FIA has been a global showcase for the aerospace industry and its reputation
alone attracts a truly international audience. For manufacturers, it’s an opportunity to
demonstrate their aircraft and engines to prospective customers, while for suppliers to the
industry, having a presence at the show allows them to showcase their products and services
to a targeted audience. For many, FIA is the only event they attend as it gives more access to
quality visitors compared to attending other shows.
As organisers of one of the world’s leading aerospace trade shows, we make every effort
to facilitate business for our visitors and exhibitors. With dedicated zones in Space, UAS
technology and the now popular Innovation Zone, we aim to provide exhibitors and visitors
with more focussed networking. Additionally, our Meet-the-Buyer programme, our worldrenowned Civil and Military Delegations programme, Welcome Reception and conference
programme all provide an opportunity to share knowledge, engage with colleagues and
potential customers, and do business.
Looking forward to FIA2016, we will be creating more opportunities for engagement for many
of our core sectors. As well as the Space and UAS markets, we are providing forums for our
MRO, Rotary and Manufacturing Technologies customers. Furthermore, we are looking to
strengthen our Civil Delegations programme and provide more support for our SME customers
who participate in the show.
Operationally, we will continue to invest in the site infrastructure to ensure that the event
remains a standard bearer as a global aviation event with state of the art facilities. FIA2014
saw the development on new permanent Row A Chalets and we are delighted to announce
that at the 2016 event, we will have plans available for the new permanent Hall 1/1A structure
which will be in place for 2018.
Please take a look through the following pages, where you will find more information
about the show and the potential benefits it could offer your business by participating at the
Farnborough International Airshow 2016.

The July figure is an all-time record for a single month made up of 527 single-aisle aircraft and 264
widebodies. The widebody intake is also a new record. The single-aisle intake is not – more were ordered
in June 2011. Orders in July pushed both the single-aisle and the widebody backlogs to new highs.

Participation Options
OPPORTUNITIES FOR SME’S
UK SME’s make up a large portion of the supply chain and represent
a vital element to the Aerospace & Defence Industries. For SME’s,
it can sometimes be difficult to break into the international market
and to keep abreast of market knowledge. FIA recognises this and
as such, provides support and cost effective packages to further
enhance the overall experience and increase participation by
SME’s. The value of marketing your business at the Farnborough
International Airshow can offer a host of new opportunities by
developing personal relationships, promoting products and services
and gaining that all important exposure to the global industry.
FIA2014 represented over
250 UK SME companies
totalling 17% of its overall
participants
SPACE ZONE
The Space Zone is the perfect opportunity for the international space
community to discuss and meet and to encourage business in a forum
that is now becoming recognised as one of the world’s leading Space
show pieces.
• 30 exhibitors participated in 2014
• 10 UK Space Agency seminars took place in the Space Zone
in 2014
• UK astronaut Tim Peake participated in Futures Day
• Key speakers at Space conference
The Space industry in the UK is growing by around 7.5% per annum
and is predicted to be worth around £40 billion by 2030. As the Space
sector continues to grow globally, the Farnborough International
Airshow is the perfect opportunity for manufacturers, suppliers
and providers of Space hardware, navigation and communication
equipment and satellite services to showcase their expertise.
As an SME at FIA, you can benefit from:
• Access to all levels of supply chain
• Access to primes
• Cost effective packages
• Support and guidance on making the most of your participation
• Show mapping/way finding
• Enhanced promotion through a dedicated area on the website
• Access to dedicated areas for SME’s, such as the SME Lounge
•B
usiness to business opportunities such as Meet-The-Buyer events
• Access to the FIA Delegations programme
• Dedicated point of contact
The average business

UAS ZONE
Unmanned and autonomous vehicles are evolving rapidly, and over the
next decade UAV spending will be more than double from $5.2 billion to
$11.6 billion, totalling just over $89 billion in the next 10 years. The UAS
Zone at the Farnborough International Airshow will provide a location
to not only showcase the latest technological advances, but provide an
open forum for debate and issues regarding some of the regulatory and
ethical issues surrounding the adoption of the technology. At FIA2014,
78 UAS exhibitors took part and 12 product briefings were held during
the trade week.
FIA is a truly international
event. 67% of participants
are international and 33%
are from the UK
INNOVATION ZONE
The Innovation Zone brings together the very best in advanced
engineering universities, Research and Technology Organisations
and the agencies that support them, into one central area – creating
a vibrant networking and knowledge transfer hub at the heart of the
show. The creation of this ‘one stop shop’ provides a focal point for
all the innovation needs of the industry. 2014 saw 33 participating
companies and 9 universities exhibit within the Innovation Zone.
UK REGIONAL PAVILIONS
• Aerospace Wales Forum Ltd, Welsh Government
• Farnborough Aerospace Consortium
• Invest in Cornwall
• Midlands Aerospace Alliance
• North West Aerospace Alliance
• Northern Ireland Aerospace
• West of England Aerospace Forum
Regional Pavilions are an excellent opportunity for smaller businesses
to participate in the Farnborough International Airshow under the
support and guidance of larger regional trade organisations. In the UK
for example, ADS, the trade organisation for the Aerospace, Defence,
Space and Security industries hosted the UK Pavilion, which saw
21 companies participating.
BRAND ENHANCEMENT
OPPORTUNITIES
INTERNATIONAL PAVILIONS
International Pavilions offer dedicated areas to showcase a group of
companies from a specific country. International Pavilions can offer
higher visibility as a group exhibit and can attract delegations and
visitors to the zone that have a specific interest in that territory.

Located within the main aircraft display area, the BAP is easily
accessible from the centre of the main exhibition and will continue
to accommodate requests for demonstration flights to potential and
existing customers.
Flexible exhibiting options exist for participation within the BAP
with three or seven day packages.
STATIC AIRCRAFT DISPLAYS
The natural amphitheatre at the Farnborough Aerodrome allows
aircraft to be exhibited to maximum effect in our extensive static
aircraft park. Running in parallel to the exhibition, the static display
gives visitors the opportunity to view the aircraft close up. Aircraft
participating in the flying display can be shown to visitors prior to
flying, or based on the north side of the aerodrome and visited under
arrangements put in place by the Organisers.
FLYING DISPLAY
The daily flying display is a fundamental part of the exhibition.
The display showcases the most advanced aircraft in both
commercial and military design.
Exhibiting
Options
Consistent with Farnborough International Airshow’s business
role, the flying display takes place during the afternoon, leaving
the morning and lunch period free for business activity. The wellstructured display provides a valuable presentation in which you
can demonstrate the capabilities of your products, enhanced by
an illustrative commentary broadcast across the exhibition site.

configurations and can be purchased in multiple units. Entertain
your clients on the private outside balcony where they can enjoy
unobstructed views of the flying display.

BUSINESS CHALETS - CHALET ROW A
The introduction of the new permanent buildings on Chalet Row A saw
the successful completion of Phase 1 of FIA’s wider commitment to site
developments. These new permanent buildings offer the flexibility of
leaving your interior fit-out in place for future editions. This can be a
cost effective option for business chalets long term.
BUSINESS AIRCRAFT PARK
The Business Aircraft Park (BAP) is an area devoted to business
aircraft manufacturers, their products and services. The BAP is now
an integral part of the overall show and contributes significantly to
