A Quick Guide to Selecting Castors & Wheels
This guide is to help you identify the correct castors or wheels for your requirements.
CASTORS
In order to select the appropriate castors you must consider the following; load capacity, castor fittings and environmental conditions.
Load Capacity
For the castor to be effective, you must consider the total load of the unit you wish to manoeuvre. You can use the following equation
to determine your load capacity per castor.

TON
For example a trolley requiring 4 castors, you take the total weight of the trolley, plus the maximum weight the trolley is to carry, and
divide by 3. This will give you the load capacity requirement for each castor, allowing for a margin of safety. The margin of safety is
built in to allow for different working conditions and uneven floor surfaces. Once you have your maximum load requirement, the next
decision is to choose a castor fitting.
Castor Fittings - Bolt Hole Fitting
Castor Fittings - Top Plate Fitting
A single central bolt hole fixing, with a swivelling castor housing
and a bolt hole diameter of either M12 or M10. Can be fitted with
a tubular expander to fit either round or square tubing. Swivel
with brake is available.
A rectangular or square plate with 4 fixing bolts.
The 4 bolts provide a strong fixing and distribute the weight
evenly. Can be either swivelling castor, fixed or swivel with
a brake.
WHEELS
BEARINGS
In general the larger the wheel the more weight it can carry
and the easier it is to move. Bearings in wheels will help to
reduce friction and ease movement. Wheels can be divided
into two categories.
There are 4 types of bearings which can help reduce rolling
resistance. The choice, like the wheels, depends upon the
application, working environment, load capacities and the
amount of movement required. Plain Bearings - for light loads
moving over short distances Roller Bearings- reduces resistance
for heavy loads on short distances Ball Journal – precision
bearings for heavy loads with constant movement Tapered Roller
Bearing – for the largest loads.
Hard Tread Wheels
Easiest to push, least resistance, but can be noisy and
damage certain floors. Available in Cast Iron and Steel, Nylon,
Polypropylene and Phenolic ( High Temp ).
SPECIAL APPLICATIONS
Soft Tread Wheels
Soft tread means more resistance, which may result in being
harder to push. They are however, quieter and kinder to the
floors. Rubber, Non Marking Rubber, Polyurethane, High
Temperature Rubber and Pneumatic wheels.

Twin Wheel Castors
TW Series
An inexpensive range of black plastic 40mm and 50mm hooded twin wheeled castors. Available with M8 & M10 threaded stems and plate fixings.
Suitable for use on light domestic equipment, video stands, office furniture, point of sale and display equipment. All sizes can be supplied with or
without footbrakes. The 75mm heavy duty version is unhooded and can be supplied with M10 stems (2 lengths) or with flat top plates.

The most popular of the flexello castors ranges, the 61 series offers castors from as small as 2” and up to 6” in diameter.
Choose from a wide range of wheels including polyurethane, rubber, nylon, phenolic resin and cast iron. The 61 series also
offers varied fitting types, top plates, triangular plate fittings and a threaded stem and nut fitting in some sizes. Footbrakes are
available on the larger sizes from 3” and upwards. Load capacities start from as little as 27Kg up to 680Kg.
55 Series
A heavy duty pressed steel castors range. 55 series castors are available with a 6” or 8” diameter wheel. Castor wheels

SL Series
A versatile heavy duty fabricated range of castors offering a multitude of options. Castor wheel diameters range from 4” to 8”
and are available in cast iron, nylon, rubber and polyurethane. The wheels can be fitted with plain, roller or tapered bearings.
The SL series castors braking options are wheel brake, combined swivel and wheel brake and a 2 way directional lock. Load
capacities range from 160Kg to 600Kg.
GT Series
The GT series is a range of heavy duty fabricated castors fitted with a single ball bearing swivel head with grease nipple
for easy maintenance. Ideal for handling power towing applications at speeds of upto 25Kph. Available with 6”, 8” or 10”

