Events of the
Month!!!!
• National Heroes Breakfast with Greenville Students (3/7). Volunteer with 300 local students at this great event. You will be representing MCAS Cherry
Point and SMP (media coverage), so brief with JPAO prior to event is required. Meet at the Roadhouse at 0515; will return at 1000. Attire is service uniform
of the day. The students are very excited to meet you!
• Havelock Chamber of Commerce Spelling Bee (3/11). Help out our awesome Chamber with this fun event! Meet at the Roadhouse at 1645 in proper
civilian attire. Will return at approximately 1930.
• Camp Corral (3/22). Volunteer to help out our families with Fallen Heroes and Wounded Warriors. Food and beverages are included. Meet at the
Roadhouse at 0700 (first shift; returns at 1330) OR 1300 (second shift; returns at 1900).
• Veterans Organic Groundbreaking Ceremony (3/28). Please see/call front desk for more details. Meet at the Roadhouse at 1030 in proper civilian attire.
• Spring Multi-Cultural Festival (3/22). Volunteer with the Festival and 5K (meet at the Roadhouse at 0615) OR the Poker Run (meet at the Roadhouse at
0900). Proper civilian attire; weather appropriate for that day. Food and beverages included.
• New Bern House Senior Prom (3/27). Volunteer with our seniors during their Prom! Meet at the Roadhouse at 1645. Attire is dress blues with ribbons.
• Autocross (3/29-3/30). Assist with set-up, tear down, course operations, event monitoring (and you will get to ride with SCCA instructors). March 29
(0630-16) and/or March 30 (0630-1730).
• WWII Museum Restoration (on-going M—S; works around your schedule). Love cool history? Want to help save our WWII history?!! Learn how to restore
some of the coolest artifacts and VEHICLES from WWII at the Newport WWII Museum. POV only; please contact Frank at [email protected] to set up a
time to volunteer!
• North Carolina State Veterans Home (3/9). We will be visiting some of our Country’s most courageous veterans; NC State Veterans home is the only one of
its kind east of I-95. Attire is service uniform of the day. Meet at the Roadhouse at 1100.
• Habitat For Humanity (3/8 and 3/22): Help build a HOME with Habitat! Meet at the Roadhouse at 0715.
• Volunteer with a Veterans’ Retirement Community (3/3, 3/10, 3/17, 3/24, 3/31): Bond with Veterans and swap stories at one of our local retirement
communities. Attire is service uniform of the day please. Meet at the Roadhouse at 1630.
• Volunteer with Riverpoint Nursing Home (3/5, 3/12, 3/19, 3/26): Volunteer with our seniors! Attire is service uniform of the day please. Meet at the
Roadhouse at 1700.
• Volunteer with Courtyard Seniors’ Home (3/2 and 3/23). Volunteer with our seniors on Sundays! Attire is service uniform of the day please. Meet at the
Roadhouse at 1100.
• Animal Shelter (3/1, 3/8, 3/15, 3/22, 3/29): Volunteer at the Carteret County Animal Rescue from 0800-1200. Assist with walking the dogs, meeting with
potential adopters, special projects, and cleaning. Meet at the Roadhouse at 0700.
• Annunciation Catholic School (as your schedule allows): Many volunteer opportunities are available from mentoring students to coaching basketball
after-school. Please contact the SMP Coordinator for more information and to sign-up: [email protected].
• Volunteer Events in April and May!!! Get ready for these great opportunities: Devil Dog Open (4/25), Rotary Race (4/26), Seniors Prom (4/26), Easter Egg
Hunt (4/20), Special Olympics Spring Games (5/8), Air Show (5/16-5/18).

• Mardi Gras Party (3/4). Join SMP for a Mardi Gras Celebration!! Party kicks off at 1900.
• St. Patrick’s Day Party (3/17). Celebrate St. Patty’s Day at the Roadhouse!! Enjoy awesome music, food and beverage specials, door prizes, contests, and
prizes. DON’T “FORGET” TO WEAR GREEN ;)
• March Madness Kick-off Party (3/18). Join SMP for the March Madness Kick-off Party!! Wear your favorite jersey to qualify for awesome door prizes! See or
call the front desk a full schedule and times.
• Autocross (3/29 – 3/30). Pre-registration required online at www.motorsportsreg.com by 3/23.
- Novice School on 3/29 ($20); event from 0800-16.
- Autocross Event on 3/30. $30 for active duty; $35 for non-SCCA members . OPEN TO ALL (military, retired, dependents, DoD, and properly vetted
civilians). Event runs from 0730-1630. Volunteer opportunities available (in volunteer section above).
