This will be voted on during the Business Meeting on Sunday, December 2nd. Prior to the vote, budget managers will be available to answer any questions in the Prayer Room from 4:30-5:45pm. Charlotte Digges “Lottie” Moon was forced to return to America after serving in China because she had stopped eating and weighed only 50 pounds. Lottie had given her food to others because of the famine in China. Lottie died on the ship in the port of Kobe, Japan. During the evening service on December 2nd we will have the Deacon Ordination of Jeff Murray. As we emphasize and pray for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, we must remember her life of sacrifice and pray about what we will give personally to the offering. Our church goal is $30,000. Prayer Ministry As the offering is collected, each “candle” will represent $300. When all 100 candles fill the board in the vestibule the goal will be met. Anyone interested in joining the Prayer Ministry at 8:30 or 11:00am on Sunday Mornings to pray over the Worship Service please contact Iris Matthews. Welcome New Church Member Lori Bringle Christmas Card Distribution Thank You Church Family Thank you so much for the visits, phone calls and cards during my recent hospital stay and recovery time at home. We appreciate all the prayers and concern for us. It meant so very much to me. God bless you all. ~ Leslie Harrison Christmas Card Distribution will begin December 2nd. Volunteers will be at the table Sundays and Wednesdays in the lobby to receive and distribute your Christmas Cards. A minimum of 10 cents per card will be accepted at the time the cards are received. Checks can be made to Parkwood Baptist Church. The monies collected will help us meet our goal for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Volunteers are needed to make this happen. Sign up at the Welcome Center and a committee member will contact you. WOM Evening Group Meeting Updates Bingo at Five Oaks on November 27th. December meeting on December 6th at 6:30pm at Inez Easley’s Home. Wanna meet at church? Contact Donna Rodgers. Prayer Shawl Ministry Care and the love of crocheting that Judy Cline has is in each prayer shawl. As she lives in an Assisted Living she is able to reach out to those in need of comfort and solace. We can continue this mission by passing these shawls along to those that are in need of comfort and prayer. These are available to ANYONE in the church. The shawls are located near the library beside of the elevator in a closet. Obtain the shawl, pray over it with two or more individuals. You may want to include a card with the shawl. For more information contact Doris Deaton, Crystal Martin, or Donna Rodgers. Operation Christmas Child We will be taking a trip to work at the Processing Center on Monday, December 3rd. Leave the church at 9am. Sign up at the display table in the Welcome Center. Christmas Caroling Thursday, December 6 Leave the church at 10am Sign up at the Welcome Center. Bible Drill Scholarship Opportunity This college scholarship is called the “Barean Scholarship” after the verse Acts 17:11. All 10th, 11th, and 12th grade youth are eligible. The requirement is that the student must compete in the High School Bible Drill and earn enough points at the regional drill to be considered a “State Winner” as determined by the BSCNC Bible Drill standards for that year. Each year the youth earns such a designation, $500 is credited to that student. The scholarship will be awarded to the students on Graduate Recognition Day of their Senior year. Christmas Dinner Theatre Friday, December 14 from 7:00-8:30pm, doors open at 6:30 We are really excited about the PBYouth Christmas Dinner Theatre! This is a totally redesigned dinner theatre event this year. The PBYouth Drama Ministry is glad to present “Between the Giants” A Christmas Play by Rebecca Wimmer. We are always looking for coaches, refs, score keepers, concessions help, and so much more. If you are a coach, please save one of the two dates for a very important coaches meeting, November 27th OR November 29th. Please be sure to attend one of these meetings as new information will be gone over for this season. Coaches will be contacting players in December with practice dates and times. Practices begin the week of December 10th. Games begin Saturday, January 5th. The Awards Celebration will be held at Pitts Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 26th. Lunch Buddies The Children’s Ministry is partnering with Winecoff Elementary School to start up a new program called “Lunch Buddies.” Adult volunteers are paired with children to act as role models and friends. Volunteer packets and more information can be found online at pbkids.com, see Volunteer section, and also outside Pastor Steward’s office. Preschool Worship Would you like to be a Preschool Worship Leader for our 3-5 year old children? There are openings for the 2012-2013 school year. The commitment is for every Sunday morning from 10:40am-end of 11am service for one month. The curriculum is easy to follow and uses engaging activities to introduce preschool children to God.
