OPENING ACT - Charlie Bowie has performed 13 states in 3 time
zones. Forged on the mean streets of Baltimore’s suburbs and
private school system, Charlie Bowie is a genuine goofball. He
moved to Florida to get a college education and 5 ½ years later
he finished on the lower end of his class and proudly said, “Screw
you finance world! I’m telling jokes to tens of people.” He has
progressed in the comedy world performing for thousands with
the likes of, Nick Kroll (The League), Judah Friedlander (30 Rock) and Dante’ Nero (The
Chappelle show). He is a semi-professional beer taster and an amateur bird watcher.

MAIN ACT - Originally from Manchester, CT. Myke Herlihy is
one of the most lovable jerks you’ll ever meet! After spending
thirteen years behind bars, serving drinks not time, Myke now
takes his bartender’s wit to the stage. Whether he’s discussing
his failed relationships, ranting about the trials and tribulations
of being an unplanned father, or reminiscing over the insanity
that was his childhood, Myke always manages to find the light
at the end of the tunnel. His ability to find the funny in any situation has made him
a favorite in venues throughout the country. In 2012 and 2013 he was a semi-finalist
in the annual “Florida’s Funniest Comedian” competition and in 2013, he was invited
to perform at “The World Series of Comedy” in Las Vegas, NV., “The Boston Comedy
Festival” in Sommerville, MA., and “The Laugh Your Asheville Off Comedy Festival” in
Asheville, NC. He has shared the stage with the likes of Ralphie May, Louie Anderson,
Tom Rhodes, Michael Winslow, Pete Lee and Dustin Diamond.
Tickets for this event are $10.00 per person and includes non-alcoholic beverages
and bar type snack food. Please register at the HOA office today!

others run toward the vortex, testing how
far a storm chaser will go for that once-in-alifetime shot. Told through the eyes and lenses
of professional storm chasers, thrill-seeking
amateurs, and courageous townspeople,
“Into the Storm” throws you directly into the
eye of the storm to experience Mother Nature
at her most extreme.
Please RSVP for each Matinee Movie 24

5 people to run these events. Popcorn and
beverages will be served and we ask for a

This event was such a great success in January, we
have invited this game show back to VillageWalk. Get
your teams together and join Nancy and Barry from
Name that Tune Trivia Game show as they take us on a
musical adventure!
Here’s how it works: Teams consist of 10 people. Do
not worry if you don’t have a team, we will match you
up! A snippet of a song will be played (10-25 seconds)
and the team’s job is to: 1) Name that tune 2) Name
the artist and 3) Supply the next line of the song. 1
point is received for the title, 2 points for the artist
and 3 points for the next line resulting in a total of 6
possible points. Each snippet is repeated three times
to give ample opportunity for team players to confer
and agree. This is done in 2 halves. During half time,
while the scores are being tallied, and following the
game, there will be dance music by Nancy and Barry
to get you up and going. There will be prizes awarded
for the top teams.
Price is $10 per person, non-alcoholic beverages will
be provided. Reservations for this trivia night are on
sale at the HOA office.

Closet is a community listing of baby and children’s items such as
cribs, strollers, play toys, etc. that you are willing to share with other
homeowners. We all have family who come into town; instead of buying
these items why not help someone in need. If you are willing to share or
need items to be shared, please contact Margie Lutz at 390-9305 or email
[email protected]. Don’t forget to mention your name, phone number,
the items and if you are seasonal or permanent. We thank you in advance!

WEDNESDAY, JULY 8, 2015
We will meet at 1:00 p.m. in the Town Center. The book is
“The Dinner” by Herman Koch and Kathy Lehmann will be
our discussion leader.
An internationally best-selling phenomenon: the darkly
suspenseful, highly controversial tale of two families struggling
to make the hardest decision of their lives – all over the course
of one meal. Each couple has a fifteen year old son and the boys
are united by one single horrific act. The act has triggered a
police investigation and shattered the comfortable insulated
worlds of their families.
WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 12, 2015
We will meet at 1:00 p.m. in the Town Center. The book is
“The Same Sky” by Amanda Eyre Ward and Lela Gahwiler will
be our discussion leader.
Carla and Alice live worlds apart, though their live are tied by
parallel tragedies. Carla, who is 11, poor and from Honduras, is
trying to get across the Texas border to find her mother. Hundreds
of miles away in Austin, 40-something Alice is grieving. Unable
to bear a child, she and her husband arranged to adopt a baby,
but his mother reclaimed him after just one night.Ward builds
the drama with chapters that alternate Carla’s journey with
Alice’s, sharpening the contract between their situations.
Please call Dorothy at 390-9417 or email [email protected] if
you plan to attend.

