DRUŠTVO ZA KARATE CELJE
SHOTOKAN KARATE-DO INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION of Slovenia a KARATE CLUB CELJE are organizing
S.K.I.F. KARATE tournament, divided in two parts:

Celebration International S.K.I.F. KARATE tournament CELJE 45 dedicated to 45 anniversary of the
Karate Club Celje.
Karate Club Celje started in 1969 and is one of five oldest karate clubs in Slovenia. Throughout its existence
it taught karate to more than 5000 members and achieved numerous great competition results both
nationally and internationally. The crown of all achievements are two S.K.I.F. World Championship titles – in
Tokyo 2006 Sebastian Kantuzer, kumite cadets 14-15 years and in Athens 2009 Rok Ojstersek, also kumite
cadets 14-15 years. Both members will participate in the Karate tournament CELJE 45.
Tournament welcomes all S.K.I.F. clubs from Slovenia and other countries and S.K.I.F. national teams. It
represents a good opportunity as a test competition before the upcoming S.K.I.F. European Championship
in Dresden, Germany 2014.

4 S.K.I.F. International KYU tournament CELJE 2014 is open to all KYU belts of all ages, from juniors to
master class.
S.K.I.F. KARATE tournament CELJE 45 is open to cadets, seniors and masters and teams on club and national
level. It will include competition in kata and kumite, for brown and DAN belts, from 14 years of age on.
Award pool for the tournament is 2000 € in practical and monetary awards. All winners in the individual and
team categories in Celebration International S.K.I.F. KARATE tournament CELJE 45 will receive monetary
award, if there are more than 8 competitors in a category. Winners of individual events will receive 60€,
winners in team kumite cadets 150€ and winners in team kumite seniors 300€.
Organizer covers the costs of accommodation for foreign teams (2 nights) for team leader and 4

FINALS: All competitors in finals perform (TOKUI) kata. It can be the same kata, as already performed in qualification part. POINT
SYSTEM. Brown belts can perform also the following kata: BASSAI-DAI; JION; EMPI; KANKU-DAI; JIIN or JITTE.

competitors must wear gum shields, men groin protectors, women chest protectors and WHITE gloves according to S.K.I.F. standard.
Other protection gear is not allowed. We recommend medical insurance for all competitors in kumite, participants compete at their
own responsibility.

KUMITE EKIPNO
Each club/nation: 3+1 – Cadet men/Senior men – can apply more than one team, appropriately marked in the
application form as team A, B...
To take part at the team event competitor must also take part in an individual event!
The competitors in team event can be cadet and senior men combined (brown and black belts).
Team kumite rules are IPPON-SHOBU (2 Wazaries or 1 Ippon), 2 minutes active time. No extensions.
Competition rules are S.K.I.F. Referees and judges are appointed by S.K.I.F. Slovenia. Teams from other countries can
delegate their referees and judges. All must wear uniforms.
We recommend medical insurance for the day of competition for all competitors in kumite, participants compete at their
own responsibility.
The number of competitors is not limited, but competitors must satisfy the criteria for the categories in which they are
applied. All competitors must present a membership card or any other document to verify their age.
In case of higher power or low number of applied participants the organizer has a right to cancel the event 24 hours
before the start. All teams, that will send application forms in due date, will be properly informed, if such a case should
arise.

CELJE
Celje is the City of the Counts. It is also "the town where I want to
live". Could the denizens have selected a better slogan for their

Celje's cultural legacy testifies to rich and turbulent centuries.
Originally "Keleia", a Celtic settlement where Noricum coins were
minted, in the period of Emperor Claudius it developed as
"Celeia" into the most important Roman borough and a most
important economic and military center.
Celje became the capital of a principality when the Counts of
Celje were elevated to the status of princes in 1436. Allied with
the German Emperor Sigismund of Luxembourg, they struggled
ever more bitterly ther Hapsburgs for political supremacy in
Central Europe. When Count Ulrik II was assassinated in Belgrade
by his Hugarian rivals in 1456, the cry "the Counts of Celje today
and never again" marked the end of their dynasty and the city
came under Hapsburg rule.
Celje defied natural disasters and enemies such as floods and the
Turks and continued to develop its flourishing trade and
commerce to strengthen its position as one of the most
important cities in Lower Styria. The railway brought
industrialization in 1846, which marked the end of the old times
and the transition into a new exciting century in which Celje
became a city with a lively cultural and tourist beat, a highly
developed social life, a commercial, trade and fair center, and
attractive surroundings.
Celje is one of the richest cultural cities in Slovenia, on a
crossroads of historic and cultural routes - the Slavic, Germanic,
Roman, Hungarian and others.
