January - Jackson - Capital Area Human Resource Association
JANUARY 2016 Message from the President “CELEBRATING 45 YEARS!” Greetings! Let me begin by saying I consider it an honor and privilege to serve as 2016 President of the Capital Area Human Resources Association. This year CAHRA celebrates its 45 year anniversary! I am excited about the opportunity and anxious to get the new year underway! Let me also add my sincere appreciation to Shonda Kines, our out-going President, our Board, and Committees for their hard work and dedication. Shonda began our year in 2015 with one very significant word to strengthen our chapter - “Engage”. In 2016, I want to pick up her torch and continue to challenge our chapter members to “Engage”, in order to propel CAHRA forward as one of the most influential forces for Human Resources in our city and state. As I network and receive feedback from chapter members and HR professionals in our community, I consistently hear the desire for CAHRA to be a better source for building connections and relationships in the HR field. I agree, and this year in addition to offering good programs and opportunities to serve the community, I will also remain committed to furthering the development of CAHRA’s networking opportunities. After all, our members and their collective knowledge are our greatest asset. I recently attended the SHRM Volunteer Leaders’ Summit in Washington, D.C. I was inspired by the level of engagement and commitment, to the HR profession, from the thousands of volunteers that attended from around the nation. As we kick off the New Year and anticipate the many challenges and changes in our field, I encourage you to take your involvement with CAHRA to the next level and be fiercely proactive in your networking endeavors! Looking forward to serving you, Jessica Kinard, SPHR, SHRM-SCP Monthly Meeting Information Speaker: Topic: The Thursday, January 7th CAHRA meeting will be held at the Hilton Hotel located on County Line Road, Jackson, MS.
