SCCH Board Member Tanja Vainio ABB Kft. SCCH Board Member T HE SWEDISH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN HUNGARY THE SWEDISH CHAMBER OF COMMERCE IN HUNGARY was established in Budapest in 1995. The general purpose of the Chamber is to promote and contribute to the development of trade relations, business relations, business related initiatives and activities between Hungary and Sweden, and to support the business interests of its members. The SCCH MISSION STATEMENT remains current and valid: to support mutual co-operation and friendship between Hungary and Sweden and to encourage trade investments and economic developments. The current MISSION STATEMENT of the SCCH is to promote our members’ activities, to support economic, commercial and academic exchange and business initiatives between Hungary and The Kingdom of Sweden, to facilitate the transfer of knowhow, as well furthering our members’ business interest, and professional developments in Hungary through social, economic or special events, study tours, press events in order to help them to expand, and remain financially stable and prosperous. As best expressed by Tibor Kertész,the former Chairman and first President of the SCCH: “Our task is to support mutual co-operation and friendship between Hungary and Sweden, to encourage trade investments and economic developments and to help our members monitor, understand and influence events within the Hungarian business community as the new economy takes shape in the country.” As part of this mission, the Chamber also founded a Raoul Wallenberg School Foundation promoting the legacy of Raoul Wallenberg in the Hungarian society, organizing student exchange programs to Sweden and providing material and financial support to the RW School year per year. W HY JOIN? Member companies of the SCCH can strengthen their reputation and status experts in their field by emphasizing their Swedish origin. They can easily identify themselves with the Swedish values such as high quality, sustainability and human focused approach resulting in better acceptance on the market. W HAT DOES THE CHAMBER OFFER YOU? • It collectively acts in the name of its members in relation with Hungarian authorities in order to promote and assist Swedish business interests. • It provides relevant information to its members through specific studies and through regular news-letters. • It initiates, organizes and coordinates programs and business events with invited guest speakers. • It co-operates with other Chambers of Commerce in areas of common interest. (In 1999 the Chamber became a member of “EU-Chambers of Commerce in Hungary”.) • It is a forum for the establishment and development of professional and social contacts between its members, both companies and individuals. At the discretion of the Chamber Management Board, any organization or natural person who shows a clear association to or interest in the development of trade and business between Sweden and Hungary and the realization of the Chamber’s purposes and aims can be admitted as a member. T HE GRAN PRIZE The Gran Prize is an annual prize awarded for outstandingly innovative solutions in response to the most pressing issues of our planet, in the field of environmental protection, sustainable development, design, medicine, health preservation and development and education. The Prize was officially established on 12th of December 2012 by the SCCH. The prize can be awarded to private persons, groups, companies, associations, organizations, institutions, students or student teams as decided by the judging panel of the Gran Prize. The Gran Prize judging panel consists of leading authorities, scientists and media representatives. The Board of Directors also decided to ensure the highest quality throughout the process of the Gran Prize initiative, including the choice of professional partners and the judging panel. As publically announced by SCCH to the press the Chamber set aside HUF 5 million from its capital to finance this innovative prize from the annually accrued interest, and it will invite other progressive decision makers and private individuals to participate with their sponsorship. T HE GRAN GALA The Award Giving Ceremony Gran Gala is annually held in May. W INE TOUR Since the establishment of the SCCH, the SCCH Wine Tour is organized annually for wine lovers to visit passionate and highly professional wine makers from different regions of Hungary. S CCH GOLF TOURNAMENT, CHAMPIONSHIP The SCCH Golf Tournament is held every autumn since 1995 for SCCH Members, Partners and Friends. This is where the SCCH Golf Tournament Challenge Cup finds its owner. Cecilia Larsson/imagebank.sweden.se L UCIA DAY CELEBRATION The Lucia Day Celebration takes part on the 13th of December every year. Known also as the “Saint Lucy’s Day” it is celebrated in most parts of Scandinavia. The long-standing traditions of Swedish historical songs sung by a Lucia Day choir plays a central role in the program. Traditional Swedish dishes and drinks are presented slightly differently, in the style of modern Swedish cuisine appreciated all around the world, and with the valuable assistance of the chef of the Swedish Ambassador. Our cultural program is both entertaining and filled with the principal message of Lucia and Light. Our Chamber is proud of this Gala and aims to enhance the spiritual message of the Celebration.