a great benefit for VillageWalk as Miromar will be giving
back money to our property with every referral card turned
in. We can use these gift cards for prizes at our upcoming
functions! So grab a whole bunch and pass them out to your
friends and neighbors. It’s a win-win for everyone.
Volunteer Spreadsheet-Updating
We are in the process of updating our 2015 volunteer spreadsheet. If you have volunteered or led a
group in the 2014-2015 season, please submit your contact information for you or your group, as well
as what you volunteer for such as special events, library, website, tv channel, flyers etc. to Robin Burke
at [email protected].  Make sure to include your name, address, phone number, email address.
We thank you in advance for your assistance as we work to improve our database.
Due to the high volume of activities and for more efficient tracking purposes, payment is required with reservations for all activities. There will
only be a 72-hour window for residents who are out of town. We thank you in advance for helping us make this smooth transition to improve
our overall accounting records for the activities here at VillageWalk. For special events, including dinner dances, there will be a full refund for
cancellations made up to 7 days prior to the event date. For day trips the minimum cancellation is 15 days prior to the trip date. For tickets
purchased such as theatre, sporting events, and other special events as specified ALL SALES ARE FINAL. Cancellations after these dates for any
reason including medical or family concerns are subject to forfeiture of the entire cost unless the event is re-sold, in which case a refund will be
issued. For all activities reservations, please see Tammy at the HOA Office window.

THE BOARD’S CORNER
As you know there has been a fair amount of discussion and advice as it relates to “speeding and driving in
general.” The Board will address the issue on a continuing Safety Basis, but please consider the following:
While signage is “informative” and there needs to be strategically placed signage, it is the driver’s sense of
responsibility that governs their individual behavior.
While we have stop signs at intersections of our roadways as a clear indication of multi-directional traffic, it
has a dedicated purpose for all to stop. It’s not just a suggestion for others.
While we all have places to go and things to do, the small gain in travel time by increased speed will most
assuredly NOT be worth it if you’re involved in an accident.
Signage and rules are for everyone. There is no person or group who is or should feel “entitled” to believe
the rules are meant only for others.
As a small friendly community, let us try to exercise some increased patience and respect for each other
whether we’re driving, “tooling around” in a golf cart, riding a bike, or exercising as a walker or runner.
Basic suggestions proffered:
If you’re driving a car, stay on the roadway. This seems logical.
If you’re a walker, stay on the sidewalk. Best place for your safety. Note the word “walk” in sidewalk.
If you’re a runner, consider the sidewalk and not the roadway in the traffic circles/islands; the line of sight is
reduced.
If you’re driving a golf cart, the posted speed limit of 25 is for cars on the road; NOT for carts on the sidewalks
and going over the bridges.
OLD TOPIC: “The ‘construction gate’ is open, so the signs are for everyone else, but not for me. I’m exempt
because...” WRONG! If there is an accident you have no one to blame. You should not be using the gate.
”Well others do...” Remember Mom saying, “If others jump off the bridge, would you?”
So PLEASE, help us all in these matters. If you’re in the 95% who comply, THANK YOU! If you’ve been in the
other 5% either occasionally or consistently, PLEASE slow down, enjoy the scenery and your neighbors.
LET’S EXERCISE SELF-CONTROL and PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY.
The Alternative = MORE POLICING.
Respectfully,
Michael A. Pace, H.O.A. President

Hurricane Season began June 1st and ends November 30th!
Shutters may be installed June 1 through November 30th if the home will be unoccupied for the
Hurricane Season. Shutters must be white or painted to match the exterior color of the home.
Reminder all shutters must come down or reopen December 1, no exceptions.
Remember to take stock of what you have on the exterior that needs to be secured during a hurricane:
Potted plants, exterior umbrellas, lanai furniture and exterior art décor all needs to be secured prior to
a hurricane. Any small, loose items can become missiles during these storms, causing a lot of damage to property, screened
cages and unprotected windows.
Check you pool enclosures and lanai cages for rusty or brown or missing bolts and replace any found with new bolts: this
keeps them strongest in high winds.
Just a reminder: Must have’s in your ready-to-go emergency kit:
✔✔ 1 gallon of drinking water per day per person
✔✔ Non-perishable ready-to-eat- food (canned foods/milk, peanut butter, energy or granola bars, instant coffee and

✔✔ Analog phone (no battery or electricity needed)
✔✔ First aid kit, bug spray, sunscreen, extra batteries, baby or sanitary wipes
✔✔ Battery operated radio (extra batteries) and NOAA or other radio

sealed plastic bags to keep dry
✔✔ Extra bleach for disinfecting water
✔✔ Work or gardening gloves, sturdy shoes, hat.
✔✔ Check on line for Lee County’s Hurricane Preparation Plan for more information.
