department, to be first responders in emergency situations such as
hurricanes and tornadoes. The team is activated by Bonita Springs
Fire and Rescue during such emergencies.
At Village Walk we have meetings the second Wednesday of
each month at the Town Center. We discuss plans for emergency
situations, refresh our training and enable us to better function as a
team. The VillageWalk team always seeks more volunteers to better
address emergency events. Residents interested in joining should
contact Nicole Hornberger at Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue,
(239) 949-6227, [email protected]. The next 2-day training
class will be scheduled in September. These training courses are free
and quite valuable for responders to emergencies.
If you would like more information or have any questions, please
email [email protected].
The Cancer Support Group
Grandma’s Closet
We need your baby stuff! As people move in and out of our community, it’s
important to keep updating our Grandma’s Closet listing. Grandma’s Closet
is a community listing of baby and children’s items such as cribs, strollers,
play toys, etc. that you are willing to share with other homeowners. We
all have family who come into town; instead of buying these items why
not help someone in need. If you are willing to share or need items to be
shared, please email Margie Lutz at [email protected]. Don’t forget
to mention your name, phone number, the items and if you are seasonal or
permanent. We thank you in advance!
Sunshine Committee
Many times we would be more than willing to help our
neighbors if we only knew they were in need. If you know
someone in our community who is ailing, or who has lost a loved one,
please contact Mary Jane at 221-7160 or email [email protected].
The Cancer Support Group meets monthly
to provide a forum for those who have been
impacted by cancer - survivors, caregivers and
anyone who would like to be involved in the fight.
We offer support, information and resources, or just a few
words of encouragement from “someone who has been there.”
Please come to a meeting and see what we’re all about.
The Cancer Support Group will meet the second Wednesday
of the month at 4:00 p.m. in the Town Center. For more
information, you may call Caryl Rumble at 239-390-5032 or
email her at [email protected].

Cocktails and Conversation!
Next get together is Friday, November 13th • 7:00 p.m.
On the second Friday of the month, Village Walk residents come together at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Center to socialize, meet new people,
and generally have fun. It’s informal, there is no agenda, and no planned activities. Just some old-fashioned conversation and sharing. We
would especially like to invite all new residents so we can get to know our neighbors in this amazing community. This is a great way to meet
people, find out things your neighbors have learned, and for you to learn from them as well. No need to RSVP. Just come and enjoy your fellow
Village Walk neighbors for an evening of relaxation. Please bring a snack to share if you wish, what you’d like to drink, and any paper products
you might need. Hope to see you there!

HOOKED ON BOOKS
WEDNESDAY, NOV. 11, 2015
We will meet at 1:00 pm in the Town Center. The
book is “Necessary Lies” by Diane Chamberlin and
Linda Laughlin will be our discussion leader.
After losing her parents, fifteen-year-old Ivy Hart is left to care for her
grandmother, older sister and nephew as tenants on a small tobacco farm.
As she struggles with her grandmother’s aging, her sister’s mental illness
and her own epilepsy, she realizes they might need more than she can give.
Jane Forrester is Grace County’s newest social worker; she doesn’t realize just
how much her help is needed. She quickly becomes emotionally invested in
her clients’ lives, causing tension with her boss and her new husband.
Set in rural Grace County, North Carolina in a time of state-mandated
sterilizations and racial tension, Necessary Lies tells the story of these two
young women, seemingly worlds apart, but both haunted by tragedy. Jane
and Ivy are thrown together and must ask themselves: how can you know
what you believe is right, when everyone is telling you it’s wrong?
LOOKING AHEAD - WEDNESDAY, DEC 9, 2015
Lela Gahwiler has graciously invited us to her home for a holiday covered
dish luncheon and gift exchange. This is limited to members only.

the story from the viewpoint of the unsuspecting target, a head psychiatrist
of a suburban hospital.”
Our optional meeting’s preface starts at 6:15 pm. Feel free to BYOD and/
or snacks to share (optional, too!), or just come at 7 for the meeting! We
will also be discussing our HOLIDAY PARTY PLANS (DECEMBER 3rd)!

glamorous looks of the 1970s. The approximately 80 ensembles and 20 accessories, drawn from The Museum at FIT’s extensive collection of pieces from both designers,
reflect the social, economic and political realities of their creators and the world at large.
Dressed and Undressed

Post Office News
This is to inform our new residents, and remind our returning snow birds and current residents of some important
Post Office facts.
•We do not take credit or debit cards. Cash or checks are acceptable. Small bills are greatly appreciated, too.
•Please remember to empty your mail box, at the least, every 2 days. Those very small boxes fill up quickly. If mail sits in your box for 10 days,
the mail carrier is required to return it to the main P.O. where it will be returned to sender.
•Parcels must be removed promptly from the larger boxes below. If a parcel sits for 3 days, the carrier will return it to the main P.O. where it
can be picked up. There are not adequate boxes, for the large volume of packages delivered during the busy season, to have items sitting for

