OUR TEAM GROWS
TO KEEP PACE WITH BUSINESS
It is fantastic to be able to announce new appointments across the whole of TCH JCB. After years
of challenging conditions in the construction sector from 2008 we have experienced spectacular
business growth over the last 18 months and to manage our organic growth we’ve taken on a
number of new people including:
Chris Sellors, New Group Parts Manager
We welcomed Chris Sellors to the team in
November. Joining us from furniture retailer,
DFS, Chris will take up his position as Group
Parts Manager on 1st Jan; taking over from Rob
Virr who has transferred to our Leeds depot.
WELCOME
Welcome to the winter edition of
TCH JCB Backchat. The year is
almost over, but what a year it was.
Since we sent you our last newsletter
the construction market has been
exceptionally buoyant and the UK is
now the fastest growing market for
JCB globally.
Our own activity reflects this and it’s
very pleasing to report that equipment
sales are thriving. The autumn
forecasts from the Construction
Products Association are also upbeat
and estimate a construction output
growth of 4.8% in 2014 and an even
more impressive 5.3% in 2015.
The recent announcements by the
Government of further investment
to the tune of £15 billion in to road
infrastructure bodes well for all of us
and the lion’s share of the spend –
some £2.3 billion – is to be directed to
the road network in Yorkshire and the
North East; a great benefit to this area.
We wish everyone a busy last few
weeks of trading for 2014 before a
well-earned festive break and we look
forward to working with you all in
what may well turn out to be a very
busy and exciting 2015.
Robert Wilson
Joint Group Managing Director
Chris is currently learning the ropes at Head
Office and will be responsible for developing the
activities and profitability of all parts departments
within TCH JCB and leading the parts teams
across the depots.
Parts & Service teams expanded
Our Lincoln and Leeds depots have also both
recently welcomed new people to their team.
Martin Lynes joins us from outside the industry
whilst Rob Virr has moved across from HQ. Both
will manage the day to day demand for genuine
JCB parts which is growing in line with the upturn
in business across all sections of the business.
Martin re- joined the TCH JCB team in October.
Having previously worked in our service
department he left a few years ago to join a
contracting company working on the London
Olympics site. After the games he had a spell in
the NHS as part of the maintenance team.
When a new opportunity arose in the Lincoln
depot, Martin, who lives just 2 miles away,
jumped at the chance to come back on board. In
his new role as Assistant Manager he has already
hit the ground running thanks to his previous inhouse experience.
Rob has relocated from our HQ in Chapeltown,
Sheffield to our Birstall branch in Leeds which is
much closer to home and will significantly reduce
his travel time. As Parts Supervisor Rob will
apply the knowledge gained during his 16 years
as Group Parts Manager, a role he relinquished
so that he could see out his career in a less
demanding role enabling him to spend more
time with his family.
TRAINING
THE TRAINERS
The continuous professional development of all our employees here at TCH JCB is something that sets us apart from other employers. Access to
training is available to all staff; much of which is conducted at JCB’s own world-class training centre close to the Staffordshire HQ.
Two of our staff have recently undertaken
‘Train the Trainer’ qualifications to enable
them to carry out their own training sessions in
our workshops. Sam Dixon and Kieren Town,
both of whom work within the Chapeltown
depot, have qualified as instructors and are
now trained and certified to deliver the
introductory courses on Loadalls, Backhoes
and JS Range of machines to our engineers.
NEW! TCH JCB WEBSITE
GOES LIVE
We’ve overhauled our website and we
hope you like the result.
The new site is both easy to use and simple to
navigate and is full of relevant information for
customers. For example, our used equipment
pages are fully searchable by model or machine
type whilst our comprehensive new machine
section is supported with videos and MRRP’s
where available. It’s now super easy to order
parts from us on our parts ordering pages and
you can check availability 24/7 to make sure we
have what you need, when you need it. We are
currently collating customer testimonials and if
you would like to submit yours then we’d be
pleased to hear from you.
PLEASE TAKE TIME TO HAVE A LOOK ON:

GOLF CLUB PROJECT
Derbyshire based JC Balls & Sons has grown to become the number 1 plant hire and contracting business in the East Midlands. A long term, loyal user of JCB
equipment the company has recently bought 4 JCB excavators, a JS 160, JS220, JS260 and a JS360, for use on large construction projects in the region.
The aptly named business has recently won the tender to provide bulk muck shifting services at the site of JCB’s prestigious new £30mn tour quality golf
course which is currently taking shape close to the Rocester HQ. The main tasks to be undertaken by JC Balls & Sons include stripping and storing topsoil
from the 240-acre site and shaping the subsoil in six of the eleven work sectors that the golf course is divided into. They have also staked out the golf course
with huge, 4m high staking poles and tackled some of the tree and hedgerow clearance in readiness for the holes.
