About the Expo
GoBake are proud to present New Zealand’s first ever The Great GoBake Cake Expo. We are pleased
to have this included as part of the New Zealand Scrapbooking, Craft & Cake Expo (SENZ) 2014.
SENZ has been part of the crafting calendar in NZ since 2003 and it brings together Cardmakers, Scrapbookers,
Stampers, Mixed Media Artists, Knitters, Beaders, Quilters and now Cake Decorators... of all ages, for a weekend of
shopping, competitions, demos, classes, displays and socialising.

About Trish Woodward
GoBake’s founding Cake Expert; Trish Woodward joined the GoBake team in 2011. Trish helps develop GoBake
products, classes & demonstrations. Over 2,500 people have experienced a GoBake cake decorating class and
thousands more have watched & learned from our free demonstrations!
Trish Woodward has a long history working in kitchens as head chef and pastry chef. She discovered her love and
passion for cake decorating many years ago and it has become both a passion and obsession. Trish loves inspiring
and educating New Zealand with the newest Cake Decorating techniques from New Zealand and around the World.
About Petra New
A trained nutritionist, Petra New qualified as a chef in 1989 and worked her way around the world, soaking up the
flavours of each country she spent time in. Career highlights include her time as the Mayor of Edinburgh’s personal
chef and as part of a catering team for the Queen’s garden tea parties at Holyrood Palace. Petra has worked in
Auckland restaurants Hammerheads, Iguaçu, Halo and One Tree Grill.
Now the mother of two energetic boys, she owns a boutique catering company, creates special occasion cakes, tutors
at the Auckland Seafood School and is a Cake Specialist Account Manager & Instructor at GoBake. Petra’s food
philosophy is all about creating modern, uncomplicated and innovative cuisine, using fresh, local and seasonal
ingredients.
About Paul Mills
Paul Mills is one of the founders of Flexi Paste! Paul’s passion and creative bearing on building
businesses and growing networks has seen him build many successful companies. Paul now teaches
Cake Decorating at Kitchenware Plus in Queensland, Australia. Learn the latest techniques using Flexi Paste, a
ground breaking cake decorating product being exclusively launched in New Zealand at The Great Cake Expo 2014!
Paul Mills qualified as a Chef under the supervision of City & Guilds of London Institute. Paul's Hospitality career has
taken him to many parts of the globe with the highlight working back in London at the prestigious 5 Star Hotel
Quaglino's of St James's Square. Paul’s cake decorating took off in 2009 when Paul became a WMI (Wilton Method
Instructor). This interest has been growing and today’s passion is demonstrated by the complete exhilaration he
receives from seeing what his students achieve.
Paul travelled back to NEC in Birmingham in 2011 (one of the largest cake shows in the world) and also worked under
Marilyn Hill – President of the British Sugar Guild. Paul owns a Cake Decorating School in Queensland, Australia
where his personal friends such as Alan Dunn and Frances McNaughton have been brought from the UK to Teach in
his school.
On reflection Paul uses cake decorating as a calming release from everyday life running many businesses’ including
being co-owner of Flexi Paste!!!!!
What is Flexi Paste?
The Answer: A magic powder. In reality the properties are truly magical, the word flexi was chosen with great
care and deliberation. In all its facets of existence that is the one word that is key FLEXI, so flexible it defies
the laws of chemistry. Is it 1 product or 10, in fact it’s many. As the standard recipe of mix is followed, the
properties of a traditional flower paste are apparent. But when you add more liquid, which could be water it will
turn into something different. A wet mix can be flavoured and coloured to your heart’s desire and then applied
to a silicone mould where the most intricate lace work could be created or simple moulded shapes.
When can you add water to chocolate? You can’t!! But in conjunction with Flexipaste powder you can. So in
essence another product is born, a paste that evolves into chocolate flower paste, a paste that can be rolled
so thin and be so stable but it is still chocolate in its origin, it defies chemistry! And again more water or liquid
can be added and you can make chocolate lace work to die for.