KV Series
Available in 6”, 8”, 10” and 12” this heavy duty fabricated castor is fitted with a taper roller bearing and ball bearing swivel
head. There are three wheel options available cast iron, rubber on cast iron or polyurethane on cast iron wheels. The swivel
castors can be fitted with a two way directional lock which converts swivel castors to fixed castors by the use of a spring
loaded plunger. The KV series can be power towed at speeds of up to 24Kph, they are also available for high temperature
applications when fitted with the cast iron wheels. Load capacities range from 400Kg to 1,270Kg.
EH Series
An extra heavy duty fabricated range of castors with a double tapered roller bearing swivel head. Ideal for very heavy duty
applications or power towing upto 36Kph. Wheel sizes available range from 6” to 16” in polyurethane with cast iron centres
and 6” to 10” in cast iron. Two way directional locks and expanging hub brakes are available on some sizes. Load capacity on
this range is up to 6,120Kg in optimum conditions.
TOWCASTORS
Flexello towcastors enable ISO freight containers to be moved quickly and efficently without the use of equipment such as
cranes, gantries and side loading fork trucks. Flexello towcastors come as a complete set comprising of 2 swivel and 2 fixed
castors. The heavy duty fabricated castors have special adaptor plates that lock securly into the corner of ISO containers
using the supplied quick action securing screws. Also supplied is a lifting handle and ratchet spanner to facilitate easy use.
Each Flexello towcastor set come in 2 sizes a 10” diameter wheel with load capcity of 10 tonnes and a 12” version with a load
capacity of 12 tonnes. An optional extra is the patented towbar which is specifically designed to fit into the front of the ISO
container corner casting.

TS1 Series
The Revvo TS1 series castors is a range of light duty flat top plated castors available in 40, 50 or 63mm wheel diameters
and with the option of either a nylon or grey rubber wheel. The TS1 range can be supplied either as a swivel or fixed castor.
Optional extras for the Revvo TS1 range of castors inclue a footbrake, triangular top plate and threadguards. Load capacities
are low at upto 50Kg. Also available is the BS range with a M8 bolt fitting.
TS2 Series
Revvo’s TS2 top plate castor series is available in 50, 75 and 100mm diameter wheels in either a swivel, fixed or braked
castor. The wheel options available in the Revvo TS2 castors range are nylon and grey rubber. Optional extras are a triangular
top plate and threadguards. Load capacities range from 36Kg to 75Kg. Also available as a M10 bolt hole fitting in the Revvo
BS2 series.
TS3 Series
A light duty pressed steel range of Revvo castors, the TS3 range offers castor wheel sizes including 63mm, 75, 100mm and
125mm. Nylon, grey rubber and cast iron with polyurethane and rubber are all available. The TS3 offers swivel, fixed and
braked top plate castors with load capacities ranging from 30Kg to 125Kg. Triangular top plates and threadgurads are both
available as optional extras. The TS3 range is available with a M12 bolt hole fitting the BS3 series.
TS4 Series
Revvo’s most comprehensive range of castor wheels the TS4 series are pressed steel with a single ball race swivel head.
Castor wheel diameters are 75, 100 and 125mm. The TS4 series has a multitude of wheel options including nylon, phenolic
resin, cast iron and cast iron with rubber or polyurethane tyres. A choice of top plate sizes are also available in the Revvo
TS4 range of castors. Different styles of brakes are available including a wheel lock, footbrake and swivel and wheel lock.
Threadguards and rubber head seals can also be fitted to the TS4 range of castor wheels. Load capacities range from 80Kg
upto 365Kg. Also available as a M12 bolt hole castor in the BS4 series.
TS5 Series
The TS5 series of castors can cater for loads up to 1,000Kg. Available in either 150mm or 200mm diameter wheels this single

hydraulic grease nipple for easy maintenance it is a castor with real clout. Complimented by Revvo’s range of heavy duty
nylon, cast iron, steel and polyurethane wheel this castor is suitable for the most hardened enviroments. Wheel sizes range
from 100mm up to 300mm with load capacities reaching 1,500Kg. The Revvo TSH series offers 3 top plate sizes and can
be supplied a wheel brake, swivel and wheel brake, wheel lock as braking options. A specialist leverlock can also be fitted
where a rocking pedal presses a plunger onto the wheel and also locks the swivel. A 2 way directional lock is also available
to retro fit.
2SH Series
Revvo castors twin wheel version of their TSH series of castor wheels has a larger ‘footprint’ for easier turning due to
differentail action of the wheels. The 2SH fabricated twin wheel castor range is available in 125, 150 and 200mm with either
cast iron or polyurethane on cast iron. A wheel lock, directional and lock leverlock are available. The 2SH fabriacted twin
castor can carry loads up to 1,500Kg.
TSP Series
The TSP series encorporates two large diameter hardened ball races, which makes it ideal for tow trailer applications.
Maximum towing speeds of 6kph or 3.7mph for maximum load capacities. Wheel types are cast iron, polyurethane on cast
iron, rubber on cast iron and steel, available in 150, 200, 250 and 250mm diameters. The fabricated TSP series can be fitted
with a 4 way directional or footbrake. Load capacities for the TSPO fabricated castor is up to 2,000Kg.
SS/SJE Series
A comprehensive range of scaffold castors from the British castors manufacturer Revvo. Available in 2 different styles the SS
series with an offset wheel available in 100, 125, 150 and 200mm diameter nylon, cast iron, polyurethane and rubber wheels.
Offered in a wide range of sized socket or plug fittings with load capacities up to 820Kg or the SJE series which has a zero
offset and is paticularly designed for aluminium scaffolding. Wheel diameters for the Revvo SJE series of castors are 125,
150 and 200mm. Fittings are either a 38mm plug, 50.8mm socket or top plate with load capacities up to 1,000Kg. Brakes are
available on both ranges to ensure maximum safety is achievable.

