Air Force We Make a Difference Building Design Three-Bay Fighter Aircraft Maintenance Hangar Bagram Airfield, Bagram, Afghanistan Project Cost: IDIQ/Various • Complete Type I Fighter Hangar Facility and Site Design per UFC 4-211-01N • Designed to accommodate F-15 Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon, and A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft • Design incorporated the use of noncombustible materials and HVAC systems design included systems to reduce dust infiltration and carbon dioxide monitoring devices as operational cost saving measures • Independent Value Engineering study at the 35% complete stage allowed for additional technical improvements and cost saving measures to be incorporated into final design • Development of complete Design-BidBuild documents F-35A Aircraft Engine Shop Addition Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada Project Costs: $3.2M (Construction), $216K (Fee) • Provided architecture and engineering design services for a single-story high-bay area located on the flight line side of the maintenance hangar, which accommodates minor F-35A engine maintenance and provides storage for three off-airframe F-35A engine assemblies • Designed in 4 months and constructed in 8 ½ months, which was 2 ½ months ahead of schedule • Design was fully executed using Building Information Modeling Unaccompanied Enlisted Personnel Dormitory Thule Air Base, Greenland Project Costs: $13.6M (Construction), $1.1M (Fee) •Architecture •Engineering • Design includes features to protect permafrost from radiant heat of building and a super-insulated building envelope • Modular design facilitated partial pre-fabrication to enable construction during short construction window in Greenland Design-Build Child Development Center Hill Air Force Base, Utah Project Costs: $10.1M (Construction), $645K (Fee) • Site and civil engineering • Structural engineering • HVAC design • Electrical engineering • Fire protection engineering • 2011 Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) Design Award winner Airfields Special Operations Forces (SOF) Fuel Cell and Corrosion Control Hangars Cannon Air Force Base, New Mexico Project Costs: $39.1M (Construction), $1.6M (Fee) • Design included 2 independent facilities, each one incorporating a hangar bay to house a single fueled MC-130E aircraft.
