 Dear Monomoy Parents and Guardians: Today’s tragic shooting in a Connecticut elementary school has left us all heartbroken for the lost children and educators. Our concern goes out to their families and friends. The Monomoy Schools will provide counseling for our students as we respond to the emotional impact of this violent event. Please contact your school if you would like to request support for your child. To help you in discussing this situation with your children, I have attached to this message guidelines from the National Association of School Psychologists, “Talking to Children about Violence: Tips for Parents and Teachers.” Please be assured that both Chatham and Harwich schools have well-­‐established safety protocols, and we will continue to work with public safety personnel in both towns to improve our procedures and ensure that our schools are safe places for children to learn and grow.
