EVENT RECAP
Saturday, January 18, 2014 the DMV Honors Anwan Glover hosted by Big Tigger took place at the historic Howard
Theatre. Hundreds of attendees came out to witness Anwan ‘Big G’ Glover receive the first ever #DMVHonors for his
achievements in Music, TV, Radio, Film & Philanthropy. This was an event that DC’s GoGo and Entertainment
communities will never forget. From the moment you arrived on T St the Howard Theatre lit up the city in style, you
were greeted by the DMV Honors ice sculptor in the front of the building and when you walked through the doors…The
paparazzi was in full effect on the lavish red carpet.

The DMV Honors Anwan Glover featured a celebrity comedy roast hosted by Billy Da Kid with comedic acts such as JuJu
the Pimp, Huggy Low Down, Lazee Lamont, Eddie Bryant, Skiba, Miles of the Goodman League and others as they had
plenty of jokes about Big G from his clothes to his portrayal as a slave in 12 Years A Slave.

Official awards presenters included Donnie Simpson & Big Tigger presented the official DMV Honors; Bruce Brown
presented Big G with the Film Award; Daniel Bradley, Ronald Moten, Deborah Rowe and Tony Lewis, Jr presented him
with the Community Award; Jas Funk, Buggs, KK and other GoGo legends presented him with the GoGo Award; Tray
Chaney presented him with the TV Award; DJ Rico presented him with the Radio Award.

There were musical tributes by DaMixx Band and Backyard Band while DJ Big John provided the soundtrack for the night.
DaMixx Band got the people going as the attendees were entering the event and walking the red carpet. The Beat Ya
Feet Kings also amazed the crowd with their bounce beat footwork while paying a tribute to Big G.
Following the celebrity comedy roast and awards ceremony it was time for the moment everyone had been waiting for
all night…Big G & the Backyard Band! The band hit the stage ready to bring the house down, celebrate and give not only
Anwan a celebration but the DC family. As the entire Howard Theatre partied to Backyard, they were also graced with
the presence of DC’s own producer extraordinaire Chucky Thompson and the R&B Rockstar Raheem Devaughn as he
performed ‘Woman’ and a few other grooves, also a crowd favorite, Uptown’s own Roe. DMV Honors executed a
memorable night in DC…The celebration lasted until 3am.
