President’s Corner
Summer is officially here!! Get out and enjoy those
beautiful cars with the top down and the wind
blowing.
Congratulations to Circle City Corvette Club on
another great outing to Panama City. I hear there was
lots of great fun and festivities that were enjoyed by
all. We are going to try and attend next years event.
We had a great time with Dick Peden at his home and
wonderful collection of classic cars. Dick had 3
Corvettes and 9 other greats while we were there.
After hearing the stories about each car, we then went
to the other stable and spent some time with their
World Class Quarter horses. There were two young
foals and a 2 year old. I am not sure which got more
attention, the cars or the horses. Goes to show you
that everyone loves horsepower, no matter what form
it takes.
Several folks braved a rather soggy start to the Top
O’ Georgia show on June 11th. By the time we got to
the top of Bald Mountain, it was really socked in with
fog. But, by the end of the show, the fog had lifted
and the weather was warming. A great lunch was
then enjoyed by several CGCC members at Han’s in
Helen.
Upcoming, we have Dyno days at MTI Racing’s
headquarters in Marietta on June 25th. Come do a
little bench racing and enjoy a hamburger or hotdog.
It should prove to be a ton of fun.
be the much-anticipated RC car races. Tune those
little racers and charge the batteries. This year, we
have both pavilions that are together and will have a
special treat of the Calvary Children’s Home joining
us for the picnic. We will have a special race for the
kids from Calvary.
The first Annual North Georgia Wine tour is going to
be July 23rd. Come enjoy the local vintage and share
some great time with your fellow club members.
I am challenging all members and our sister clubs to
pre-register for our 22nd Annual Super Vette Saturday
on Saturday August 6th. We would like to have
another great turnout for the show.
Also, we will be holding our second Annual Sock
Hop on Friday August 5th. All of those who have
pre-registered for Super Vette Saturday will have free
admittance for 2 folks to the Sock Hop. We will
have the “Sock Hops” band as live entertainment this
year. So be sure to mark your calendars.
We will be holding our last Super Vette Saturday
planning meeting soon, please keep a lookout for the
email indicating place and time. All volunteers are
urged to attend.
If you have any questions about volunteering for
Super Vette Saturday, give me a call.
After all…. It’s about the people who love the car!
Every day is a “Ragtop” day!
Peach State Corvette Association is having their
annual show at the Varsity downtown. Please come
out and show CGCC support for their club.
We will be having the Annual Picnic at Cooper’s
Furnace in Acworth on July 9th. Again this year will

Hello Corvette Lovers!
As many of you now know we are taking delivery of our
C6 “Tequila”. She will be here within the week. I don’t
really know who is more excited about finally getting her,
Joe or me. Personally I’m looking forward to something
new but still familiar. I’m sure that Joe has his own plans.
Chrome this, chrome that.
I would also like to thank the Blue Ridge Corvette Club of
North Georgia for putting on a great show even though the
weather did not cooperate. The show raised money for
both the Corvette Museum and the National Forestry
Service.
Remember June 24 is “Drive Your Corvette to Work” day.
So let’s all show our support for this special day.
The Annual Picnic at Cooper’s Furnace is July 9th and our
Remote Control Races will be a hot topic this year. We
will have several trophies to be awarded including some for
the kids from Calvary Children’s Home. We will have
Williamson Brothers Barbeque again. Everyone seemed
happy with this last year.
We have finally announced the date of “Tequila’s First
Annual Wine Trail Tour”. It will be her inaugural caravan
Sunday, June 25, Peach State Corvettes will be hosting a
show at the Varsity downtown. This show will benefit
Southwest Christian Hospice, Hope House, and Feed My
Lambs. Registration Fee is $20. Classic Glassers will meet
at Sidelines at 8:30 am and leave at 8:45 am to caravan to
the Varsity Downtown.
** Special Event **
Have you ever wanted to say “you remember that time at
camp?”. Well now you can. Johnny O’Connell will be
holding his inaugural Corvette Camp on September 17 &
18. You will have the opportunity to see what you and
your Corvette can do on a race track with the emphasis on
speed, fun and safety. For more information see
www.corvettecamp.com.
** Upcoming Event **
Saturday, September 24, 2005, we will visit the 40 – 50 car
collection of Milt Robson in Gainesville, GA. It is one of
the nicest car collections in the south. Most of his cars are
one of a kind and all are in perfect condition. We will
again join the American Dream Corvette Club of Gwinnett

County. For those who have not toured Milt Robson’s
garage this is a have to go to event. Classic Glass attended
this event about 3 years ago and were blown away by how
nice this collection was. We also toured the main house
as a special treat. More details to follow soon.
** Special Cruise In Event **
We have been informed that on the 1st Saturday of every
month there is a Breakfast Cruise In at the Avenues in East
Cobb. This is on Roswell Rd off of Johnson Ferry Rd.
We will get more details on this and add it to the Web Page
under Cruise Ins.
As the Steering Wheel Turns…
The 64 car driven by Gavin-Beretta-Magnussen
finished 1st in GT1 and 5th overall. The 63 car driven
by O’Connell-Fellows-Papis finished 2nd in GT1 and
6th overall. This was an extremely great outing since
the only cars in front of us were Prototype’s!!!
I have sent congratulations to Gary Claudio and the
rest of the Team Corvette on their win at Le Mans
and we look forward to seeing more wonderful things
from them.
Good Luck Corvette Racing!!! We are all behind
you!

FINALLY!!! We announced at the June meeting that
we would be taking delivery of “Tequila” on Friday
June 24th. We will be arriving at 07:45 CST
(Corvette Standard Time) for our big event. There
will be a private, behind the scenes, tour of the
Bowling Green Assembly Plant. A private tour of
the National Corvette Museum and pictures of us
with the new baby. Please join us by checking the
live webcams at:
www.corvettemuseum.com/webcam/index.shtml.
I have new chrome wheels coming from West Coast
Corvettes and a Speed Lingerie color matched bra
and mirror covers waiting at the museum. This is the
beginning of Tequila’s transformation from just
another “pretty girl” to Gorgeous!

Blue has really pitched a fit… I rebuilt the carburetor
and it appears the top plate is warped. I will be
ordering a NEW Edelbrock 4 BBL carb and all of the
associated fuel lines and the like to get her back on
the road again.
If you have a Corvette for sale, we will put it into the

Corvette Racing Update

Corvette Racing
All I can say is Oh My Gosh!!! What a great race at
Le Mans this past weekend. The Aston Martin’s
gave us a good challenge, but in the end it wasn’t
about how fast you can go, it was more like how long
you can go without falling apart.
With the exception of two cut tires, the new C6R
performed flawlessly! Once the boys in yellow took
the lead, they never looked back.
1. ZR1’s came with a key-operated switch that was used to
cur the power output in the car to 250-HP. This was
designed to deter joy-riding thieves. True or False
2. The first roller valve lifters in the Corvette was in 1987.
True or False
3. 1974 was the first year the hatchback was offered in the
Corvette. True or False
