President’s Corner
Slip it into second gear… Summer is down around
the corner and up around the bend.
Everyone had a great time in Bowling Green for the
C5/C6 Birthday Bash. It wouldn’t be BG without a
little wet stuff, but when we needed sunshine the
clouds parted and the sun came out! Like Dave Hill
says, “God loves Corvettes…”. Sunnie got another
celebrity choice, this time from General Motors
Marketing Manager Nate Love. Drag racing was fun,
but being cold we couldn’t get any traction and was
spinning the first 30 feet… Gotta love that GM
power!
We had a good contingent from Classic Glass that
attended the Gathering VIII in Savannah. There was
a threat of hail and everyone was running for cover,
but it fortunately never appeared. About 5 of our
club members won awards for their beautiful
Corvettes.
Our Annual VetteStock @ Bogey’s was a big hit.
We broke the record attendance set last year by
having 72 Corvettes registered for the show. Also,
this year Reese Cox and MTI helped sponsor the
show and the C5 and C6 plaques. Reese also
sponsored an MTI Racing Choice award that went to
Marc Feiler of the Peach State Posse. Thanks for
your support Reese!
This past weekend several of Classic Glass members
went to the Cystic Fibrosis show put on by the PSP at
the Hooters in Hiram. Everyone had plenty of wings
and fun. There was a brief shower, but just enough to
wet the cars and then it was gone! Blue got a trophy
for the “Antique” class, she was happy until about the
time we got home… more about that later.
Quite a large crowd from Classic Glass plans on
attending the Panama City Cruise this coming
weekend going from Dothan, AL to Panama City,
FL. It should be a great weekend there and the
Classic Glass banner will be proudly waving.
Vette’s in the Valley will take place over Memorial
Day weekend in Maggie Valley, NC. It should be a
great time, be sure to support that club with their first
ever Corvette Show!
We are going to have one more planning meeting for
Super Vette Saturday. Gail Smith, our V.P. of
Activities, will be announcing the location and date
for that. We still need donations for door prizes.
Also, if anyone knows of a business that would like
to sponsor a trophy, please let us know!
We will be publishing a roster of all the volunteers
after the next planning session. If you wish to
volunteer, please get with Gail Smith and let her
know what you would like to help with. Keep in
mind; we need volunteers to help with the Sock Hop
on Friday night August 5th.
This year, we are looking to try and outdo ourselves
and have a bigger and better show than ever!
Please check the website and your email for
upcoming news on SVS.
After all…. It’s about the people who love the car!
Every day is a “Ragtop” day!

for Joe and me. The band played from 8:30 pm until 11:30
pm with just a short break. I’m thinking they will be a
great addition to our Friday Night Sock Hop.

The Gathering at Tybee Island
By Bill Gohr
Friday, April 29th, 8 club corvettes left Sidelines for
Savannah. We stopped for lunch at Buckner’s, an all you
can eat restaurant in Jackson on I-75. Three more corvettes
met us there and we caravanned the rest of the way to
Savannah. Everyone had a great outdoor seafood dinner on
the patio by the water at the Crab Shack.
Saturday, the show was held next to the lighthouse. Top 25
winners included many winners from Classic Glass
including Bill Gohr, Steve and Peggy Hodge, Bob and
Amy Slaney, Ken and Jane Tenedini and Barry and Cheryl
Tomlinson. In addition to these winners, we had 9 other
club members present.
In spite of overcast skies, we had only a few raindrops at
night. This was the 8th show in Savannah and everyone is
already looking forward to number nine next year.

Editor’s Corner
By Cindy Owens
Hello Corvette Lovers!
Do you believe we are already into May? Spring is here
and summer is around the corner. We are approaching the
193 mark in memberships and hope to reach our 200member mark by August. Do we think we can do this?
Yes, we can. Our Bogey’s show, which was a great
success, generated 5 new memberships and many more
potentials. It is always exciting to talk to the people at a
show and then they join the club.
We have some exciting events planned for the upcoming
months and for every member one of them should be on
your to do list. We have the Panama City trip coming up,
as well as our July picnic.
There is Super Vette Saturday and the Sock Hop the night
before. We still have CD’s of last year’s show if any one
would like to get one. We have mailed short versions of
this CD to the different clubs in the vicinity to generate
interest in our Sock Hop Party and SuperVette Saturday.
This year is going to be great with the “Sock Hops”
performing live. Who knows I think the “Pink Ladies” will
probably make their appearances.
We recently got to preview the “Sock Hops” at a local
dance establishment. This turned out to be a great outing
** Upcoming Event **
Saturday, June 4, 2005, we will visit the private car
collection owned by Dick Peden in Alpharetta. Ga. He has
13 or more original or top condition vehicles. All are kept
inside in a 4500 sq. ft. building on a 12-acre horse farm.
We will meet at Sidelines at 10:45 am and leave at 11:00
am. We will take GA 400 north to exit 10 and proceed to
Jones Bridge Rd. Further directions will be posted on the
web site. We will also send out a club email.
** Upcoming Event **
Saturday, September 24, 2005, we will visit the 40 – 50 car
collection of Milt Robson in Gainesville, GA. It is one of
the nicest car collections in the south. Most of his cars are
one of a kind and all are in perfect condition. We will
again join the American Dream Corvette Club of Gwinnett
County. For those who have not toured Milt Robson’s
garage this is a have to go to event. Classic Glass attended
this event about 3 years ago and were blown away by how
Classic Glass Corvette Club

nice this collection was. We also toured the main house
as a special treat. More details to follow soon.

Siblings are such fickle things. I think we finally got
Sunnie settled and happy with the new tires and
rotors. Now, Blue wants attention…
Blue had been getting a little ornery after she warmed
up and had been driven awhile. First I thought it
might be the old stock coil. I replaced that with a
brand new shiny chrome Super Coil. Then, maybe
the fuel filter was clogging up… nope, the problem
turns out to be the typical Rochester Quadrajet
demons… flooding. So, either a rebuild or a new
carburetor is in order.
We may have a new surprise on the Tequila front…
We are keeping our fingers crossed and holding our
breath, we will let everyone know as soon as we get
confirmation… The antici……..pation is killing us!
We will see you next month with more tales from the
“Busted Knuckle Garage”.

Answers on the last page
While the drivers prepare for this race, in the back of
their minds loom thoughts of Le Mans. They are
using the first 3 races of the year to get familiar and
bond with the new C6R cars. Little things like the
angle of the rear wing and weight distribution play
big parts in the success of this new car.
Be sure to check them out on CBS Sports Sunday
May 22nd. You should not be disappointed.
Good Luck Corvette Racing!!! We are all behind
you!

placed on the inside of the driver’s doorjamb to signify the
importance of this memorable occasion.
