Class of 2014
This past June, the Class of 2014 graduated amidst tears, laughter, and
the flashes of many cameras. Our 8th Grade teacher Mrs. Wilson gave
remarks about each student that highlighted their unique gifts, while
Laura Kralicky, the Timothy Award winner for the Class of 2014, told a
story that captured the heart of the West Bay environment:
BOARD OF TRUSTEES
“ One day in art class, we were drawing candy boxes. We were allowed
to eat the candy when we finished, so one student ripped open her box
of Junior Mints, pushed it to the middle of the table and said, “Let’s all
share!” More people ripped open their boxes of candy, and it became a
community candy thing. We all love each other like a family, and that’s
sort of what it’s all about. Sharing your candy with your friends, by
choice, rather than eating it all yourself.”
Congratulations to all of our graduates!

Letter from the
Headmaster
Dear West Bay
Friends and Alumni,
The end of the
school year is
always a busy time
here at West Bay,
and last year was
no exception. Between Artscape,
Field Day, the ACSI Art Festival,
Music Festival, and Track Meet,
the Family Fellowship Potluck,
and graduation activities, I think
we all were ready for a summer
break. Besides saying goodbye
to the Class of 2014, we also said
farewell to several beloved West Bay
faculty and staff: Barbara Miller,
our Librarian, Ann-Renee Gargrave,
our Music Teacher, Stephanie
Springsteen, our Spanish Teacher,
Sandi Kelley, our Business Manager,
and Amy Wilkinson, one of our
Preschool Teachers. They each left
an indelible mark on West Bay,
and we are so grateful for their
faithful service to us. We’re excited
to welcome several new faces to
the school this year, all of whom
you can learn about on the right.
As I write this letter, preparations are
being made for the start of a new
school year. Textbooks have been
sorted, the floors have been waxed,
computers have been upgraded,
and I know I speak for the entire
summer staff when I say that the
building just isn’t the same without
the hustle and bustle of West Bay’s
students. We are looking forward to
everyone’s return. We have many
exciting events coming up in the
first few months of school, including
our annual Walk for West Bay, Fall
sports, and much more. If you’re in
the area, stop by for a visit, or follow
all of the action on our website and
Facebook page.
Sincerely Yours,
Dr. Richard L. Clarkson

Family Matters
West Bay has quite the legacy! We asked a few West Bay alumni why they send their children to
West Bay. Here’s what they said:
Jackie (Lang) Jervis
My husband and I wanted our son to be in a safe place
where he could openly learn and grow, not only in his
education but also in his relationship with Christ. We also
wanted to be comfortable with where we were leaving
him during the day, fully trusting the faculty, staff and
other families. I knew wholeheartedly that WBCA was
the perfect fit because it helped mold me into the person
I am today; it has also given me lifelong friends that I
am still in close contact with. WBCA has always been a
blessing in my life, for who it helped me become and
because of how it is now helping my son grow spiritually
and academically.

I send my kids to WBCA because Christian education is
a legacy that was passed on to me from my father and
his father. I am passing it on to my children because
my wife and I believe in it. The West Bay community
not only educates the mind, it also nurtures the soul.
The teachers help form our kids into knowledgeable,
well-rounded parts of the community and teach them to
be good citizens, good friends, and Godly people. I still
see my teachers from West Bay and they still know me.
I still have good friends from West Bay and our kids are
friends. This is invaluable. This is a legacy.