• UFC Fight Night!! (3/15): Check out UFC 171 World Welterweight Championship (Henricks vs Lawler) on March 15th!!! Prelims kick-off at 2000; Main fight
starts at 2200.
• SMP Council Meeting (3/20 at 1430 at the Roadhouse): ALL ARE WELCOME!!! SMP is YOUR program, so come fill us in on your recreation ideas,
volunteering ideas, and QOL concerns.
• FREE SMP Golf Clinics (every Wednesday): Have fun while learning golf fundamentals or work on your existing technique! All range balls and equipment
will be provided. Meet at the Roadhouse at 1645, or directly at the Sound of Freedom Golf Course at 1700. Clinic is one hour.
• SMP Movie Theatre: SMP has a huge selection of movies (new and unreleased!) …. Come check it out!
• GAMER TOURNAMENT (Every Tuesday Night at 1830 and 2000): Pick your favorite game. New prizes awarded! Also, if there is a game we don’t have,
please contact the front desk to request!
LADY LUCK THEME WEEK (MARCH 16 – MARCH 22):
• Casino Movie Festival (3/19): Enjoy your favorite Casino Movies including: Casino Royale, Swingers, and Ocean’s 11, 12 & 13.
• Cards and Craps Workshop (3/19 @1900). Learn techniques for Casino card games and Craps!
• SMP Lucky Night Vegas Party (3/20 at 2000). VEGAS BABY!!! Have a blast at SMP’s Lucky Night Vegas Party. We will have tons of Vegas style games and
tournaments, pool, a DJ, contests and prizes.

• Savannah St. Patrick’s Trip (3/15 – 3/17) $139: Welcome to the LARGEST St. Patrick’s celebration in the US!! Enjoy 3 days of live music, friends, hundreds of
activities, historic downtown Savannah, and FUN!! Cost of trip includes transportation, lodging, and breakfast! Deadline to register is 2/10 (deposit of
$75). Rest of trip payment due on 3/1 ($64).
• Busch Gardens Trip (3/22) $15. Enjoy Busch Gardens Theme Park with SMP!! Trip price includes transportation. Please call or see front desk on
information to download your free ticket.
• Washington DC Cherry Blossom Trip (4/4 – 4/6) $175. Check out all of the sights, Monuments, Arlington National Cemetery, and the Cherry Blossom
Festival in DC! Cost of trip includes transportation, 2 nights lodging in downtown Georgetown, and breakfast! Register by 2/17 ($75). $50 trip payments
due on 3/3 and 3/17.
• Myrtle Beach Trip (4/18 – 4/20) $115: SUN and FUN!! Enjoy 3 days and 2 nights in Myrtle Beach! Hotel is directly across the street from the hottest night
life in Myrtle Beach, clubs, live music, shopping, restaurants, Ripley’s Aquarium, miniature golfing, Wonderworks, NASCAR Speed Park, and speed boat
attractions! Deadline to register is 3/17 (deposit of $65). Rest of trip payment due on 4/1 ($50).
• Orlando Trip (4/27 – 5/3) $410: 7 days and 6 nights in awesome Orlando!! Pick where you want to go: Disney, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, Kennedy
Space Center, shopping, night life …. And much more!! Trip price includes transportation, lodging at Shades of Green, and breakfast. See/call the front
desk for more details on activities. Please register by 3/1 (deposit of $125). Payments of $97 are due on 3/15, 4/1, and 4/15($96).
• Carolina Rebellion Concert and Camping Trip (5/2 – 5/4) $155. Avenge Sevenfold, Rob Zombie, Five Finger Death Punch, Staind, Kid Rock, 311, Theory of a
Deadman, Seether, Motorhead, Black Stone Cherry, Redlight King, Fuel, Volbeat, A Day to Remember , and MANY MORE!! $155 gets you tickets to ALL
shows on Saturday and Sunday, transportation to/from Charlotte, camping and camping equipment for three days, and special VIP campground concert
on Friday night. You must provide your own sleeping bag and pillow :) Please register by 3/17 (deposit of $55). Payments of $50 are due on 4/1 and 4/15.
• SMP Caribbean Cruise (9/29 – 10/4) $525: Enjoy the trip of a lifetime with 6 days and 5 nights in the Bahamas!! Ports of call are Freeport and Nassau!! Trip
price includes transportation to/from Savannah, cruise ship lodging, all meals and non-alcoholic beverages, and all ship activities! Please register by 2/28
($75). Payments of $75 due on 3/17, 4/17, 5/16, 6/17, 7/15, and 8/15 (inside cabin). Ocean-view trip cost is $585 total.
