After the U19 success he headed to the US in 2003 where he would spend the next four years playing for college side Loyola Marymount. The point guard returned to Australia to play with the West Sydney Razorbacks and Sydney Spirit in the NBL and would go on to make his senior national debut at the 2009 Oceania Championships. Martin made the move the Perth Wildcats for the 2009-10 season and has enjoyed plenty of success since. He was a part of the 2010 championship winning team before 2011 saw him named in the All-NBL ㌫눟rst team and started a run of ㌫눟ve consecutive seasons where he was named the best defensive player in the competition. He is largely recognised as the best defensive player the NBL has ever seen. After ㌫눟nishing runner-up with the Wildcats in both the 2012 and 2013 seasons he helped the side to again win the title in 2014. He proved he was still one of the nation’s best backcourt players by winning the 2016 Grand Final MVP in the Wildcats 2-1 series victory over the New Zealand Breakers. Having just missed out on selection for the London 2012 Games, Martin also missed out on the 2015 Oceania Championships after being injured in the lead up to the Rio quali㌫눟cation series.
