People must register for classes unless otherwise noted. Registration and payment must be received at least five business days before class start date. Classes will be canceled if minimum enrollment has not been met five business days before class start date. Accepted payment methods are listed below. All programs are held at Fife Community Center, unless otherwise noted. Refund Policy No refunds will be issued 5 days or less prior to program start date. If you withdraw from a program/activity prior to the start date, fees paid will be placed back on users account minus a $5 service fee. Funds placed back on users account may be used in the form of a discount towards a future program/activity or may be requested as a refund. If not used within 90 days all remaining funds will be forfeited. Staff & Recreation Program Registration Mission Medical Insurance Participants in Fife PRCS programs should have their own medical insurance to cover any injuries sustained while participating in any activity sponsored by the PRCS Department. Fife PRCS is not financially responsible for medical expenses. Rainout Line (For Dacca Park Athletic Fields) If weather is questionable, please call Fife PRCS Rainout Line at 253-896-8653 to obtain program cancelation information. Inclement Weather If the Fife School District is closed due to inclement weather, all PRCS programs are canceled. Call the Community Center or Pool if you have additional questions. Photo Policy Fife PRCS staff may videotape or take photos of participants in programs and special events. Those photos may be used for promoting our classes, events, programs or to display online. The Fife Farmers Market will be held at Dacca Park, to allow kids to play, while parents peruse the market. There will be special events and live entertainment. For Skyhawks Camps you can also register online at www.skyhawks.com Summer Playground Program 10 Free Summer Playground Program This program will offer lunch and an afternoon snack made possible by USDA and Metro Parks Tacoma. This free drop-in program provides the opportunity for kids to get creative with arts & crafts, play lots of games and sports, and visit with friends. This program is not to be used to substitute Child-Care or Day-Care services! Adult recreation staff will supervise the kids during activities but is NOT responsible for keeping track of children at the program or park site for the duration of the day; kids can come and go as they please. It is solely the responsibility of the parents, legal guardians and day-care providers to supervise their children to ensure their safety. Grow some fins and a sense of wonder as we delve ever more into the secrets of our own world! 7/25-29 All-American Spectacular Tacoma Rainiers Be sure to huddle up and work as a team as we go for the camp playoffs! Aloha! Good vibes & happy tidings as we celebrate the end of summer with a camp authentic island festivity. We’ll look back on the summer and come together for the best luau Camp Fife’s ever seen! Come send off your 2016 Summer Hawiian style! 8/22-26 Tennis Camp (Ages 7-12) Youth learn proper grips, footwork, strokes, volleys, as well as the rules and etiquette that make tennis an exciting game. Camp fills quickly. Dates: 7/11-7/15 Times: 1:30-4:30 pm Cost: $115 Participant Basketball Camp (Ages 7-12) This fun, skill-intensive program is designed for beginning to intermediate athletes. An active week of passing, shooting, dribbling and rebounding. Dates: 7/18-7/22 Times: 9am-12pm Cost: $115 Participant Mini-Hawk Camp (Ages 4-6) This multi-sport camp is tailored to your child’s age and skill level while teaching life lessons such as respect and teamwork. A typical session experience includes age appropriate activities: skill demonstrations, fun games, and instructional scrimmages. Young soccer enthusiasts experience soccer fun in a safe, non-competitive environment. Twirl, twist, spin and leap your way through the sea. This camp will include a fulllength ballet class, themed crafts and game time. Each dancer will receive a tutu or wings and will take home their craft projects on the last day of class. There will be a performance on the last day, friends and families are welcome! We’ll shock your body into the next level of fitness with workouts that change each week. Using the ‘Metabolic Training’ model to maximize calorie burn and AFTER workout calorie burn while encouraging your body to gain muscle while simultaneously burning fat. All fitness levels welcome. This program gives adults 65+ on Medicare with the following supplemental health plans: AARP Medicare Complete by United Healthcare, Asuris NW Health, Group Health, Health Alliance Medicare, Humana, Premera Blue Cross, Providence Health Plan, Regence Blue Shield of Washington and Soundpath Health, access to the following classes at the Community Center for no cost. Silver Sneakers classes are available to all people 50+ for a fee. Instructor: Angela Garske Silver Sneakers Classic Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement and activities for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles and Silver Sneakers exercise balls are offered for resistance. A chair is available if needed for seated or standing support. SHIBA, (Statewide Health Insurance Benefit Advisors), is a free and unbiased Medicare counseling service provided by the WA State Office of Insurance Commissioner. Hours: Wed. 12-4:30pm Fri. 10am-4:30pm Sat 10am-2pm Call for Tours & Special Times: (253) 896-2593 Women, Infant, & Children Services (WIC) The Fife Community Center & SeaMar Community Health have joined forces to provide for pregnant women, infants and children with supplemental food and basic health care. In order to be eligible, a client must meet the income guidelines and have a medical or nutritional risk which the WIC staff will help determine. You must make an appointment in order to be seen. In the fall the baseball fields are converted to soccer fields. Amenities include a basketball court, climbing rocks, play structures, and gazebo for an array of age groups. Fountain Memorial 2001 54th Avenue The recently renovated park is named after the historic Fife fountain that resides in it. The park links Fife's other civic buildings, including the Community Center, Swim Center, and City Hall. Colburn Park 5506 20th St E Built in the mid-1990's, this park is adjacent to the Fife Swim Center. Colburn Park has a nice picnic area for families as well as swings and playground equipment. The playground is a great place to play either before or after a swim at the pool. Hylebos Nature Area 6125 8th Street East This beautiful .75 mile loop treats visitors to a wonderful nature experience. The trail winds through 24 acres of wetland area to give patrons exposure to a variety of habitats.
