Led Czech Under-16 and Under-17 Junior National Teams for two years before becoming head coach of the Under-20 squad for the 2010-11 season. As ice hockey player, he spent two seasons with the senior team of hometown club in 1980s, but prefered pedagogical studies after suffering serious injury. Worked as coach in Czech minor leagues since 1988, leading teams as Klatovy, Sokolov, Rokycany as well as Gmunden in Austria and Bad Reichenhall in Germany. Operated youth sportclasses program of Plzeň hockey club before joining its elite-league squad as an assistant in 2003. Took surprising playoff run as rookie head coach with the team in 2004, after eliminating regular-season champions Pardubice in quarterfinals and finishing fourth overall with the last-minute advanced squad. Resigned during the 2004-05 season and joined Lillehammer in Norway as men´s team assistant and junior squad head coach for next two years. Returned to youth program in Plzeň in 2007 and won once Czech midget-league championship title. Coach with CIHA since 2009 and showed enough courage while taking over Czech U20 Team and undergo a passage through the „Division of Death“ at the World Junior Championship, while facing medal-contenders Canada, Sweden and Russia in preliminary round of the tournament. Graduated from Palacký University in Olomouc – Faculty of Pedagogy. After the end of his active playing career, he turned to pedagogic work and Player 1981-1982 1983-1984 1985 -1988 1989-1992 1992-1994 10 youth coaching. Since 2001, he has served with occasional breaks as the chief trainer of the youth team of HC Oceláři Třinec. As assistant coach, he worked with the representative selections for U 16, and participated in the world championships with U18 in Minsk. As head coach, he led the representative selections for U19. Represented the Czech Republic at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and captured gold medal at the 2005 World Championship in Vienna. Jumped over to coaching job as director of player development with the Detroit Red Wings after being forced to finish his career due to health reasons in 2006.