Terms & Conditions of Sale
1. DEFINITIONS
6. TITLE AND RISK
The following definitions shall apply to the following phrases when used in these
conditions:
The Goods remain the sole and absolute property of the Company until the Purchaser
has paid for the Goods in full. The Goods are insured by and at the risk of the Company
until they are off loaded at the Purchases delivery address, place of business or otherwise
specified address. It is then the purchaser’s responsibility to insure the Goods. Purchasers
right to possession of the Goods terminates if the Purchaser has failed to pay for the
Goods in full or has a Bankruptcy order made against them.
• ‘’The Company’’ means Ross Handling Ltd
• ‘’ The Goods ‘’ means any standard goods supplied by the company to the purchaser under contract subject to these conditions
• ‘’ The Purchaser’’ means the person(s), firm or company (including the consumer) –whose order for the Goods is accepted by the Company.
• ‘’The Consumer’’ means an individual who enters into a contract for purpose which is outside its trade, business or profession. The consumers will be governed by Distance Selling Regulations ( DSR’s )
The purchaser, to whom the goods are to be supplied, are subject to these conditions:
Our Terms and Conditions apply to all contracts for the sale of Goods by the Company,
any deviations are not accepted unless we expressly agreed to them in writing. They
are Governed by English Law. The placing of the order will be deemed to constitute
acceptance of these terms. These conditions will apply to all future contracts, written or
verbal for the supply of goods.
2. QUOTES AND ORDERS
7. WARANTEES AND CONDITIONS
The warrantees and conditions contained in the Sale of Goods Act 1979 shall apply to
this contract and all other warrantees and conditions wether express or implied are hereby
excluded provided that:
a) The Company may very designs and specifications or modift the Goods supplied
without prior notice, provided such modifications do not adversely effect the performance
of the Goods.
b)The Company shall be under no liability to the Purchaser or any third party for any
consequential or economic loss or expenses.
c) The Company shall be under no liability for breach of any of the said conditions and
warrantees arising from defects in the Goods unless a claim has been notified within 6
months form the date the Goods were delivered.
Quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of the quote. Quotations are subject to
alteration and withdrawal without notice by the Company. Whilst we will make every
effort to maintain prices quoted, often unexpected rises in material costs or changes
in quantities ordered by the purchaser my affect prices quoted. Orders or acceptance
of a quotation, are accepted by the Company, with either a written purchase order , fax
or e mail and / or verbal confirmation of the order. Minimum order values are £10 ( exc.
Carriage and VAT )Acceptance of the order by the Company is deemed as the Purchaser
or Consumer accepting the Terms and Conditions of Sale.
d) The Company may at its option either repair or replace any Goods which may be found
to be defective.
3. PRICE
8. DAMAGES AND SHORTAGES
The price quoted upon application to the Company is exclusive of VAT. All prices quoted
are subject to carriage unless the Goods are collected by the Purchaser, or Purchasers
courier. The Company reserves the right to alter any of its prices at any time and Goods
despatched after the date of such alteration shall be invoiced at the rate then prevailing.
Where quantities ordered vary from those quoted for, the Company reserves the right to
requote.
The Company will credit or replace any products that we agree are defective or damaged,
free of charge and carriage free. Providing such Goods are not defective due to misuse
and the Purchaser informs the Company within 3 working days of receipt. The Company
does not accept liability for expenses incurred by Purchaser on such defective products
or for any direct or consequential damage arising from such a defect. Misuse, can refer
to using the Goods for a purpose other than specified and intended. For example using
higher loads than specified in the Company literature or web site. Using on uneven floors,
in extremes of temperatures, using around hazardous chemicals, rough use, impacts,
foreign matter intrusions, excessive speeds or any modifications made. Shortages must
also be advised to the Company within 3 working days otherwise we cannot accept
claims. The Company will not be liable for any failure or delay or for the consequential
loss of any failure or delay in performance of the contract if it is due to any event or force
majeure, beyond the reasonable control of the company.
4. DESCRIPTIONS, SAMPLES AND LITERATURE
All descriptions, drawings, sizes, specifications issued by the Company or published in
Company literature must not be relied upon by the Buyer, as they are issued to give an
approximate idea.
5. PAYMENT
Where no credit account has been opened, the Purchaser is required to pay in advance
for the Goods. In order to set up a credit account the Purchaser would need to apply to
the Company directly for more information.
Where a credit account has been opened the invoice for the Goods will become due 30
days from the date of the invoice. In the event that the purchaser fails to make payment by
that date the Company may without prejudice to any other rights which it may have:
a) Suspend all further deliveries to the Purchaser under the contract in question or any
other contract.
b) Require payment in advance for any future deliveries
c) Require payment of interest on the amount due at a compound annual rate of 3% per
annum above the Bank of England Base Rate for the time prevailing from the date when
payment becomes due to the actual date of payment
d) Withdraw the credit account at any time and make credit reference searches in relation
to the buyer.
e) Reduce and or remove the credit limit and review on a quarterly basis.
5. DELIVERY
Unless otherwise agreed the Goods will be sent to the Purchaser by courier service and
unless contrary instructions are received, the Goods will be delivered to the Purchasers
place of business and or Invoice address. Therefore transport of the Goods will be subject
to the couriers conditions, which are available upon request.
Any period of time or dates quoted for delivery of the Goods are approximate and will
not be the essence of the contract. The Company will not be liable for any claim for
any shortages, pilferage or damage to Goods unless the Company is advised within 3
working days of delivery. This is in addition to and does not affect a Consumers rights in
relation to defective goods given to consumers by law. Should the Goods be returned
due to incorrect ordering on the part of the Purchaser, the Company reserves the right to
charge 20% restocking charge and will not refund carriage. Should the Purchaser fail to
take delivery, or fail to give the Company adequate delivery instructions in advance then
the Company will have deemed to have delivered the Goods, and carriage will not be
refunded. The Company will not be liable for any claim for non delivery unless advised by
the Purchaser within 7 days of the relevant Invoice Date. Any delay in delivery does not
entitle the Purchaser to terminate the contract, unless and until the Purchaser has given a
specific amount days written notice to the Company requiring delivery to be made and the
Company has not fulfilled the delivery.
e) The Company’s liability for any loss or damage caused by any defect in the Goods shall
be limited to the amount paid or payable by the Purchaser to the Company for the Goods.
f) Third Parties , unless the right of enforcement is expressly provided, it is not intended
that a third party should have the right to any part of this contract pursuant to the Contract.

