Canada Science & Technology Museum refurbishment
In September 2014, the federal government announced an $80.5 million
investment into the refurbishment of the Canada Science and
Technology Museum. It’s scheduled to reopen in 2017 as part of
Canada’s 150th birthday celebrations.

• New permanent Arctic Gallery at the Canadian
Museum of Nature
• 100th anniversary of the Bytown Museum
• A Century of Community [working title]
exhibition featuring eclectic, unique and beautiful
works and images from the Museum’s primary
collections, as well as a selection of exceptional
artefacts that helped shape the history of Ottawa
and Canada.
• The Bank of Canada Museum (formerly the Currency
Museum of the Bank of Canada) reopens in a totally
renovated building on Sparks Street.

• A $100 million redevelopment of Arts Court, including a
21-storey mixed-use tower (Le Germain hotel and
condominiums), a 250-seat multi-purpose and filmscreening room, a 120-seat theatre, renovated Ottawa Art
Gallery and more!
• The Global Centre for Pluralism (Aga Khan Foundation) will
open on Sussex Drive in the former Canadian War Museum
building, creating a global destination for dialogue about
the foundations and benefits of pluralism.
• There are plans to erect a Stanley Cup monument at the
corner of Sparks Street and Elgin Street in downtown
Ottawa (possibly in March 2017).

Championships
The best whitewater paddlers in the country compete
alongside up-and-coming athletes for the title of
national champion.

This week-long celebration will include gaming
competitions where the semi-final and final
matches will be projected onto the sides of

Tentative plans exist to host an outdoor NHL hockey
game at Lansdowne Park to commemorate the
100th anniversary of the first National Hockey
League game (Ottawa vs Montréal).
