EXPLENDID NATURE
Popular art, gastronomy and festivities of each town give a special
color to Chiapas; some of the most important representations
that attract the locals and the foreigners alike are: The extraordinary
Chamula Carnaval, the colorful and magic Big Festivitie of Chiapa
de Corso (Fiesta Grande de Chiapa de Corzo) and the Zoque Coiteco
Carnaval; festivities that together can seduce the tourists and invite
them to get involved in the traditions of Chiapas.
For all those who look for contact with nature and other faces of Chiapas,
nothing is better than traveling along the Chiapas coastline. For more than
200 kilometers (around 125 miles), in Chiapas the sea creates a straight line
of beaches cut off suddenly by the bocabarras, mouths of the streams with
the open ocean.
The complex geography of Chiapas provides a variety on the landscapes:
lakes, caves that invite you to get inside the earth, the impulsive rivers,
mountains and smoky volcanos. More than 10 percent of the Chiapas
territory is formed by national parks and Ecological reserves.
WAY OF THE COFFEE
Chiapas puts together a lot of old treasures and remains that emphasize
the traditions in every corner and that stay with each of its visitors by
trying some of the sacred grains or for some people, the gold grains.
The way of the coffee in the Soconusco area of Chiapas, is one of the
greatest experiences of alternative tourism in Mexico.
We invite you to know the Way of the Coffee. Located at the foot
of the Tacaná Volcano where the voyager can travel the ways of
the forest vegetation to find old coffee plantations. Some of the
most important are Argovia, Hamburgo and Irlanda, which have
installations for the attention of the tourists. Don’t forgetting the
plantations of La Chiripa, Santo Domingo and San Francisco that

ARCHEOLOGY
In Chiapas there are seven archeological zones open to the public. Six of
them are part of the Mayan culture. Here it is possible to learn about the
Mayan culture from the very beginning until these days. The diversity that
characterizes the region is manifested also in its prehistoric cultures. Besides
the splendor of the Mayan lords of the jungle, the voyager finds the influence
of the Olmec culture, the trace of the classic Zoques and the new ones going
thtough the time of the people from Chiapas.Touring Chiapas is following
the ways of a sacred geography, from Palenque, Bonampak, Yaxchilán, Tenam
Puente, Toniná, Chincultik; to Izapa.
Some examples of these are the National Park of Cañón del Sumidero, Miguel
Álvarez del Toro Zoo, the Resere of the Biosphere Jungle El Ocote, Reserve
of the Biosphere La Sepultura, Reserve of the Biosphere El Triunfo, Belgica
Lagoon, Reserve of the Biosphere Montes Azules. Examples of the greatest
of the water are the Agua Azul Waterfalls, Montebello Lagoons, Miramar
Lagoon, Catazajá Lagoon, Colon Lakes or El Lagartero, Laguna Verde de
Coapilla, Misoljá, Las Golondrinas, El Chorreadero, El Chiflón, Velo de Novia
and El Aguacero.
MAGIC TOWNS (PUEBLOS MÁGICOS)
