Funds Raised
Are Spent In Our Community!
Research – For more than 60 years, LLS has invested
nearly $1 billion to advance cancer therapies and save
lives. Our Chapter currently funds four blood cancer
research projects in our region.
Patient Services – Our 61 chapters across the US &
Canada conduct life-enhancing patient services,
including support groups, peer counseling and co-pay
assistance. LLS also host numerous teleconferences
and Webcasts, where medical professionals share the
latest research findings.
Family Support Groups – Guided by volunteer
oncology health professionals, each group provides
information and support, and encourages greater
communication among patients, families, friends and
healthcare professionals.
First Connection – This program links newly diagnosed
patients to a peer volunteer who has experienced a
similar diagnosis. A trained patient volunteer currently in
remission phones the new participant to share
information and support.
Information Resource Center (IRC) – The IRC is a
worldwide link to information and resources useful to
patients, their families and healthcare professionals.
Information specialists are oncology social workers and
health educators who provide callers with current
information on blood cancers, treatments, clinical trials
and offer guidance on coping.
www.lls.org – LLS’s web site serves a wide variety of
education and information needs. Our Chapter’s
website, www.lls.org/wcny also features information
about local events and programs.
Advocacy – LLS volunteers and staff visit Capitol Hill
regularly to lobby Congress in support of issues that that
impact research and patient care.
THANK YOU! YOUR OUTSTANDING EFFORTS MAKE A
SIGNIFICANT IMPACT IN THE LIVES OF LOCAL PATIENTS!

those that we
have lost
during our
“Remembrance
Ceremony”.
Team members
wrote their
loved ones
name on a gold
paper balloon
and raised it
high as we all
“Remembered”
those we have
lost. We shared
a moment of
silence to pay
tribute. We
have great love
in our hearts
for those who
have passed
and we will
always
remember.
