Secrets Wedding in Paradise Package
This package is complimentary when booking at least 7 nights in the
Preferred Club Junior Suite Ocean View or higher or if 5 rooms, any
category, are booked for at least 3 nights. This package also applies
for renewal of vows ceremony.
This package includes:

• Preparation and ironing of couple’s wedding day attire

Restrictions/exclusions: Not available during Christmas and New Years Eve. Subject
to availability and double occupancy only. Taxes and gratuity included. Prices and
package subject to change without notice. This package cannot be combined with
the Secrets Wedding in Paradise Package for both to be received complimentary. To
receive the package complimentary.it is only applicable to couples staying within
three months of their wedding or staying over their anniversary date. Couple must
present a copy of their wedding invitation or marriage certificate at the time of
check-in. Package is available to all guests when purchased at the selling price.

Important Beach Location Information
We are not able to host a reception or cocktail hour on the beach. The main reason is that we are located in a federal preservation zone which protects several species
of turtles that visit and nests in our beach
Akumal in the Mayan language, means land of the turtles; this means the turtles have been returning to this bay since ancient times faithfully to the same beach each
time as they are ready to nest.
Only the females nest, and it occurs most often at night. The female crawls out of the ocean, pausing frequently as if carefully scoping out her spot. Sometimes she will
crawl out of the ocean, but for unknown reasons decide not to nest. This is a “false crawl,” and it can happen naturally or be caused by artificial lighting or the presence
of people on the beach. Most females nest at least twice during the nesting season, although individuals of some species may nest only once and others more than
ten times. Sea turtles are generally slow and awkward on land, and nesting is exhausting work.
When the Riviera Maya was born the Centro Ecologico Akumal (CEA) or Akumal Ecological Center was created to act as the protector of all ecological matters in
Akumal bay. As tourist activities started to bloom CEA needed to act as a regulatory organism to limit the operations in the bay and therefore make it more sustainable.
Some of their programs focused on taking care of the turtles, monitoring the state of the reef, water quality management and educating people to create conscience
of the ecological importance of preserving the resources of the bay. There are also regular presentations on the CEA Turtle Watch Program, with slides of the sea turtles
and a lecture about their evolution, ecology, behavior, the threats to their survival and how we can help them.
Some other hotels have joined along with CEA to the protective efforts and help the program to take care of the turtles that lay and hatch on their beaches.
Since 2015, this has become a federal law and we are not allowed to perform events on the beach or close to it during nesting season.

Shipping Procedures
Secrets Akumal highly recommends that all additional decorations
and/ or favors be brought with the couple on the plane. If it is necessary
to ship boxes prior to the couple’s arrival, we suggest using either
FEDEX or UPS and shipping everything a month and a half in advance
to ensure all boxes clear customs and arrive to the resort in time.
• Please be advised that food, animals, insects or natural flowers are not
permitted to enter Mexico.
• Label all boxes with your name and clearly specify the date you will be
arriving.
Secrets Akumal will deliver gifts to the guest’s rooms. There will be a
fee of $4.00 USD per room. A complete guest list of all guests along
with room numbers is required.
Once the boxes have been shipped, please send an e-mail to the
wedding coordinator with the following information to allow us to track
the packages:
•Bride’s name
•Shipping company •Tracking number(s)
• Number of boxes
Policy on Damages and Losses
The property does not assume responsibility for any items, personal
or professional, brought onto the resort prior to, during or after
the wedding event. These include, but are not limited to, floral
arrangements, decorations or equipment. The wedding couple is
responsible for all non-resort guests while they are on property
attending the event.

Payment Policy
Deposit Policy
A deposit is required to confirm and hold the requested wedding date. Deposit
requirements vary based on wedding package purchased. Deposit of $100.00
is required to reserve the Wedding in Paradise Package; a deposit of $500.00 is
required to reserve the Love or Ultimate Wedding Package.
This deposit can then be applied toward ceremony and/or reception
upgrades which have been purchased in addition to the wedding package.
If the wedding couple chooses not to purchase additional ceremony and/
or reception amenities, the credit can then be applied toward any room
charges upon check out, including but not limited to phone charges, spa
treatments and logo shop purchases. Any remaining credit balance will be
refunded in the form of the original payment.
Cancellation Policy
The wedding can be canceled six or more months prior to the confirmed
date without penalties. If the wedding is canceled within six months, the
non-refundable deposit will be kept as a penalty. If the wedding is canceled,
but the couple still travels as planned, the deposit can then be applied
toward any additional room charges made during their stay.
Payment Options
The entire payment must be paid in full two days prior to the wedding, after
the first meeting with the wedding coordinator. The final wedding payment
must be paid with traveler’s checks or credit card.
• Payments with traveler’s checks (American Express) require a passport.
• The following credit cards will be accepted: Visa, Mastercard
or American Express.
• Personal checks will not be accepted as a form of payment.

Legal Requirements
The following list of legal requirements are needed only for legal marriage. The
Secrets Akumal Wedding Coordinator must receive the following documents to
begin the application for marriage in the Civil Registry Office.
• Bride, Groom & four witnesses must arrive in Cancun four business days
prior (minimum) to the wedding day (Saturdays, Sundays & Holidays do
not count) with valid passports. Symbolic and non-legal ceremonies allow
flexibility for arrival date. Please speak with the wedding coordinator to
discuss requirements.
• Tourist Card (Receive these upon arrival at Cancun International Airport)
• If Bride is divorced and kept her married name on her passport, please
contact your Secrets Akumal Coordinator for more info.
•B
lood test must be taken in Mexico. To be considered valid, the test should
not be taken more than 14 days prior to the ceremony. The blood will be
tested for HIV, STD’s (sexually transmitted diseases) and blood type. The
results will be ready in 24 hours along with a certificate of the blood test
• Th
e names, addresses, nationalities, ages, occupation, relationship, copy
of a tourist card and a valid identification of the four witnesses. Wedding
Coordinator will fill out the legal form. The witnesses can be relatives,
friends or anyone who has a valid passport.
• Th
e Marriage Certificate will be provided by the judge in Spanish, your
wedding coordinator will be able to send it to translate. The process will take
approximately one month. The fee will be $80 USD +16% tax.
• The Marriage Certificate is only valid in Mexico. In order to make it legal
internationally, the Wedding Coordinator will send a copy of your License to
the Validation Process. The fee will be $70 USD +16% tax. The process will
take up to 2-6 months. Once the document is apostilled, the resort will send
all documentation to couples home address.

EW LEGAL REQUIREMENT! Special Certificate (CIR). Please send 2 months
prior the wedding scanned copies of the bride and groom’s passport
and birth certificates to request a NON marriage letter by Quintana Roo
State. This letter certifies the couple does not have a previous marriage
registered in the State of Quintana Roo. This Certification letter has an
additional fee. Please check with the wedding coordinator for details.
If someone is divorced, they must send a scanned copy of the Divorce
Decree & Birth Certificate Apostil , so the resort can send it to be translated
in Spanish by a certified translator in Mexico.
