Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library PROGRAM GUIDE January-April 2016 Children’s Programs, Series and Storytimes Children’s Storytimes Children’s Storytimes Each storytime program is full of entertaining, age-appropriate stories and activities that encourage literacy development and help your child prepare to be a skilled reader. Caregivers attend with children for all storytimes. Registration begins January 11. (Grades K-5). Saturdays, Jan 9, Feb 13, Mar 12, Apr 9 9:30 or 10 am (Choose one session) Eastlake Book Buddies & Book Buddy Helpers Book Buddies: Students entering second, third and fourth grades are invited to team up with an older student to work on building better reading skills through reading aloud, activities and games. Book Buddy Helpers: Students in grades 6-12 are invited to team up with a younger student to help them build better reading skills through reading aloud, activities and games. Registration begins January 11. Program runs January 25-March 17. Wednesdays 7-8 pm Willoughby Homeschool Art Adventures Each month we will learn about an artist or art technique and then create our own works in that style. Dress for making a mess! (Ages 5 and up). Program runs April 4-28. Mon Jan 18 2-3 pm Willowick Race Into Space with The Children’s Museum of Cleveland Discover how the universe and our solar system were made by simulating the Big Bang Theory with balloons, role-play a model of our solar system with inflatables and design your own planet to take home. (Ages 3-5). Mon Apr 18 6:30 pm Willoughby Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon & Trading Card Game Card Night Bring your friends and your common MtG, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, WoW cards to the Willoughby Library. Tue Apr 19 6-7:30 pm Willoughby Hills Dinosaur Dig What is a paleontologist? Help your child find out. A story/discussion using dinosaur props will open the session. Hands-on activities will follow including the use of real tools to hunt for fossils in a sand tub, identifying types of dinosaurs, exploring various animal bones and making fossils with clay to take home. Tue Jan 12 2-3:30 pm Willoughby Hills Photo Editing 101 In this hands-on workshop, we'll cover the basics of image editing such as cropping, resizing and rotating digital images using Pixlr Express. Computers will be provided. Basic computer skills are required. Thu Jan 28 6-8 pm Willoughby Navigating Windows 10 Learn how to navigate the new Windows 10 operating system. The program will explore the basics such as editing text, inserting photos and adjusting spacing and page layout. This class is hands-on. Computers are provided. Wed Feb 24 2-3:30 pm Willoughby Technology Classes Computer Basics II Learn about how the computer stores information and software. Computer Basics I required. Thu Feb 25 7 pm Willoughby Office 2013: Intermediate Word Learn about additional tools available in Word 2013 and how to customize your document layout using tables, columns, headers & footers.
