* Dunaliella salina (marine algae) thrives in extreme marine environments, able
to withstand intense UV exposure as well as temperature and salinity extremes.
Considerable research has gone into what protects Dunaliella from these
extreme exposures. Two carotenoids called Phytoene and Phytofluene have
been identified as being primarily responsible for the protection. These two
unique carotenoids have been clinically shown to repair and protect through

the UVA and UVB ranges. Second, they have been clinically shown to effectively
