JCL - Jewish Association for Community Living
2013 Annual Report: 30th Anniversary Edition
Jewish Association for Community Living
30th Anniversary Reception
Roots and Wings
A Celebration of 30 Years
This year’s annual report is a reflection of over 30 years back to JCL’s
beginnings; also gazing forward with hopeful anticipation to our
future. Roots symbolize foundation—keeping us strong, helping us
grow, and anchoring us deeply into our communities. Wings bring to
mind images of soaring high, with the potential for discovering new
and exciting horizons.
With that in mind, we have chosen to highlight some of those with
the vision to answer the call and the generous supporters who helped
JCL get to where we are today. We are so grateful to them all.
Ernest Hemingway, according to literary legend, was once
challenged to write a story using only six words. He contended
that the result “For sale: baby shoes, never worn.” was one of the
best pieces he’d ever written. We were intrigued by this idea so
we decided to celebrate supporters’ experiences with JCL in
six-word stories.
JCL: community active, community strong, connected forever.
That’s my six-word story. Thank you all for your generous support and
confidence in our mission. Ellen Mayer

Funding from the State of Connecticut provides JCL with
approximately 90% of the revenues needed to maintain our
operations. However, achieving the highest level of quality would
not be possible without the generous support of our friends in the
community. We are deeply grateful for your commitment to our
organization during this past year.
