OPENING ACT - Charlie Bowie has performed 13 states in 3 time zones. Forged on the mean streets of Baltimore’s suburbs and private school system, Charlie Bowie is a genuine goofball. He moved to Florida to get a college education and 5 ½ years later he finished on the lower end of his class and proudly said, “Screw you finance world! I’m telling jokes to tens of people.” He has progressed in the comedy world performing for thousands with the likes of, Nick Kroll (The League), Judah Friedlander (30 Rock) and Dante’ Nero (The Chappelle show). He is a semi-professional beer taster and an amateur bird watcher. Myke Herlihy is one of the most lovable jerks you’ll ever meet! After spending thirteen years behind bars, serving drinks not time, Myke now takes his bartender’s wit to the stage. Whether he’s discussing his failed relationships, ranting about the trials and tribulations of being an unplanned father, or reminiscing over the insanity that was his childhood, Myke always manages to find the light at the end of the tunnel. His ability to find the funny in any situation has made him a favorite in venues throughout the country. In 2012 and 2013 he was a semi-finalist in the annual “Florida’s Funniest Comedian” competition and in 2013, he was invited to perform at “The World Series of Comedy” in Las Vegas, NV., “The Boston Comedy Festival” in Sommerville, MA., and “The Laugh Your Asheville Off Comedy Festival” in Asheville, NC. He has shared the stage with the likes of Ralphie May, Louie Anderson, Tom Rhodes, Michael Winslow, Pete Lee and Dustin Diamond. Tickets for this event are $10.00 per person and includes non-alcoholic beverages and bar type snack food. Please register at the HOA office today! “Turning Houses into Homes and Customers into Homeowners for Life.” FROM THE AD DESK The HOA staff is pleased and excited to welcome Mindy Roberts to the community and to our team as Activities Director. I N F O R M AT I O N THE BOARD’S CORNER As you know there has been a fair amount of discussion and advice as it relates to “speeding and driving in general.” The Board will address the issue on a continuing Safety Basis, but please consider the following: While signage is “informative” and there needs to be strategically placed signage, it is the driver’s sense of responsibility that governs their individual behavior. While we have stop signs at intersections of our roadways as a clear indication of multi-directional traffic, it has a dedicated purpose for all to stop. It’s not just a suggestion for others. While we all have places to go and things to do, the small gain in travel time by increased speed will most assuredly NOT be worth it if you’re involved in an accident. Signage and rules are for everyone. There is no person or group who is or should feel “entitled” to believe the rules are meant only for others. As a small friendly community, let us try to exercise some increased patience and respect for each other whether we’re driving, “tooling around” in a golf cart, riding a bike, or exercising as a walker or runner. Basic suggestions proffered: If you’re driving a car, stay on the roadway. This seems logical. If you’re a walker, stay on the sidewalk. Best place for your safety. Note the word “walk” in sidewalk. If you’re a runner, consider the sidewalk and not the roadway in the traffic circles/islands; the line of sight is reduced. If you’re driving a golf cart, the posted speed limit of 25 is for cars on the road; NOT for carts on the sidewalks and going over the bridges. OLD TOPIC: “The ‘construction gate’ is open, so the signs are for everyone else, but not for me. I’m exempt because...” WRONG! If there is an accident you have no one to blame. You should not be using the gate. ”Well others do...” Remember Mom saying, “If others jump off the bridge, would you?” So PLEASE, help us all in these matters. If you’re in the 95% who comply, THANK YOU! If you’ve been in the other 5% either occasionally or consistently, PLEASE slow down, enjoy the scenery and your neighbors. LET’S EXERCISE SELF-CONTROL and PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. The Alternative = MORE POLICING. Respectfully, Michael A. Pace, H.O.A. President Policy Reminders • The VillageWalk HOA documents contain a lease minimum requirement of four (4) months, and all leases must be submitted to the HOA office for approval 21 days prior to the date the lease begins. • All exterior décor, plants, shrubs, trees or any alterations, additions or changes to the exterior of the home must be approved by the ACC committee. A . I N F O R M AT I O N Hurricane Season began June 1st and ends November 30th! Shutters may be installed June 1 through November 30th if the home will be unoccupied for the Hurricane Season. Shutters must be white or painted to match the exterior color of the home. Reminder all shutters must come down or reopen December 1, no exceptions. Remember to take stock of what you have on the exterior that needs to be secured during a hurricane: Potted plants, exterior umbrellas, lanai furniture and exterior art décor all needs to be secured prior to a hurricane. Any small, loose items can become missiles during these storms, causing a lot of damage to property, screened cages and unprotected windows. Check you pool enclosures and lanai cages for rusty or brown or missing bolts and replace any found with new bolts: this keeps them strongest in high winds.
