We had a productive year and it takes a certain synergy for it all to come together, Thank You. And finally I would like wish our members and their family a happy holiday season and a New Year filled with health and prosperity, don’t forget warm golfing days are not far off. THE FAIRWAY REVIEW John Johanson, Superintendent It is amazing how the time flies. It seems like only yesterday that I was hired for the job of head greens keeper at the club. But I am finishing up my 3rd season already. I would like to reflect on some of the changes we have been a part of here. In 2009 we began the process of bringing the course back. We were able to repair some problems with the irrigation system to get the course greener and healthier. We began to restore the greens to health and playability. We began the ongoing process of taming the Russian thistle in the roughs. In 2010 we built a par 5 that is beautiful and challenging as well as making progress in the consistency of the greens and fairways. In 2011 we were able to emerge from a harsh winter to provide our best conditions during my tenure here. We tackled the tree program in earnest, planting, pruning and spraying for insects. We replaced the broken and missing benches on the course. We made strides in the landscape beautification program around our clubhouse and cleaned up some of the out of play areas. We have strived to keep a clean, consistently manicured course for your enjoyment at all times. It is a credit to my excellent crew, friends in the industry, fellow department heads and our great ownership team. We are already planning for more improvements next year to keep your experience interesting and reward your investment in quality golf. As always I am fortunate to be involved with this great club. I am wishing you all a great holiday season and an early spring. John The Pillar Rock Grill Staff and the Business Office would like to wish the Members and their families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! From time to time, you’ll find super deals “on-line”, or at a golf superstore. But supporting your local golf shop benefits both you and your community in ways those other guys won’t. Before your next golf purchase, here are some things to think about: 1) Local taxes we pay improve your community—schools, fire/police protection, streets, parks, and more. 2) Small businesses, like us, contribute far more in support of local charities and non-profits. 3) Our business provides quality jobs for the local employment base, encouraging a prospering community which in turn helps all of us who live here. 4) Your support makes it easier to retain quality employees to serve you better. 5) We participate with local civic organizations in building our community. 6) Golf shop revenues play a contributing role in keeping your golf course in tip-top condition. So, next time you’re in the market for golf gear, our membership’s patronage benefits your club, your staff, and your community! december2011 Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat 1 2 Limited seating Need to call For reservations 4 5 6 closed 11 12 13 7 One day only Open house sale Golf Shop 4pm-7pm 8 14 15 16 No dinner service Booked parties 17 No dinner service Booked parties 22 23 24 closed 18 20 21 9 No dinner service Booked parties Ladies Division Christmas Party 19 3 Limited seating Need to call For reservations closed 10 Limited seating Need to call For reservations Pillar Rock Grill Closes at 2:00pm Christmas Eve 25 Merry Christmas Closed 26 closed 27 28 29 31 30 Pre New Years Eve Party New Years Eve Dance to DimeStore Prophets Wedding reception
