Six-spindle turning machines for modern
large-scale production.
With the GM series, GILDEMEISTER Italiana has developed a product line that combines the
full technological expertise of Europe's largest manufacturer of six-spindle automatic lathes
into one machine concept. It was done so successfully and developed so intuitively that multispindle turning machines remain the most economical for large-scale turned parts production,
not least because powerful, electrically-controlled AC drives significantly reduce cycle times.
The GM series offers benefits other than economic efficiency, for example, a high degree
of flexibility, which allows simple and complex turned parts with an outside diameter of up to
25 mm, to be machined in medium batch sizes. As option, up to four CNC compound slides
are used for internal and external contour turning or for thread cutting. A machine range
designed for highest precision results.

for small diameters.
Commercial success is only possible through economical production. GM 16|6 multi-spindle
automatic lathes maximise precision in the diameter range below 16 mm. Short travels and
high speeds – the six-spindle machine is not only highly productive, but is also very flexible
in its field of application.
Whether it is high-speed drilling, reaming or thread cutting, synchronous or long part
turning – a universal front-working slide with integrated tool drive not only allows a number
of machining options, but also eliminates additional investments. It is no longer necessary
to pay for additional special equipment or their installation costs. Shorter set-up times,
a higher degree of operating convenience and more precise results – GM 16|6 automatic
lathes optimise production processes through progressive technology.

for increased productivity.
Increased productivity, perfect ergonomics, high precision and flexibility – GM 16|6
turning machines feature technology that does great things on the small diameter scale.
Highly dynamic AC motors delivering infinitely variable speeds and feeds reduce
com­ponent production times as well as non-productive times by increasing the efficiency
of rapid traverses. Maximum flexibility is possible through independent set-up of slide
traverses and opening and closing of the collets with simultaneous material feed at all
stations. An inte­grated quick-change system guarantees short set-up times. In order
to be able to provide ideal conditions for high precision production, the design of the
automatic lathe is based on a Monoblock with impressive thermal properties.

GM 20|6 multispindle automatic lathes are the best-selling six-spindle automatic turning
machines at GILDEMEISTER Italiana. More than 4,000 have been sold all over the world.
This success is largely attributable to the high reliability of the machines.
The sales success also shows that the technology of the GM 20|6 automatic lathes
is at the highest performance level in this machine class, a fact which is of particular
advantage to the user. Thanks to the high degree of flexibility, it is possible to econom­­
ically produce medium batch sizes in short cycle times with this six-spindle machine.

thanks to sophisticated technology.
The technical configuration of the GM series has been improved for its application to the
GM 20|6 turning machines. Compared to the GM 16|6, these machines provide even more
ways to optimise processes and systematically boost productivity with their flexibility and
precision.
In line with the larger diameter range, the AC motors achieve speeds of up to 5,000 rpm
and higher cutting power. Additionally, the built-in thread-cutting drive and four optional
CNC compound slides for cross or longitudinal turning provide more machining options.
This ultimate flexibility in no way compromises the precision of these automatic turning
machines. On the contrary, the positioning precision of the spindle drum is in the µm range.
