VillageWalk CERT Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the Town Center CERT is a group of community volunteers trained by our local fire department, to be first responders in emergency situations such as hurricanes and tornadoes. The team is activated by Bonita Springs Fire and Rescue during such emergencies. At Village Walk we have meetings the second Wednesday of each month at the Town Center. We discuss plans for emergency situations, refresh our training and enable us to better function as a team. The VillageWalk team always seeks more volunteers to better address emergency events. Residents interested in joining should contact Nicole Hornberger at Bonita Springs Fire Control and Rescue, (239) 949-6227, [email protected]. The next 2-day training class will be scheduled in September. These training courses are free and quite valuable for responders to emergencies. If you would like more information or have any questions, please email [email protected]. The Cancer Support Group Grandma’s Closet We need your baby stuff! As people move in and out of our community, it’s important to keep updating our Grandma’s Closet listing. Grandma’s Closet is a community listing of baby and children’s items such as cribs, strollers, play toys, etc. that you are willing to share with other homeowners. We all have family who come into town; instead of buying these items why not help someone in need. If you are willing to share or need items to be shared, please email Margie Lutz at [email protected]. Don’t forget to mention your name, phone number, the items and if you are seasonal or permanent. We thank you in advance! Sunshine Committee Many times we would be more than willing to help our neighbors if we only knew they were in need. If you know someone in our community who is ailing, or who has lost a loved one, please contact Mary Jane at 221-7160 or email [email protected]. The Cancer Support Group meets monthly to provide a forum for those who have been impacted by cancer - survivors, caregivers and anyone who would like to be involved in the fight. We offer support, information and resources, or just a few words of encouragement from “someone who has been there.” Please come to a meeting and see what we’re all about. The Cancer Support Group will meet the second Wednesday of the month at 4:00 p.m. in the Town Center. For more information, you may call Caryl Rumble at 239-390-5032 or email her at [email protected]. STOCK MARKET INVESTING CLUB Saturdays, beginning November 7 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in the Town Center Share ideas on stock trading, charts, market trends, and investing ideas. Open meeting for anyone interested in learning or sharing stock trading experiences. Each week begins with a market review of the previous week, and a view of the week ahead. Contact Dan Byrd at 301-802-2783 or [email protected] Cocktails and Conversation! Next get together is Friday, November 13th • 7:00 p.m. On the second Friday of the month, Village Walk residents come together at 7:00 p.m. at the Town Center to socialize, meet new people, and generally have fun. It’s informal, there is no agenda, and no planned activities. Just some old-fashioned conversation and sharing. We would especially like to invite all new residents so we can get to know our neighbors in this amazing community. This is a great way to meet people, find out things your neighbors have learned, and for you to learn from them as well. No need to RSVP. Just come and enjoy your fellow Village Walk neighbors for an evening of relaxation. Please bring a snack to share if you wish, what you’d like to drink, and any paper products you might need. Hope to see you there! NOVEMBER 2015 TALK OF THE WALK~ 11 CLUBS Bridge Night Group Looking to play more bridge? Can’t play during the day? This is the group for you! She quickly becomes emotionally invested in her clients’ lives, causing tension with her boss and her new husband. Set in rural Grace County, North Carolina in a time of state-mandated sterilizations and racial tension, Necessary Lies tells the story of these two young women, seemingly worlds apart, but both haunted by tragedy. If a parcel sits for 3 days, the carrier will return it to the main P.O. where it can be picked up. There are not adequate boxes, for the large volume of packages delivered during the busy season, to have items sitting for days unclaimed. •If you are to be gone for 3-30 days, please complete a MAIL HOLD FORM and turn it in. Forms are available in the lobby rack or at the window. • If you are moving or returning up North or returning here for several months, please complete the MAIL FORWARD or CHANGE OF ADDRESS FORM. Holiday Decorations Residents may begin their Holiday decorating during Thanksgiving weekend. However, the HOA asks that residents keep the following restrictions in mind when decorating their homes: •The HOA does not permit lights to be attached to palm tree trunks. Many residents do so anyway, regardless of this restriction. Staples or any other puncturing materials will damage the palm trees and may cause disease or death of the tree. Trees damaged due to installation of string lights or other holiday décor will be replaced at the resident’s expense. •Decorations placed on lawns or in beds or on trees are placed at the residents own risk: neither the HOA nor any vendors providing maintenance to the community shall be held responsible for damages to any items placed outside the unit. •Homes with decorations placed on lawns, in beds or on trees may not receive regularly performed maintenance. •All decorations must be removed on or before January 10th. 20 ~ TALK OF THE WALK NOVEMBER 2015 H .O . A . I N F O R M AT I O N • Please do not use the fitness equipment if you have just come off the tennis or bocce courts, or bring an alternate pair of shoes to change into before using the equipment. The hartru from the courts gets caught in shoe treads, and is getting into the gears and machinery, especially the treadmills, causing damage to these machines. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated by all. • Hurricane Shutters must be removed or reopened by December 1st, no exceptions. Violators who are receiving their second violation letter will received a fine for each day the shutters remain up after December 1. • Lower the pool umbrellas when leaving the pools for the day to protect them from sudden storms and high winds. • Do not ride or park bikes on the walkways of the Town Center: this will keep everyone on the walkways safe from injury and will keep the tire marks off the Town Center walls. • Trash cans and recycling bins must be stored out of sight from the streets, neighbors and common areas at the end of each pick up day. Violation carries a $25 fine per incident.
