At first glance Serfaus may simply look like a pretty Tyrolean village draped
around an almost mediterranean-style campanile. There are still lots of wonderful old wooden houses, barns and even cowsheds set in peaceful harmony
next to outstanding hotels and smart guesthouses.

Fiss offers a unique welcome to new visitors. This charming village spreads
itself out on the “Sonnenhang”, a slope blessed with sunshine. The village
centre is Rhaeto-Romanic in character, prettily spruced up and easy to get
around.

But look a little closer and you’ll find that Serfaus is unique in many different
ways. The village has its own subway, for example, which takes skiers in winter and hikers in summer to the Komperdell valley terminal. So Serfaus virtually becomes a pedestrian zone during the busy winter season, and trafficcalming measures make it a most agreeable place to stay in from spring to
autumn. During the summer Serfaus is regarded as a “Tyrolean family village”.
It genuinely deserves this accolade on account of the Murmli club for children
as well as a unique, interactive adventure path, the Murmli trail. The winter
counterpart to summer’s Murmli club is the “Kinderschneealm” located in the
heart of the Tyrol’s “ski dimension”, and probably the largest snow paradise for
children in the Alps. In the meantime the grown-ups meet at the “ski lounge”,
the most stylish location ever since the invention of apres-ski.

Fiss is proud to be called a “Tyrolean family village”. During the summer,
children in four different age groups are looked after by the Mini and Maxi club
while parents go off to pursue their holiday dreams. In winter Fiss is one of the
gateways into Tyrol’s “ski dimension” and a winter paradise for families with
children thanks to “Berta’s Kinderland”, the Sonnenburg family restaurant with
Berta’s ski TV and the many child supervisors.
LADIS - A VILLAGE FULL OF HISTORY AND STORIES
The smallest of the three villages on the high plateau answers to the pretty name
of Ladis and has been guarded by the Laudeck Castle since the 13th century. The
look of the village was first defined by the Rhaeto-Romans and can still be seen
today in the architecture of the village centre with its picturesque houses.

Although Ladis has always been rural, it was host to many nobles and aristocrats in the 17th century when the local mineral water spring made it a favourite meeting place for visitors to the health resort. In Ladis, those in search of
peace and silence, authentic surroundings, magnificent mountain views and
romance without the usual noisy goings-on or trendy fashionistas have come
to the right place.

This is a beautiful hiking area with lots of different hikes from easy to the
difficult. To find out details of the best hikes, please contact our information
offices or mountain guides.

LADIS
Laudegg Castle: originally a Roman watchtower, first mentioned in historical
records dating back to 1239.
Council house and “Gasthof Rose”: built around 1520, superbly preserved
frescoes.
Recheler house: probably the oldest painted house in the Tyrol’s Obergricht;
the walls are over a thousand years old.
Stocker house: in artistic terms one of the most important rural historical
buildings in the Tyrol. Outstandingly beautiful with extremely rare oriels
covering two floors.

service is free for all guests who are owners of the Super. Summer. Card.

Local heritage
Local costume and heritage are still anchored in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis. This is
pro¬ven by the local brass bands and rifle clubs whose beginnings go back
to the Tyrolean Wars of Liberation. These ensembles are a firm fixture at each
and eveiy festival together with the whole of the local population. Church
festivals such as Corpus Christi, Holy Days of Obligation or the Devotion to
the Sacred Heart of Jesus are always celebrated with processions. Concerts of
the brass bands of Serfaus, Fiss and Ladis take place in summer (and in
Serfaus, also in winter). Please note the details indicated on local posters and
the weekly programme. The Fiss “Blochziehen” ceremony takes place once
every four years; the children’s “Blochziehen” once eveiy two years.

Nordic walking
With a total of 20 Nordic walking tours, facilities for Nordic walking in
Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis are more diverse and varied than in any other holiday
region in the Tyrol. Some 154 km of superbly maintained and signposted
routes await visitors and holiday guests. All of the terrain on the high
pla¬teau is easy to master. Those wishing to walk at the highest levels can
take the cable cars to regions close to the peaks and enjoy exercise, peace
and quiet as well as astounding views. Introductions to Nordic walking are
offered from May to October in Serfaus and, upon request in Fiss and
throughout the year in Ladis. Details of guided Nordic walking tours are

Snowshoe hiking
Super. Summer. Card. – unique in the Alps!
Snowshoe hiking courses are offered by the Serfaus and Fiss-Ladis ski
schools. The routes in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis are marked and signposted with the
snowshoe symbol and with yellow and red signs. Snowshoe hiking maps are
available at the information offices.
Our “Super. Summer. Card.” features a superb array of benefits just for you.
With the card, visitors to Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis can enjoy the free use of 7 cable
car services, the village underground train and the hiking bus. What’s more,
you also enjoy the pleasure of several guided hikes in Serfaus, Fiss and Ladis
as well as an all-day child care, six days a week (for children aged three years
and over), together with the free use of lots of “family-friendly facilities” such
as the Adventure World Serfaus including the Murmli Water playground and
the Murmli Trail; Summer Fun Park Fiss: Berta’s air slide, a Kneipp centre and
Brezina’s Adventure Mountains - without having to pay a penny extra!