9. TERMINATION
The Company does not accept termination of special orders (which are defined as non
standard stock items). These goods are non refundable. The Company reserves the right
to terminate the contract to supply Goods should the Purchaser enter into insolvency,
bankruptcy, or any arrangements with its creditors, or breach the contract.
10. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
If the Goods are or any part thereof are defective solely as a result of faulty materials or
workmanship of the Company, the Company’s liability shall be limited, at its discretion,
either by replacing such goods or the defective part, or by giving the Purchaser credit for
the value. No such liability shall arise unless notification of any defect is received by the
Company within 3working days
11. INDEMNITY
The Purchaser agrees to indemnify the Company against liabilities incurred by the
Company ( including damages, losses and expenses) awarded against or incurred by
the Company by reason of any proceedings, claims or demand which may be made or
brought against the Company: either
a) Alleging infringement of any patent copyright or other rights of third parties by reason
of anything done by the seller in accordance with the Purchaser designs, specifications or
instructions express or implied or
b) Alleging injury, death, loss or damage to any third party or property of third party by
reason of any defect in any of the goods when the same have been supplied by the
Company in accordance with the Purchasers designs, specifications or instructions
express or implied

14. LAW
The formation, existence and construction of this contract of terms and conditions is
Governed by English Law and shall be subject to the jurisdiction of English Courts