NOVEMBER 2015 TALK OF THE WALK~ 19
H . O . A . I N F O R M AT I O N
The HOA Office wishes a Happy and SAFE Thanksgiving to all our VillageWalk residents! We are closed Thursday
and Friday, November 26th & 27th. We will return to our regular office hours on Monday, November 30th.
In case of an emergency, please contact our after hours emergency number: 239-261-3440: Please give the
answering service your name, address, phone number and the nature of your emergency.
Election Committee to be Formed
As we begin to prepare for the upcoming election of 3 Board members at the next Annual Meeting, scheduled
for March 16th, 2016, we are again asking for volunteers to serve on this important ad-hoc committee.
Those interested in serving again, or in volunteering for the first time to serve, please contact khalas@
swpropmgt.com. Please respond by November 11th, 2015, by 5 p.m. An organizational meeting of the
committee will be announced following formation.
Neighborhood Representatives
Please begin to plan your annual neighborhood representative election meetings so all
streets are represented at the Annual Meeting. Only Neighborhood Reps need to sign in
at the Annual Meeting, which establishes a quorum to be able to hold meeting.
Streets Past Due for Their Meetings:
Bonefish Trail, Narwhal Way and Sea Star Lane. If this information is incorrect please
contact Tammy at the HOA office to update your neighborhood information.
Streets Currently Without Representation:
Cetation Way, Dorado Drive, Fantail Circle, Queen Angel Way, Upwind Drive, the West
Block (Auk Way & Blue Marlin Terrace combined) and East Block (Jeneva Way, East End of Latitude, and VillageWalk Cir). If anyone needs
assistance in planning a meeting for their street, please contact Tammy at the HOA office. A planning packet is available upon request.
First Neighborhood Meetings to be Held in January:
Reef Lane, Umiak Circle, Tiger Barb Way, Quiet Water Way and Pisces Lane. A schedule with meeting dates will be printed in the December
newsletter, so please watch for the date and time of your street meeting!
Holiday Decorations
Residents may begin their Holiday decorating during Thanksgiving weekend. However, the
HOA asks that residents keep the following restrictions in mind when decorating their homes:
•The HOA does not permit lights to be attached to palm tree trunks. Many residents do so anyway, regardless of this restriction. Staples or any other
puncturing materials will damage the palm trees and may cause disease or death of the tree. Trees damaged due to installation of string lights or
other holiday décor will be replaced at the resident’s expense.
•Decorations placed on lawns or in beds or on trees are placed at the residents own risk: neither the HOA nor any vendors providing maintenance to
the community shall be held responsible for damages to any items placed outside the unit.
•Homes with decorations placed on lawns, in beds or on trees may not receive regularly performed maintenance.
•All decorations must be removed on or before January 10th.

• Please do not use the fitness equipment if you have just come off the tennis or bocce courts, or
bring an alternate pair of shoes to change into before using the equipment. The hartru from the
courts gets caught in shoe treads, and is getting into the gears and machinery, especially the
treadmills, causing damage to these machines. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated by all.
• Hurricane Shutters must be removed or reopened by December 1st, no exceptions. Violators who
are receiving their second violation letter will received a fine for each day the shutters remain up
after December 1.
• Lower the pool umbrellas when leaving the pools for the day to protect them from sudden storms and high winds.
• Do not ride or park bikes on the walkways of the Town Center: this will keep everyone on the walkways safe from injury and will keep the tire marks
off the Town Center walls.
• Trash cans and recycling bins must be stored out of sight from the streets, neighbors and common areas at the end of each pick up day. Violation carries
a $25 fine per incident.
Recent Happenings
•Palm tree trimming was completed throughout the community.
•Tennis courts 1-4 were resurfaced, lights repaired and gates installed.
•Umbrellas were repaired and replaced at the pools along with
furniture.
•Resort and Lap Pools have been resurfaced and an additional hand rail
installed.
•Two new bike racks were added near the tennis courts.
•Padding was added to the pickleball court light poles.
•VillageWalk enjoyed the first visiting open-air farmers market.
What’s Coming Up?
•The fitness center, great room, and chairs are to be cleaned in
November. Notices will be posted alerting residents to the dates.
(Ballrooms were cleaned in July)
•Paint touch ups will begin throughout the interior and exterior of the
Town Center and amenities. Please watch out for the maintenance
men while they are working and the safety cones that will be placed
where paint is wet.
•Parking lot restriping will begin in November. Please watch for safety
cones designating lot closures.
•Mulch and pine straw are scheduled to go down the Monday following
Thanksgiving: please be sure to remove all items from the beds to
allow for this installation.
